This is a very nice state park. We loved going to Glen Isles Lodge for lunch and visiting the falls. The park has loops where no dogs are allowed and loops that dogs are allowed. You can choose sunny or shady spots too. We camped at Letchworth State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Awesome park for scenery and trails especially viewing the falls and gorges. Unfortunately, this state park has been neglected in regards to roadways, campsites, maintenance, etc. It was probably a fantastic place some 5-10 years ago. Sad. It is still a place to be seen though. We camped at Letchworth State Park in a Motorhome.

Camping loops were basic to above basic. The park is large and not much can be accessed directly from campground. You do need to drive from campground to trails and such. Keep in mind the park is about 17 miles long. Trail 18 is located within campground. Pretty social campground with actives. Some loops have new bathroom families. Some loops overlook the cliffs to the gorge however the views are obstructed mostly by trees. I can imagine spring being clear possibly. Some of the scenery and trails are pretty spectacular. The in park dinning is actually pretty good and the facilities open, clean. Firewood is over priced here and the camp store has limited hours. We camped at Letchworth State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Trail 18 is adjacent to the campground. Most other trails require you to drive to them from the camp area. Grab some maps! Some of the trails are very easy with big rewarding views. Some are difficult ! It's hard to tell from the maps they provide so you will be best served asking not guessing!

Our site was a little soggy, didn't really dry up during our week long stay. Lots of loops in this campground, some dog friendly. We stayed non sewer site. Bathrooms rooms were old, quite tired, but served their purpose. None of the campground itself connects with any of the many walking trails, so you have to get in a Car to drive to them. Would be good also to have at least a walking path along side the main road through the park, and that leads into the campground. We camped at Letchworth State Park in a Motorhome.

Having a problem with puddles and mud. Yes, it has been raining a bit but maybe if the sites were level and maintained with more gravel there wouldn't be mud. Overall, this state park is outstanding for waterfall viewing. We camped at Letchworth State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Rate was for non-resident and included a $9 transaction fee. We did not pay an entrance fee. Site was a gravel, back in, 50 amp site without water or sewer. Many of the sites are sloped and require blocking. Many of the sites were wet and muddy from recent rains. We did not try our DishTV because of the trees. Verizon cell and internet reception was weak at the campsite, but improved with a weBoost signal booster. Letchworth State Park was beautiful, but the camping experience was only adequate. We would stay here again. We camped at Letchworth State Park in a Motorhome.

My husband and I were so impressed with how perfectly kept this park is. The trails were clear, vast expanses of lawn neatly trimmed, everything left pristine to truly do justice to the natural beauty that surrounds you. Don't hesitate to make reservations at this gem of a park. We camped at Letchworth State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Well Letchworth State Park itself is absolutely gorgeous! But do not depend on the pictures of your campsite they are very misleading. The sites we had chosen (811 and 813) were pictured as level, large and sunny. The sites were none of the above. Trying to level our campers took 1-2 hours. Our fire pit was in the mud and we had to move it closer to the road along with our picnic table, to be anywhere near dry land. Plus behind these sites is the sewer line. I'm sure there are many nice sites to be had at this campground but these aren't it. The camp store is well stocked and had a lot of supplies. Like I said the State Park itself was beautiful, try the whitewater rafting, it was amazing! We camped at Letchworth State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We really liked the park. We were here during a very rainy spring and didn't hike that much because of how wet it was. Construction was also going on at the upper falls, so we couldn't get to see them very well as they were blocked off. Lots of vistas of the gorge and areas to picnic. We definitely plan on going back. Some sites are very close, depending on the loop (700). Loops at far end near gorge are more private. Loop 700 is the most modern loop. Pet loop and loop's road is paved. Very new, modern restrooms, family changing/shower rooms. It's also close to camp store and playground. Good size playground. Also basketball courts. Campground is 10 miles from the falls area and visitor center/gift shop, which is quite nice. We camped at Letchworth State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Town of Mt. Morris is just outside the south end of the park. Small, quaint town with pizza shops, grocery, McDonald's, Rite-Aid, fuel, camp wood. Watch for deer as you come approach town and within the park along the road. Go visit Mt. Morris dam, nice visitor's center, and tours going down into the damn for free; but adults have to bring ID for security purposes.

It's easy to see why this park is rated #1 among state parks. Facilities were very good and the gorge and waterfalls are great. Friendly staff, well-maintained facilities, nice trails. Our bathroom in the 700 loop was modern, well-maintained and very clean. Also slightly heated. RV sites are well separated, lots of trees, and have electrical (ours only 30 amp). Minor downside was that water spigots were scattered around the campground, not at each site, so occasionally an RV would block the camp road while filling up with fresh water. Three dump stations on the exit road from the campground - might be a little crowded during rush periods. Verizon signal was barely evident at 2 bars - enough for phone calls but not for fast internet. Gravel sites and asphalt roads. More than half the sites in our loop looked like they were on a slight slope or uneven, and would require some leveling blocks. 743 was swampy due to recent heavy rain. Total cost for two nights averaged in at $40 -- $35 per night plus $9 reserve america fee. Would definitely stay here again, in dryer weather, to do more hiking. We camped at Letchworth State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Fill up your fresh water tank before you back into your site. Water spigots are scattered throughout the campground and not specific to each site. (Though we noticed one of the spigots very accessible to site 705, so if you stay there it would be easy to refill without moving your rig. There may be other sites with similar configurations.)

Overall Rating:

It pains me to write a somewhat negative review about this beautiful park, but something has changed over the past couple of seasons. The two sites across the street and next to us had way more than 2 vehicles each and somewhere around 25-30 younger guys between the 3 sites. Loud music, yelling all day and not one ranger came through the loop to quiet them down. Just because it's not during quiet hours doesn't mean you can run wild. NY state must have cut back on rangers and the park police are all busy with their radar going to catch people driving over the posted speed limits with the rest of the park. Very disappointing - the more groups they let get away with this level of noise, work will get out that it's party town and completely ruin the campground for families. We camped at Letchworth State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed here because we wanted to explore the park in depth, which we were able to do. Our site was most spacious, as almost all sites were, with fire rings and picnic table, some privacy. We were located in one of the 2 or 3 (of 8) loops that allowed pets and, even though we have no pets, we had no complaints. Our first site required extreme blocking, using every single block we had with us. On our last night, we moved to a level site in a different loop, so we could get off to an early start in the morning. The restrooms and showers were cleaned daily, but they were full of mold and spider webs. The showers had good water pressure and were very hot. We camped at Letchworth State Park in a Motorhome.

Be careful booking if you have pets. Pets are only allowed in loops 100, 200 and 700 and you need to show a rabies certificate at check-in. Our site was just long enough for our 40 ft MH with the Jeep parked nearly in the road. Site was level and private. Electric hook-up only. We filled water tank on the way out. Three pump outs at dump station. Park is 4,000 acres. Gorgeous scenery. 10 miles from campsite to Visitor Center.
BEWARE that Portageville entrance is closed for bridge construction until further notice. Our Magellan GPS routed us this way and we had to take a long detour to enter at the Castile entrance and then had a long drive to camp registration. The Perry entrance is closest to camping. We camped at Letchworth State Park in a Motorhome.

Thurs/Friday, Saturday June 3-5. Site 708

This park was rated the number one park in the nation last year and it deserves it rating. The campground with 270 electric sites has five non pet loops and 3 pet loops - need to show rabies certification. There are some big sites and a number of un-level sites and it is hard to tell from the description on Reserve America. The campground sites with pets were booked the weekend we were there. Bath houses were very clean and they are individual rooms with 4 toilets and showers in each loop. There is a fitness trail along the campground road and when we were there wild flowers were in bloom. The park itself is huge with 14,350 acres along the Genesee River. The Gorge with its huge walls and the river winding its way is beautiful and there are three major waterfalls - Upper, Middle (which is lit at night) and Lower. Many more small waterfalls, 75 trails, Museum, Inn, Nature Center, restaurants, restrooms and gift shops. The Gorge is ten miles away from the campground. The drive down to the Visitor Center from the campground is beautiful with pullouts, picnic areas and trails to overlooks. The Visitor Center parking lot is not big so parking for RV's can be difficult unless you go in the morning. Middle Falls does have more parking and Lower Falls has a big lot. Everyone should camp at least once at this great NY State Park. We camped at Letchworth State Park in a Motorhome.

Drive down to the Gorge in the morning if you don't tow and must drive your RV - ten miles away. Not much parking at the Visitor Center but ask there the best places to park along the drive. Just a beautiful park!
