Stayed on the Chipmunk Loop. Lots of trees. Sites are decently spaced. There are more 30 amp sites than 50 amp. Some sites are more level than others, so bring blocks. The roads in the camping loops are paved, which makes it nice for walking/biking, and of course no dust. There is another loop, higher up in the park past the swimming area. Those sites have fewer trees, but they also appeared less level and really didn't have privacy between sites. The lake is nice for swimming. The swimming area is divided into sections with lifeguards at each section, so little ones can be separate from older swimmers. It's a sandy bottom and the one section has a diving board. The only thing we didn't care for was that the area directly surrounding the water is concrete, not sand. So if you want to sit while out of the water, you have to go to the grassy lawn area adjacent to the concrete. In other words, there isn't a "beach" for kids to play in the sand right before the water. Just down from the beach is the boat rental and launch to put in your own kayaks/canoes. When we were there, we couldn't drive all the way up to the launch area; there was a barricade. That meant carrying in our kayaks--all 3 of them from the parking area. I couldn't see any reason why that was blocked off. Most inconvenient. Restrooms are older, but clean. Only 2 showers, but plenty of toilet stalls. In my opinion, they could take out a toilet stall or 2 and add showers. Water pressure/temp was fine; even a bit hot. Even with trees we could get local TV stations out of Binghamton. We plan on staying here again next year. We camped at Chenango Valley State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Plenty of people selling camp wood before you enter the park. Only one dump station, so can be busy on weekends. Gas and convenient stores just down the road by Rte 88 entrance/exit. Diesel, more substantial shopping, down Rte 88 to town of Dickinson. Important: make sure you get your water on board when you come in! (water is on dump site loop) The water spouts in the campground are not equipped to attach a hose to--they are for filling buckets or jugs only.

We camped here for the first time. We stayed in the Pine Bluffs loop on an electric site. It was shady and not too close to the neighbors. Other sites in the same loop were more open. There is a nice golf course in the park. The Pine Bluffs loop was walking distance to both the golf course and the beach area. We only stayed one night, but on a longer stay I would have like to rent a canoe or kayak to check out the lake. The only down side was that the shower had a push-button timer that only let the water run for about 45 sec. Also, there was limited hooks/shelf/bench to keep stuff dry while showering. However, the bathrooms were clean. We camped at Chenango Valley State Park in a Truck Camper.

This state park is beautiful. The roads need some serious work, especially the campground roads, which are terrible. We appreciated the 50 amp electric service, which was good, but the park has made itself a short-term-stay-park for travel trailers and motor homes due to the lack of water and sewer at the sites. That is too bad. The sites are dirt, but the roads are paved with serious potholes. There is a beautiful golf course in the park and a beach-type swimming area in the lake. If the roads were repaired and water/sewer added at the sites, the park would be full all through the season. We would stay again for a couple days. We camped at Chenango Valley State Park in a Travel Trailer.

I knew I would not get a site with electric hookup when I showed up but I wanted to stay at this park anyhow. So I chose a site in the Sunrise section (ranger stated it was more private spots). I stayed in site 6. It was a great spot. My 39' RV fit easily and any 45' would fit as well in this spot. It was nice and shady, had a lot of privacy, and was very level. The park is a nice park, not really large, but big enough. Riding bicycles within the park is great as the roads were empty most of the time. There was a beach area and lots of families were at the park enjoying a lot of the activities. There is a dump station with potable water. The water faucets throughout the park had no hose hookup so keep that in mind if you think you'll need water. The rangers and their help were very friendly and quite helpful. I would camp here again as I'd like to stay in one of the electric sites instead of boon docking for three days like I did. We camped at Chenango Valley State Park in a Motorhome.

This is a nice campground with lots of trees and a woodsy feel, but it was not very well kept. Our site had trash in it when we arrived and when we asked for a rake to clean it the maintenance men seemed put out. The bathrooms also needed attention and didn't seem to have been cleaned recently. Overall, we would probably return because of the woodsy atmosphere, but it would be good if they paid a bit more attention to maintenance. We camped at Chenango Valley State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is a nice park. Even better since they added electric to a couple of the bottom loops. If they had water and sewer I think it would be packed all the time. The sites are nice and deep and well shaded. It is a good size park with a golf course, a couple small lakes with a beach and a boat launch. Nice place to walk and bike. It is another park that would be exceptional with a little upgrading from New York state. Park employees very nice. We camped at Chenango Valley State Park in a Motorhome.
