This is a charming park and is easily accessible for even big rigs. Roads are a little narrow but we had no problems navigating with our 40' fifthwheel. Site was just long enough for our rig and we did not have to disconnect. WiFi was very good. Many sites have some trees on them. We camped at Tucumcari KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Once again (see my 10/16 review for a better description of the park), we are staying at a park we stayed at last fall. We had a FHU, pull through site with cable TV. It was also satellite friendly. The Wi-Fi was decent and the bathrooms were clean. I still don't see any recycling. We camped at Tucumcari KOA in a Motorhome.

We stayed here overnight and the pull thrus were long enough and wide enough for our Class A pulling a car. Road noise was minimal from the highway. They had a nice pool but we did not use it. It was just right for overnight. We camped at Tucumcari KOA in a Motorhome.

Stayed here one night on the way home. Not well kept up. Tree Branches very close to pump outs, sites not well maintained, Grass around their rental 'Retro RV's' almost calf high. Dog park also needed to be mowed. It rained and sites were flooded. We won't stay here again. We camped at Tucumcari KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a good place to stay as you are heading E/W on I-40. Off the road and quiet. Nice wide roads with long level pull thru. No need to unhook. Personnel was very nice. Grass is sparse in this neck of the woods, but they do their best and also have some trees and it is neat and tidy. Older electrical box but it contained a brand new 50 amp plug. We camped at Tucumcari KOA in a Motorhome.

Although this park is very convenient to I-40, we were very disappointed when we arrived. The reviews we read indicated that it is well-tended and grassy, but the only greenery we saw were overgrown weeds. The picnic tables hadn't been cleaned in a long time and the roads were full of potholes. There was a power line over our rig connected to a pole that was leaning significantly, making us very nervous since it was a VERY windy evening. We have learned that there are many different quality levels between KOAs. This is one we won't come back to. We camped at Tucumcari KOA in a Motorhome.

We had a full hookup pull through site for two nights. As others have said you will face in opposite direction to your neighbor and the sites are quite close. Our drivers side slide outs were only about four feet from the next RV. If your comfortable being that close then this is a good overnight campground easily accessible from I-40 with acceptable road noise. WiFi was not usable. Verizon signal was good. We camped at Tucumcari KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There are both Loves and Pilot Travel Centers across from each other one exit 2 miles west. Historic 66 in Tucumcari has lots of photo ops. The Route 66 museum behind the convention center is worth a visit.

You only have two choices for RV parks in Tucumcari. One has very tight spaces and the other, KOA, is a little run down and overpriced. I was disappointed to see that many of the spaces at the KOA were buddy sites, which I hate. The park appears very run down. It is dirt, weeds and scrub trees. However the service was excellent and the space was adequate for the night but overpriced since I am not a KOA member. The park does have a pool and has cooked meals in the evening that you can order and have delivered to your rig. My site was level but was close to both neighbors. It was long enough to handle my 40 foot fifth wheel and truck with no problem. I would recommend it for an overnight stop. We camped at Tucumcari KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

We stay here about once a year as an overnight stop. We are very pleased with it. Sites are entered from both directions putting the utilities between the RVs facing in the opposite direction. This eliminates opening your onto the sewer connection. You do share the island with your neighbor on the drivers side. Be friendly. You are still on the high plains so there is plenty of sunshine. Wids can come up very quickly, do not leave awning unattended. We camped at Tucumcari KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Mesa Lands museum is a must see. This is a "you can touch" museum. Tucumcari is a heaven for fossils of the proto dinosaurs of the triassic period.

This is our 3rd overnight at this KOA. We were greeted just as we pulled into the CG. A quick check-in and we were guided to our site. Our host made sure we were in the best position to take advantage of the shade and picnic table. He stayed to make sure that we were familiar with the hook-ups. There were sufficient facilities to service the 88 campsites if full. Even with a near capacity park, the evening was quiet. There is a nice cafe on-site for ordering an evening meal delivered to your site or for breakfast in the cafe. The camp store had many curiosities and had camping essentials if needed.

For the record, it seems some campers are really not familiar with the desert environment or unique habitat. Grasses have to be left to grow and form seeds to replenish the landscape. Thus, they are not "mowed" (until they seed) as in other parts of the country where grass grows differently. Burrs are also part of the flora that keeps dirt where it belongs. Just make sure you check your dog's pads after a walk. Snakes are a part of the southwest. Don't camp here if you think they won't join you. We camped at Tucumcari KOA in a Motorhome.

Was disappointed. Photo galaxy shows pretty grass and clean. All they have are weeds and dirt. Worst KOA we have stayed. The owners are nice and there are trees and a very small dog park. Bathrooms are ok. Would not stay here again. We camped at Tucumcari KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Just too close together with alternate parking on the row, meaning your front door opens to your neighbor's front door because you've pulled into the site in opposite directions. A bit pricey for gravel and dirt sites. However, the people were nice, and everything worked. WiFi was just okay. Far enough from I-40 to avoid significant highway noise. It was okay for an overnight. We camped at Tucumcari KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

New electric service. On site food was convenient, fairly priced and good. Hate the darn speedbumps. Trees could use some attention. People were very friendly and effient. Stayed here several times because of its location of I 40 and 54. More of an overnight place. We camped at Tucumcari KOA in a Motorhome.
