Stayed 2 nights in a fifth-wheel. A first for us....called several days ago for a reservation, told "just come on in". Arrived, fast check-in, and assigned a pull-through site. Park is large, seems at least half are perm/semi-perm. We were down in an open area, grass with 30 amp, water no sewer. Dump station on the road out. Fairly quiet. Site was wide, but just not long enough for both 33' FW and my Crew Cab long bed. We'd stay again. We camped at Camp Bell Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a very good stop over RV park. Although about 80% of the spaces are occupied by stayers, the park is very, very well-manicured and neat. The free WiFi was strong and reliable. Short term spaces are unshaded and level with grass, table and fire pit (firewood for sale). Shared water & electric posts mean RVs are parked close to one another, side-by-side in alternating directions. Internal gravel roads are easily navigable. Big rig friendly. Easy on and off interstate. Fully stocked camp store. Rate above is Passport America. We camped at Camp Bell Campground in a Motorhome.

We enjoy coming here as a half way point between Milton, Ontario and Millersville, Pa. Owners are friendly and helpful, campground is well maintained. 30amp only site with water, there are no sewer hookups but a dump station is convenient. Several OTA TV signals, WIFI is particularly slow after a very few downloads (data only, no streaming.) Many side by side sites but the owners avoid assigning adjoining sites if possible. We would return anytime in the area. We camped at Camp Bell Campground in a Motorhome.

Lot of shaded seasonal sites and just a few back-in shady sites for transients. Pull-thru sites are in an open grassy field and very close together. Roads are gravel and easy to navigate. Large horseshoe pit area set up for pitching clubs at rear of campground. Showers were hot with good pressure but need updating, typical of a state park or COE, not a "resort". We camped at Camp Bell Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Corning has the "Gaffer District" with a lot of interesting shops and restaurants that provides a good place to visit after touring the Corning Glass Museum and/or the Rockwell Museum of the American West. When in Corning stop at the Wegman's grocery on Bridge St., if you have never been in one, to see why everybody who shops there raves about it and wishes they had one in their hometown.

We were traveling to Watkins Glen International Raceway for a Porsche event and one of our traveling companions had a medical issue resulting in a holding pattern. The fantastic folks here were able to accommodate us even though they were full. This is a great campground and the owners strive to improve it each year. There is a good amount of permanent/seasonal folks here and many activities. There are no sewer connection here but there is a dump station and "honey wagon" service at a very reasonable rate. We camped at Camp Bell Campground in a Motorhome.

Good: strong Verizon signal Bad: freeway noise; old bathrooms About 1/3 with permanent trailers occupied by seasonal residents. Rear of campground adjoins I-86, so some freeway noise but not intolerable. Sites in rear are on a large grassy area - not specifically marked but easy to figure out. Tile on bathroom floor and showers, and bathrooms are generally clean, but old and worn. Two showers were missing handles. Itemized charges for cable TV, sewer hookup, electric hookup Verizon signal 3 bars, 4G. Hokey miniature golf course - plywood on the ground We camped at Camp Bell Campground in a Motorhome.

Very comfortable once inside to your spot. There's a horseshoe club that meets there and the guys are really nice. The first row, which is all their seasonal folks and in the front of the park, kind of looks a little like skid row. Get past there and the place is fine. Conveniently located. Nightly rate is for a 20 amp electric hookup which is unusual. Passport America drops it to $16 but then add $4 for 30 amp service so it's $20 for a pull-through W&E site only. WIFI worked well but the park was sparsely populated this time of year. We did not purchase the cable, there are about 15 OTA TV signals available. Side by side sites but when the park is not crowded the owners spread the guests out which is very nice. Park is well maintained and well groomed, owners are very nice and helpful. We would return in the future. We camped at Camp Bell Campground in a Motorhome.

The permanent people have the shade. The transients are in a big field with no shade. They do offer a package for the Corning Museum and the Rockwell museum. Corning is great, but we did not think that the Rockwell museum was worth going to. Spend your time at Corning. The bathrooms ate clean but outdated. The people at reception could have been a bit nicer. We camped at Camp Bell Campground in a Motorhome.

After reading some of the reviews on this site I feel compelled to add my two cents.

My wife and I are full-timers, and we are still doing a substantial amount of moving about, so we see a pretty good number of campgrounds. What impresses me is not the physical attributes of a camp, or how near is the closest pub, or if the satellite dish will work. One of the things that does impress me is the thoughtfulness of the host: Camp Bell has that in spades!

They anticipated my needs and were prepared, they anticipated my wants and adjusted. They are all about customer service.

The camp was immaculate, and the seasonal trailers were very well-maintained, which can't be easy.

The store was nice, and was stocked with necessities as well as locally produced souvenirs. Prices for goods and services were very reasonable, and I have certainly paid much more this summer for the same service.

Having the owner come around to the camp to see if there was anything he or his wife could do, twice a day, told me that they are serious about providing a quality experience. Finest kind of people.

While we chose this camp randomly, you can be certain we will return if we find ourselves in the Finger Lakes Region again. We camped at Camp Bell Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We paid extra because it was a race weekend at Watkins glen and we couldn't use Passport America. We saw that they had a heated pool so we paid the extra money to stay here. The pool was very cold! Needless to say, we didn't go in. There was no cable TV available at our site ($3 extra) and WiFi was so much per hour or daily rate. It is an older park with mostly permanent trailers, but there were quite a few pull-throughs for overnighters. It's easy on/off I-86 so it was convenient. I don't think we would stay unless we could use Passport America, since their "heated" pool doesn't seem to be heated as advertised. The pool area had a good bit of junk laying around, empty sunblock spray, old socks, etc. We camped at Camp Bell Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

The host could not have been nicer, telling us about the Corning Museum and directing us to an Auto Zone in Corning. The back-in site was pretty level, on grass but in the open so we could use our satellite dish. Mostly seasonal stays but a lot of overnighters. Very quiet and clean. Ed and Carmen are great hosts. Ed recommended great local places to eat.
The sites were level and had great satellite reception. The area for the seasonals was very neat and clean. I wish they had some 50 amp service, and would be glad to pay extra for it, but the price is a good value for every thing you get. We camped at Camp Bell Campground in a Motorhome.

Try Mom's Diner, just about 4 miles north of the RV Park. They are open 7 days a week. Sunday night dinner was great. Some of the local restaurants are not open Sunday night. Breakfast all day and the portions are large. And they have wonderful homemade pies.

Camp Bell CG is an older facility. This campground is a good base from which to tour the western part of the New York Finger Lakes wine region. The overwhelming majority of units on the premises are seasonal campers and they occupy nearly all sites that have any amount of shade. The sites set aside for transient campers are in a large, grassy open area at the rear of the grounds. Sites here are fairly level side to side and a good many of them are pull-throughs. Interior roads are gravel and in excellent condition. There is no separation between you and your neighbor, however the CG management is thoughtful enough to not put two units next to each other if possible. Check-in was quick. The campground store has basic supplies plus souvenir items. We stayed mid-week and even though there are a good number of other campers here, it is very quiet. There is sometimes a bit of traffic noise from nearby I-86 but we did not find that offensive. Grounds & buildings are clean and well-kept. Sewer is not available so we made use of the bath facilities for showering. Water pressure was not overwhelming but acceptable, with plenty of hot water. The shower stalls could benefit from having a grab bar, plus a small seat to use while changing out of and into your clothing. Fixtures are clean however the showers are in need of repair. One stall had no shelf and a broken clothes hook, a second stall's shelf was in need of repair, and a third stall was missing the plastic knob on the mixer faucet handle (the faucet was usable). Basic WiFi is free, but suffered from periods of very slow loading. You have the option of upgrading connectivity for a nominal fee. Access to the dump station is easy. Not a destination campground but an economical choice if your goal is to explore the area. Rate reflects two in our party. We would stay here again. We camped at Camp Bell Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

For those wishing to visit Seneca or Cayuga Lakes it is a bit far to serve that purpose; campgrounds closer to Watkins Glen or Ithaca will be more convenient but will be more expensive.

The Rt. 415 bridge over I-86 is closed for repair, so travelers heading west on I-86/Rt. 17 from Corning are better served by using Exit 41 instead of what GPS or GoogleMaps may show. Access to the CG entrance from the I-86 Exit 41 ramp is a bit tricky, but is passable even for the largest of rigs.
