Ok for an overnight stay, but if it rains, you're in a mess. The entire park is a slurry of mud and gravel, more mud than gravel. Few residents, kept to themselves and quiet. Front desk friendly. Watch the "dog walk" areas for "land mines." Sites seem very unlevel and rutted. Many feral cats wondering around. Some of the trees need trimming as they won't allow tall RV slides to be opened. Water pressure low, too. While it rained heavily the night we arrived and made it a mess, I still would not come back. Not at the price. Much better value at state parks. We camped at Mountain Road RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This park is fine for an overnite. Everything is gravel and weeds. A few trees but either small or dead. Very few campers. Trash laying around sites. They have light poles all over the park and was trying to sleep in the daytime. Some sites have cable hook up some don't. Stayed here 5 years ago and it was much better. It appears that they are letting the place run down. We camped at Mountain Road RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Park is near I-40 off ramp and not too far from a decent grocery store. The sites are close as stated in other reviews, but they have new picnic tables and the water was okay. Our problem was the 50 Amp site we were 1st assigned. The pull through site we were assigned meant we had to unhook but with room to park next to it. But...as a 40' MH, we have electricity needs beyond smaller rigs. With just 1 A/C running, the microwave blew the switch. Our fear was it blew up the A/C as well. The office person came down with a tester, found electric box putting out low voltage. She moved us to another, shorter site that could run 2 A/CS. We turned the fridge & hot water heater over to gas. Spent an uneasy night there. We camped at Mountain Road RV Park in a Motorhome.

It is a reasonable park, with little shade or fancy stuff, but provided all we needed for a good night's rest. Site we were assigned was taken, so we just chose another. We camped at Mountain Road RV Park in a Motorhome.

Sites not really long enough to not unhook. They allow you to remain hooked up but the toad sticks out onto the drive in the rear and if others pull forward in their sites it is really tight to impossible to pull out until they leave. Almost no road or train noise. Wifi ok for email. We will stay here again but try to get a site easier to get out in the morning. We camped at Mountain Road RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

It was a quick overnight stop, and the place was almost full. Just a big gravel parking lot with a few trees here and there. No defined roads, and the sites weren't really defined either. You just kind of pull up next to the power post, which is an issue because most other RVs in the park were long and pulling a trailer or car. So you have RVs sticking out into what was probably the travel lane, so you couldn't get through. Had to make a U turn through another site to get out. At least, I think it was another site... We camped at Mountain Road RV Park in a Motorhome.

Park is convenient to I40 and seems to be primarily a one night stop over. Only a few seasonal campers about 60 pull the US...half with cable. Utilities work (50amp is $3/night) but little attention to park and facilities for several years. Office stays open till 8pm but takes off between 11:30 - 2pm. Price quoted on phone morphed into more at check-in which agreed to stay at the quoted price. Laundromat is only $1/load...but they have been well used. Broken and bent pipes in many sites, playground is not suitable. Road noise. Want to park overnight it is ok. We stayed several days fighting a fever so park didn't matter much to us. Most picnic tables are not usable. We camped at Mountain Road RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The Route 66 Museum had some great cars to see and a worthwhile video. NM Museum was Ok. You can feel for activity happening on the Mother Road of America....you have to imagine the bustle when gas stations, motels and restaurants were open and thriving. There are a few still open.

Keeping in mind this is located in New Mexico, the landscaping is almost non-existent. However, the lots are very level. The cable and WiFi had terrific reception. The bathrooms/showers were excellent! Very clean and hygienic. Also, the office area was one of the cleanest i have ever been in at a campground. I could tell from the respect the owner had for their working area, that the campground was also well taken care of. Bravo! We camped at Mountain Road RV Park in a Motorhome.

This camper does not use park facilities being self contained. The park is adequate for overnight stays, but the grounds are not well kept. Everything is gravel or dirt, and areas in rain run off are easy to get mired in. If self contained and looking for an overnight park this is adequate. Tips for other Campers:

Unfortunately Tucumcari is a dying community and there is basically nothing to do there. We unhooked to go into town for a good Mexican food meal. Very good food at Pow Wow Restaurant on W. Rte 66.

Easy to get off and on the Interstate. Park is typical for the desert South West, mainly dirt and gravel roads and spaces. We stopped early (around 2PM) and glad we did as the park filled up quickly because of storms and high winds. Showers and restrooms were clean. Received a key at check in. Minimal amount of stations available on cable system. Will stay here again if we are in the area. We camped at Mountain Road RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Tucumcari is definitely an economically depressed area. There was one restaurant open besides the ones at the gas stations. It appeared that most of the RV Parks were closed, no rv's in the parks. Del's was the only restaurant open and the food was good, and service was good.

Great little place to pull off and spend the night. No frills campground. Just the necessities. Being close to truck/travel centers I was worried about noise...unfounded. It was quiet all night. Basic park but ok for overnight. Convenient to freeway. Pull through sites too short, but nobody un-hooks. Toad hangs out in road behind. Cable tv is basic local and national channels and some channels are too snowy to watch. We would stay here again if needing to stop in area, but might try to plan to stop in different area.
