A wonderful state park. Our site backed up to Lake Ontario, with beautiful sunrises and sunsets! The restrooms are better and cleaner than many commercial campgrounds. There are only water and electric campsites, but the dump station is easy to access and has a long hose. The light house is really cool, with a very knowledgeable volunteer tour guide. We camped at Golden Hill State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

About an hour drive to Niagara Falls. We would recommend staying here for the peace and quiet, then driving to see the sites in Niagara Falls. There are lots of fruit and vegetable stands in the area. Ask around about the new "Snapdragon" apples-the sweetest and cripest apple we ever ate! The "Oh Canada, Eh!" diner theatre in Niagara Falls , Ontario is a fun evenign, with good food and a very funny musical show!

What a gem of a park. Small state park and very quiet even on a holiday weekend. The lighthouse is beautiful and only a $1 to visit. This park is right on Lake Ontario and due to the size of the lake the sunrises and sunsets are beautiful. Newer playground and basketball court for the kids. No WiFi and cell phone service is very limited. Highly recommend this state park. We camped at Golden Hill State Park in a Motorhome.

located on Lake Ontario with a Light house as a featured attraction. Light house has a rentable apartment. Most sites have water as well as electric. Some are pull through and others allow lake facing parking. Excellent hiking trails that are wheel chair accessible and a nearby boat launch area.

Not far from the Niagara wine trail. A recently added new accessible bath/shower building as well as rentable Yurts. A family favorite finished and under construction We camped at Golden Hill State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This campground is located right on Lake Ontario and has sites with electric and water and also some dry camp spots right along the lake front. it is big rig accessible but some tree trimming should be done. There is a working lighthouse in the campground that offers tours for $1 per person. There are several bathhouses. The big one at the entrance is air conditioned and there is another small bath house right beside it. There is a fairly new looking bath house down by the light house but it is not air conditioned but did have washer and dryer ($1.50 each). Verizon cell service it hit or miss because of the closeness to Canda so make sure you have your data roaming off. We were on a lakefront water and electric site and the utilities worked just fine. There are nearby dairy farms and when the wind blows a certain way, the farm smell is apparent. Cannot speak to TV reception as we have no TV in our tent trailer but people did have their antennas up and there are some wide open sites that would work for satellite TV. We loved this place and found it full of friendly people. We would love to return for a longer stay. We camped at Golden Hill State Park in a Tent Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a nice Wal-Mart in Albion but it is about a 20 mile drive. Niagara Falls is about an hour away and Lockport was a really nice place to visit for the Erie Canal. Lots of local farm stands in the area with great produce.

Beautiful Campground. Campsites on the water, and the pull through sites, are a little more tightly spaced, but still nice. Great views and always a breeze blowing in off the water. The water front sites (all back-in) are about 10 feet above the water level. Water is available at each site, but are at the front of the back in sites, so bring plenty of hose. We used 20 ft., some needed a 30 ft run. Catch the lighthouse tour - donation is $1/person. Bathroom are well maintained and clean. As stated in other reports, the closest grocery store and fuel is approx 25 miles away. There is very little cell phone coverage - Verizon was 1-3 bars, but sporadic. Terrestrial TV reception is a few stations out of Toronto. Nice hiking trails. The rate I was charged ($32/nite for a 30amp with water back in site) does not include a $9 reservation fee. I would love to return here. We camped at Golden Hill State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We had such a good time I really wanted to leave a review. It was just awesome to be able to stay in a lighthouse. The apartment area was clean. The stairway access not so much but you were not in it very long so didn't matter that much to us. We did walk around the campground part and it was very clean. The lighthouse area did have an outdoor grill and fire pit so there was still some of the camping experience. It was a bucket list item for us and we had a great time. There were 3 bedrooms and the beds were comfortable. The full kitchen made preparing meals very easy. Unfortunately it was a very long drive for us to get there but if it was closer we would definitely go back. We camped at Golden Hill State Park in a Cabin.

Very pleasant park in a nice location. Best sites are the pull through or those with lake frontage, but they are all nice and you can walk to the lake. Many hiking trails. We camped at Golden Hill State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

About 45 miles to Niagara Falls

Fort Niagara is nearby and worth the trip.

Many winery's to tour.

Nearby Occolt Beach is a fun place to visit.

This park is remote and there are no close gas stations or groceries store close, so plan accordingly.

The lighthouse is a must see.

We stopped at this pretty New York state park for lunch and were pleasantly surprised by it, enough so to warrant writing an entry here. We had camped at another state park the night before so we did not have to pay an admission fee as a day visitor, I put $1 in for this form because it would not accept 0. The campground has about 60 campsites. At the time we were there (mid-week, off season) fewer than 10 were in use. Many campsites have water as well as electricity, which we hadn’t found in the three other NY parks we stayed in. Most campsites can see the Lake. There is a lovely historic lighthouse on the property, right next to some of the campsites. If we are ever come this way again, we will definitely try to stay here. We camped at Golden Hill State Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed here the weekend of September 19 & 20, 2014. It is Very difficult to get a reservation as it is always booked so that should tell you something right there. We went with another family. We stayed in C-54. For a NY State park, you have tons of room all around you and water hook up. You are very close to Lake Ontario and can see/hear it from your site. It is a very quaint campsite. We took the tour for a $1 donation of the old light house and it was quite impressive. Lot's of history and memorabilia to look at. There are 3 one mile loops to walk/hike. We only had the opportunity to do one. Well maintained and the kids had enough to do with the play ground. Will efinately stay here again, just hope there will be open spots. A hidden gem! We camped at Golden Hill State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We recently stayed here the week of the 4th of July. It is probably the prettiest park we have ever camped at. Our site backed up to Lake Ontario and we had a beautiful sunset all 4 nights that we were here. There were 2 shower houses, one was old and the shower would not run warm and you would push a button and it would run for about a minute and then turn off and then you would have to push it again. The second bath house had 2 showers and they had wonderful warm water and good water pressure. They were always clean, but on 2 of the days we were here the women's bathroom stunk. We had a roaming phone signal, we had Sprint, our friends had Verizon. If we lost the signal we would sometimes pick up a signal coming out of Canada and would have issues connecting. Had to go to the campstore on a few occasions to be able to call out. This campground does have electric and water but the water is not placed within easy reach. Ours was on a spigot with our neighbors and we had to run 2 hoses under the trailer to be able to connect. There is a lighthouse on the grounds, and the lady working there was very friendly and spent time with us giving a tour. We used this as a base for touring Niagara as it was about a 45 minute drive to the falls. We were able to use our parking pass at the state park at the falls and saved $10 a day. If we are ever back in the area we will stay here again. We camped at Golden Hill State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Nice choice of sites in a beautiful location. Friendly staff. They have hiking trails and lots of playgrounds for the kids. There is a visitors' center building that has tables for games and a book trade. Washer and dryer available for camper use. 44 miles from Niagara Falls. Would definitely stay here again. Nice small New York State Park. Restored lighthouse on grounds; tours available. Lake view sights are rather close together, but we were able to get a 40 foot motorhome in and leveled. Some sites along lake are grass. Good location to base exploration on Niagara Area, including Niagara Falls, of New York State. Some organized events scheduled during summer. We camped at Golden Hill State Park in a Motorhome.
