Aug 2017 - $40.00
Stayed here a couple of nights in August. Overall, a great couple of days. Just a beautiful, quiet area. With the advertised rates so low, my expectations were not high on the actual facilities but I was pleasantly surprised. The restroom/shower near my rig was spotless. My 50 amp hookup had no issues and my campsite and more than enough room for my rig.
At $40 a night, this was best value I've seen in a long time. Other thing I noticed about Woodside was that the staff and the other campers were very friendly but they kind of left you alone if that is what you wanted. I can't say enough about how beautiful that area is. - RVTraveler69

Made reservations a year in advance for certain sites as we camped with a group. Got there and the sites were rented to some one else. The power on these different sites were so bad you could not run your frig and air at the same time, let alone your microwave. Not ever going back there. - shell5
Jul 2011 - $17.00
Came here over the 4th of July holiday. The campground had an excellent fireworks display. Still have great people camping here and very friendly owners. Would camp here again. - shell5

This campground sits on the shore of Lake Erie - several sites have a view of the lake. The nearest larger city is Dunkirk; it is a trek to find a grocery store. The sunsets over the lake each evening were beautiful. There are very active rail lines nearby, so the sound of train whistles might be a problem for tent campers. It was a bit difficult to maneuver into our back-in site - we had to remove the sign post on the campsite opposite us to make the turn. The site itself featured a raised gravel driveway that was somewhat narrow and higher than the rest of the site, which also added to the backing in difficulty. The grounds throughout the campground were a bit uneven particularly around the bathhouse and on the dirt road in our loop. The showers and bathrooms were dated but very clean and the water pressure was great. There were no water hook-ups at the sites but a faucets were nearby and we were able to use two hoses to fill up when needed. The layout in our loop was like a wheel - the side-spacing between sites was good but there was not a great deal of space between the back-in ends of the sites. - liz&denis

This was a clean, pretty park and you could see Lake Erie from many of the sites. There were several playground areas and the equipment was all newer. They have beautiful walking trails that are not too difficult for seniors, but watch if you have little ones because there are some steep drop-offs. We didn't use the swimming area and cannot comment on that. They have run new electric lines and upgraded service at many sites but left the ground lumpy and uneven and difficult to walk. Hopefully that will be corrected. We had an extreme black carpenter ant problem at our site. We discovered ants were climbing the electric pole and walking the electric line into our camper. We put tape over the hole and notified park officials, who came immediately when we complained, put down some kind of ant powder and gave us 2 ant traps. We've pulled everything out of the camper since we left the park, and four days later it looks like we may finally be rid of the ants. Many campsites are perpendicular to the road and difficult to back into. We discovered many people pulling up the site marker poles, which came right out making it easier to back into, then putting the poles back. Bathrooms and showers were clean, individual and completely private but no way to dry your hands in the bathroom. Great water pressure. Sites 10 and 11 looked good, great lake view and easy to get into. All in all, a nice park. - 3 Campalots
Jul 2016 - $28.00
We enjoyed this State Park. The sunsets over the lake were awesome! Would have rated it higher but the bathrooms are dated and need to be upgraded. This park is close Dunkirk NY. We enjoyed the lighthouse museum tour. It is also close to many winery's, Noble winery has a Great view of the Lake Erie. - myriad

The newer section out in the open is where travelers are placed, seasonals are in the trees. Large sites, level gravel, wifi worked well, utilities all good. A great base from which to explore the Chautauqua Lake region. - ldukeb
Jun 2017 - $51.00
We were in the newer area which seems to be the area for daily campers, rather than seasonals. Most of the sites here are pull throughs. Our site was not long enough for our coach and car, but there were plenty of other sites that were longer. It was gravel and not quite level. We stayed for a week, so unhooking was not a problem. There is lots to do in the area, with state parks and Lake Erie nearby. - Sojourner1986
Jun 2017 - $78.00
Very clean and spacious sites. Disappointed the pool was not opened even though the website says it would be open by Memorial Day (still under construction). A lot of activities for the kids to do. Nice views of the lake, but no lake access from the campsite. I thought the price was high, especially since all the amenities were not available at time of stay. - sizzle

The number of sites available is an estimate. The campground has many permanent and seasonal sites that are well kept. In some campgrounds permanent and seasonal sites are a negative. They are not at this campground. Everyone was very friendly. There are also several fishing guides on site for lake Erie. The campground is on Lake Erie with about 1000 ft of frontage/Beach. Sewer hookups are not available but there is a dump station. The restrooms were clean when we inspected them, but they are not ornate. There are trees all around the campground, but the sites are in the open. We will visit this campground again. - Juandering

A little off the beaten path, in the hills above Falconer. Very friendly staff and long termers. The showers & toilets are "rustic" but clean, no sewer but 1 dump site in park. They have some funky gray water system with busted up pvc pipes you just shove your drain pipe into. Must drain gray only, very slowly to avoid backup. And shortly after you see your gray water spreading across the gravel driveway. Site was gravel pull thru and level. - rvrrat520

The new owners are now in their 3rd summer. The intent is to get as many perm people as possible and they are succeeding. Everything is nice and neat and even their WIFI is OK. The sites are grass and with a large rig it is sometimes hard to keep from sinking but we did OK. The shower house is clean as are the restrooms in the upper half but they are nothing but an outhouse that has had plumbing put in them. No sinks just 2 stalls. The owners are very nice but some of the perms seem to have taken charge of the CG and yell at you if you go over the 5 MH speed limit by even a mile per hr. You certainly don't get much for your money here especially with no sewer hook-up but that seems common in the east. The dump station is indeed right along the road and you block traffic when using it. It is very quiet and peaceful there though. - rhianna
Sep 2015 - $28.00
We ended up here over Labor Day weekend because we couldn't find another campground with availability along our route to Niagara Falls due to the holiday. However, we were pleasantly surprised with the campground. As others have mentioned, it is a fairly basic campground, not a "resort", but the new owners are very friendly and helpful, and are working to improve the campground. It's located in a remote but scenic area about 8 miles off the interstate, and is completely surrounded by a public golf course (we almost never saw golfers though). Most of it is wooded, though our site was in a clear area near the large and frequently-used playground. It is mostly occupied by seasonal or full-time families, however they were some of the friendliest residents we've come across in our travels (often if a campground is mostly permanent residents they ignore short-term visitors like us) and all the sites were clean and tidy. Everyone had a smile and wave as we walked our dog through the campground. They only have 30 amp power, and our site had a grey water disposal (first time we've come across that) so we only had to use their dump station on the way out for our black tank. The price was good for what we got (it was about 50%-60% of what other campgrounds were charging during the holiday weekend), and during weekdays with Passport America it would be even cheaper. No WiFi, but our AT&T and Verizon worked fine. Objectively, the campground alone is probably a "7" but due to how welcomed we felt we really enjoyed our stay, and the price was great, so it earns an "8" instead. We'd gladly return if passing through the area again in the future. - LifeRebooted

Stayed 3 nights, charged for 4. No picnic table provided, took two days to get internet password. Internet was so slow, was not even used. Camp is quite nice and great location. Discuss payment prior to arrival. Restrooms need updating, old cracked cinder block. - Edna jones

Level sites, convenient to Chautauqua Institution and management (minimally) helpful But, restrooms poorly maintained and equipped and basics like trash removal not taken care of. - afwi
Aug 2010 - $35.00
This campground is the closest to the Chautauqua Institution, only about a 10 minute drive. The owner does a good job keeping everything neat as a pin. It is very, very quiet. Most people are seasonal but we had a nice pull through site that worked well for our 38 footer. I would definitely stay here again. - LCS

I would not stay here again. Very tight getting to our sight for the night which was close to entry gate. Low hanging branches leading to sight pad. For this reason I asked if I could go into the area on the exit side, which they did allow. Don't even think about driving your coach down towards the office area which is close to waterfront, low branches and tight turns will get you. I asked office to allow me to exit park back thru the entry gate when it was time to leave and they had all kinds of excuses why I had to wait for the owner to arrive to do this. After waiting for 2 hours for someone to show up and help us, we took matters into our on hands and left. Do not expect any help at this park. I would not go back to this park. Park is also an eye sore with full time tenants there with apparently no rules to follow for site cleanliness. - DonGott
Aug 2016 - $43.00
A very busy, crowded park. Lots to do: fishing, boating, planned activities. Very family oriented with lots of kids and golf carts. Real camping. If one took advantage of all activities and facilities, it is not a bad price to pay. - W Davidson
Jul 2016 - $54.00
Very large campground with all sorts of accommodations. We were in our 45ft motorhome in a large, spacious concrete pad. Voltage was sometimes low when usage was very high - like a crowded hot weekend when air conditioning usage was high.
There is a marina as part of the campground with excellent facilities. There are always lots of activities for adults and for kids. Large pool. A store carries supplies and some groceries. The owners are very friendly and cooperative. The campground is easily accessible and near Chautauqua Institution. - Tom Oelsner

Campground is easy in, easy out. Sites are easy to access. Staff is very friendly. Interstate is a bit closer than desirable, so are the railroad tracks but things seem to settle down after dark. - Charisma1965
Aug 2017 - $40.00
A great place to stay. Spacious sites, trees for shade but a few sites open for satellite use. Right across road from a small park on Lake Erie, no beach but great views. Good people to deal with, will definitely stay here again. - ldukeb
Jul 2017 - $51.00
We stayed at the park one night as we were passing through. It is definitely one of the nicer KOA's. The staff was friendly and escorted us to our spot. The roads were easy to navigate, the sites were easy to get into, the utilities were well placed, and the space between sites was decent. The utilities worked well. Our site was quite flat and had enough room for our tow vehicle and dolly without unhooking. If you are passing through on the turnpike, this KOA is conveniently located for easy off/easy on. We didn't use the restrooms or pool. We would definitely use this park again for an overnight stay. - Tammy7

Aug 2011 - $34.00
Request full-hookup sites with Electric, water and sewer. We try to provide quick, objective reviews of campgrounds. Brookside is on a cliff overlooking Lake Erie. Stayed there for a few days in late August 2011. Pros: Easy to find, level lots, reasonably priced. Cons: No pool, Nice beach but not easily accessible: Had to climb very carefully down a long set of steps. Couldn’t easily enjoy the view of the lake, except from very few sites. Did not check out the bathroom facilities. Recommendation: Decent place to stay for a night or two. - FifthWheel Travelers
Jun 2011 - $34.00
This was probably a nice campground at one time but it hasn't been updated in 20 years. Shared water/electric hookups and uneven lots make setting up a challenge. Woodall's lists lake swimming, but access is via a very steep, narrow wooden set of stairs that need significant repair. Beach is all rock with lots of trash, including dead fish. Play equipment is in midst of wood and other items. Baths and laundry are seriously outdated. On a positive note: has a great site manager. - cmclark

We were in transit but planned to arrive early so we could drive through the lovely countryside. This area is known as the New York Amish Trail and there is very useful brochure and map of the area which the Campground provided. There are nearly 150 listed locations to explore including many Amish craft shops, museums and other points of interest. The Campground is also near the Allegany State Park which is beautiful. We intend to return and spend two or three days exploring the area more fully. - Alan S
May 2014 - $42.00
Thought about trying to save some money and camp weekdays. Don't do it at this place. They give discounts only on the most expensive sites but you don't get to camp on them. A $28 site us Good Sam is $27. Sam with Passport. They say they have WiFi but only sometimes. Besides charging us a higher rate, they have pay showers too. I don't think our group will go back to this campground any time soon. - shell5
Oct 2013 - $29.00
The rate reflects a blended discount using Passport America. This park is not a good choice if you are simply looking for a spot to stay overnight. It is too far from the Interstate. If, however, you need or desire to stay in the area then it is the best, if not the only choice available. The Wi-FI is offered, I was never able to get a strong enough signal to use it. Owner admitted the signal is weak. If you want TV then you will need your own satellite dish as it is too remote to receive over-the-air signals. We have stayed here before to enjoy the area that is predominately Amish farms. - Don A
