Great place to stay for a few days while exploring the Canal area. Very clean. We had a nice drive through by a seasonal site and they had a nice flower area. Full hookups which many of the State Parks do not have available. Owners were very helpful with info on the Canal towns. - Fayetea
Aug 2017 - $50.00
We arrived in the dark (9:00pm) and the office was closed, but we had let them know we were arriving late so they left a map with our site marked on it for us on the office door. Our site was very tight for us to get into given that we have a 45' motorcoach. The manager saw us and came over to help direct us into the site, which was appreciated. The sites are level, gravel, and with wide sections of grass between sites. It looked like many people here are seasonal campers and everyone was very friendly. They are expanding this campground. The manager told us that they are adding 45 new sites, and they're planning on many of those sites being larger to help accommodate larger rigs. There is a large pond that you can swim in or use a small boat on, which the campground has several available for use. - JC06
Jun 2017 - $30.00
This could be a great place if they enforced their long list of rules. Gets crowded on the weekends with lots of visitors to the sites. People tend to camp here in groups and it's just party time. Noisy with no regard to quiet time. Don't think I've been to a campground where no one abides by any rules. This is a beautiful clean campground, what a shame. - Oldtime campers
May 2018 - $28.00
A high end park. Nice sites, no "permanent site blight". laundry and bathrooms seem undersized for the number of sites ( 2 washers, 1 BR stall). H.R. is frustrating for a fisherman... Bass pond touted in brochures, but water craft are not allowed due to concerns for invasive species. This is a valid concern but the $5.00 / hr charge for a rental kayak seems like gouging, especially when complimentary golf carts are offered. This is a marketing clinker for a park that can otherwise claim to be classy. It taints the experience needlessly. - 12141
Aug 2017 - $44.00
Gravel site and interior roads, water a bit further reach than electric and sewer. Power ok, water psi ok, needed to level at site, strong WiFi, large lineup of cable stations, many sites satellite friendly, Friday night dinner at golf club house, park is in country setting about 25 miles west of Rochester. There were many permanent/seasonal residents and several golfers staying in the park. Rate above is for GS. - SunStar203
Sep 2016 - $22.00
Have stayed here many times and keep coming back!
The golf course is in good condition. The staff are teriffic. The restaurant food is very good.
Honestly, I would like to see them invest a little more time in improving the gravel pads - more stone and more of an effort to widen and grade would be good, and I'd love to see them eliminate the grass around the power pole and sewer connections. The grass cutters and weed whackers make a real mess and have damaged our equipment (scratches on coach body). But overall, this is a very nice campground and a good value. - MerBee
Aug 2018 - $35.00
Rate reflects out-of-state charge and registration fee. It was $104 for 3 nights. Nicely maintained state park on Lake Ontario. Several beach and recreation areas in the park. There are pets and no-pets loops, so if you don't want to listen to a yapping shi-zu, you don't have to. Some of the sites in Loop A are downhill from the road (site numbers in the 20s) and are not level or anywhere near it. We asked to move and they accommodated us. 50 amp on some sites, 30 on most. The electricity was rock solid for our entire stay. - jplante4
Aug 2017 - $30.00
Another great NYS Park. Staff was very friendly. Site was very spacious, but was not level and it only had electric hook-ups, but had a bath house near by. Also, water spigots were plentiful through out the loop. The beach was very nice and large. Lake Ontario is a beautiful lake to sit and relax or swim. I did not use the restrooms or showers, but walked in to take a look and they are average at best. - sizzle
Jul 2016 - $29.00
Pets are allowed in loops A,B&C but not D,E,or F. Roads are paved and sites are gravel with elec. only. Water spigots are scattered throughout the loops. The camp store is located near loop C. Campground is heavily wooded but a careful selection of site allowed satellite TV reception. The long Lake Ontario beach front is the main attraction of this park but it wasn't heavily used this July. - Appleknocker
May 2018 - $33.00
The owners are very friendly and doing many things to improve the park including paving the roads. Everyone we met here especially the staff were very friendly as well. The sites are spacious but with the gravel they are not perfectly level. It took me a few times adjusting to find a more level spot. Being between the Erie and Ontario lake, there is quiet a bit of wind here so be prepared for that depending on the time of year. You are also about 7-10 miles away from stores and a little over an hour from Niagara Falls. Cell service worked with T-Mobile worked very well here so I imagine the other two will work just fine too. We really enjoyed it here and will definitely return when we are in the area. - Techn0
Aug 2017 - $40.00
This a really nice RV resort with good size sites and most have 30A and 50A hookups with sewer that seems to be in the middle of nowhere which makes is a good secret. There are many amenities including a great cable package and a real working Wi-Fi system. On Saturdays, they have a local truck come in and sell fresh produce plus there is a "Tiki Bar" at the pool selling food. The pools were always clean and usually occupied but more than half the park is seasonal campers who were very friendly. The speed limit was mostly obeyed which was a good thing as the roads are mostly stone and could get dusty. The downside is we saw MANY golf carts being driven by 6-9 year old children...the parents sat in the front with them but this is dangerous. We also moved onto a 2nd site which was dirty with a lots of paper and plastic wrappers all around the site, it would be nice if there was a cleanup crew when a site becomes vacant. They were already taking reservations for 2018 so it must be a popular destination. For the most part, a good stay and we would definitely come back here. - D&E
Jul 2017 - $37.00
We found the office staff to be great each time we came in. Staff was just outstanding and funny. The campground itself is very well maintained. The pools looked great even though we did not use them. The flower garden areas are just so well done throughout the park. We loved the walking area in the woods and so did our dogs. The MiniGolf was also a nice find. We went into the bath houses even though we did not use them just to check them out, and even them are kept nice.
One of the BEST things...The Wi-Fi actually WORKD!!! And not just worked, worked really, really well and would be a reason to return as we need Wi-Fi for work. (Yes we have a Jetpack but it was not needed.) This is the first place we have stayed this summer where the Wi-Fi just worked! Unless you travel, you may not know this, but finding good RV Park Wi-Fi is not something that you find often if you can believe that! So whatever Southwoods RV Park is doing for that...It Works!
The seasonal sites are very well kept. Be sure to check out the last site all the way to the East part of the campground in the woods with the wolf chainsaw carvings! Can'y miss it!
All in all, a very good stay and we will be back. - InMyCoach
Aug 2015 - $38.00
This was an overnight stop for us as we head west to Cincinnati. We requested a pull thru, 50 amp, water and sewer. The host (Skip) took us to the over night pull thru area which was up a relatively steep hill, very rough, very dusty, narrow road. The PT sites are right next to I-90, so lots of noise. After Skip left I began to setup for the night (water/sewer/power). The power boxes were very old and in rough condition and while the site's nightly rate was for 50 amp service the 50 amp plug was feed by two 30 amp breakers so in a sense instead of 100 amp service (two 50 amp legs) this was a 60 amp service (two 30 amp legs). I got everything hooked up and went inside the coach and my Energy Management System showed NO Voltage. I started my generator to run the AC and everything work fine off the generator. I called the CG office and the lady said she'd send Skip back. After about 20 minutes Skip returned checked the legs with his meter and said,'have 240 vac, everything is working'. I questioned the two 30 amp breakers and he said it's wired with 50 amp wire but he reduces it to 30 amp. My concern at this point was the wiring and issues with the neutral and calmly explained my concerns to Skip. At that point Skip walked away from me saying , 'bigger rigs than yours have stayed here and no one else has complained, so if you don't like it pack up and leave and we'll give you your money back'. His tone was rather rude and at that I disconnected, brought in the slides and drove to the office for a credit. We drove to another area campground (2 miles away), connected to their 50 amp service (with actual 50 amp breakers) and everything work as it should. There was definitely an issue with their service/wiring.
So if you decide to stay here, expect rough roads, at steep hill to drive up, your RV to get dirty from the dust, 50 amp service that is throttled to 30 amp that may or may not work. If you have a problem expect Skip to just tell you to leave. - Russ G
May 2015 - $38.00
It is easy on/off the NYS Thruway for a night but I would not make it a destination point. The sites are on grass. To get to the pull-through sites you have to go up a short very steep hill and I believe there are about 3 of these site. The front of your rig faces the thruway, which is about 200 feet in front. Yes, there is road noise but we were able to get to sleep. They offer no discounts. There is plenty of room to walk a dog but the only container to dispose of the waste is down near the office. - petpeople
Jul 2012 - $24.00
My four children, wife, and I purchased our first a fifth wheel and had a wonderful two week experience. We never owned an RV and the owner backed us in, hooked us up, and went over the basics. We were on the seasonal level at the bottom of the hill and were quite pleased with the wide open spaces. The kids fished in the 2 acre "lake", more of a pond, and had a blast. There are two play areas and a pool. My wife and I had fun playing in the arcade that had old games. There is a small store that has all the camp stuff and a mini golf course. They made friends for life. - The Raging Lucy

Aug 2018 - $34.00
Interesting park. Our site was inside a circular road. It was very not level and no surface, only grass. There were many, many sites there--unoccupied. I think we were the only transients. The rest were seasonals. The services were good, even the wifi. But be aware, there is a large stage by the office where they evidently have concerts, so I guess that is when they utilize all the sites. You might want to ask about the concerts if you don't want to listen to bad music all night. Our site was water and power only, so maybe the full service sites are better. - hudsonguy
Nov 2017 - $49.00
Clean, attractive park. One inner loop gravel road; individual sites are serviced by grass areas without road markings. Sites are gravel and mostly level, with lot of space between sites. Office was not open when we arrived during business hours, but it was off-season and a helpful attendant arrived within 10 minutes of a phone call and showed us to a site. The price was high, but it is one of the only of-season, open parks in northern NY along the lake so I guess they take advantage of supply and demand. The utilities appeared very new and in excellent shape. Free WiFi was so weak it was essentially nonexistent. Lots of grass for dog walking. - LoneWolf
Jul 2014 - $63.00
Because of the 'concert' we had no interest in, the rate for our week here was VERY over priced. The map shows a mini-golf course; it hasn't been there for years. The G section of the map is on the steepest hill we ever camped on--awful. The pool was never cleaned. Some creepy employee kept hanging around the women's room every time our neighbor's 12 year old niece went to take a shower! I have seen much nicer playgrounds in people's yards. There were no activities except: a bounce house that seemed randomly put up on no schedule, a fun wagon ride one of the nights for the kids, and a day water gun wagon ride. Won't stay here ever again. - Camping Mer
Jun 2018 - $29.00
It was easy to access the campground from state highways. However I started hitting branches at the entrance. The check in was quick and the owner took us to two sites to evaluate which one would work best. We decided on the site that was in the open meadow. It was very easy to maneuver the big rig into place. The site had 50 amp, water and a grey tank disposal. I brushed several branches on the way to and from the site. This is an issue that could easily be fixed and any campground that has sites for big rigs should have clearance from branches. The rest rooms were clean and the campground was well maintained. The dump station is next to the office. Which is great when you leave but takes a little maneuvering if you want to use it at arrival. The race track is directly across the street from some campsites. If that's an issue, check what nights they race. Open field with about 20 campsites around the outside. Several looked long term. - DJR CMR
Jul 2017 - $30.00
Campground has some nice features. The mowed walking path was excellent for our dogs to get a break and some exercise. Although many of the units are long term, it was very quiet and we didn't see many people out. Convenient to interstate and staff very friendly. The negatives are the camper and picnic table graveyard at the back of the campground and some of the long term sites needed trimming up. We were not here on a race night. We would stop in again. - busyteach
Jun 2016 - $42.00
Campground was clean and owners were very nice and friendly. Lots of trees made it nice to sit outside. Sites were average size. - Ironworker
May 2007 - $22.00
Nice location on Oak Orchard creek. Not a big tourist stop, more of a down home atmosphere. Activities are planned and there is a marina there for you fisherpeople. Overall, a nice relaxing campground. - hedoTravelers
Jun 2011 - $36.00
This is a private single campsite right on a lake. The views couldn't have been any better. My husband fished almost all day every day just a few steps from the site. The owner of the property was very nice. I'm leery about writing this review because I don't want everyone to know about what a gem this place is, but it is so hard to keep it to ourselves. After staying here you will dread going to campgrounds, if you camp for peace and quiet, because you sure do get that here. - Hummings102
Apr 2010 - $25.00
To call this a gem is a bit too much. We stayed here because they are open year around and in April there are almost no campgrounds open, so we stayed here. The "sites" are some grass areas behind the owners house. The sites are very close to the highway and there is a lot of highway noise. I would not recommend this CG unless you really need a place to stay when everything else is closed. It is fairly easy to get to off I-90. - TheJim
Jun 2008 - $25.00
What a hidden jewel this is! Great for extended visits to the VA facility. Very tiny but a wonderful woman managing the park. Very old mobile home park with some vintage units in it but very quiet. A great park also for overnight. I do not think they are open year round. - Tamera
Aug 2007 - $25.00
This park was such a nice surprise. We found it by accident and will make a point of going back. It is located on the edge of town and shopping is within 5 miles. Very friendly woman handles the check-in! It is quiet because it is an actual mobile home park, most people gone during the day and quiet at night. Good stop for us "geezers"!! - Phoebe
