Colden Lakes is an "OK" campground. The sites are very plain and have water, electric, and sewer. There is not much else beyond that as for amenities at the sites. The section that we were in had the sites on top of each other with about a 10 foot strip of grass between the sites. The premium sites that actually faced water were already taken up by the full timers. Many of those sites actually had wood decks built and sheds. The different sections have security gates for vehicles. In order to access your area, you need to have an electronic access card. You are required to pay a $20 deposit for the access card. The $20 is refunded when you turn in the card, providing there is someone there to take the card. We had to give it to the maintenance guy who gave us $20 out of his pocket so we could get on the road. The road to the campground is absolutely horrible. There are extremely steep hills to climb and descend. The roads are also in horrible condition deteriorating with numerous pot holes. We camped at Colden Lakes Campgrounds in a Travel Trailer.

This large campground has undergone some major improvements over the past couple of years. Although this park tends to cater more toward seasonals, there is a newer section to accommodate weekenders. However, the weekend sites tend to be very close together, so privacy at the sites is minimal. Also, the sites could use a little more grooming. We also noticed that many of the sites in the newer section are now also being rented out to more permanent, seasonal residents. This is reducing the amount of sites available to weekenders and travelers. The on-premises restaurant serves excellent food and offers live music on weekends. Swimming pool is great. Not much stock at the camp store. However, there is a large town (East Aurora) only about four miles away where you can get anything you might need. Overall, this is a nice campground. The reason that I gave it an (8) is because I felt the price is a little high for size of the sites. Nonetheless, we would stay there again. We camped at Colden Lakes Campgrounds in a Motorhome.

This is a decent park to stay in if in the Buffalo area. The surrounding area is very hilly, and I mean STEEP hills. If you are going to stay at Colden Lakes, be sure to come in FROM the east, not from the west off 219. The grades from the west are a challenge in a car, much less an RV. Other than the terrain, the park is pretty nice. The manager was very helpful. Most of their tenants are seasonal but there is a new area with FHU and pull-through sites that works for those of us just passing through. The grass hasn't established yet on those spaces though, so much of your yard will be straw. You will be out in the boonies (which we liked). This park has it's own restaurant/bar, which is good, because it's a long way to anything else. The food is excellent and the prices very reasonable. It was a wonderful convenience. There is no cable TV; we were able to pick up CBS and ABC off air. No Wi-Fi, but our Verizon aircard and our Verizon cell phones worked fine. If in this area again, we'd definitely come back. We camped at Colden Lakes Campgrounds in a Motorhome.

This park has updated to 50amp full hookup sites, big rig pull through sites recently. They are open from May-Oct. There's a restaurant on the grounds along with small store that stocks every Friday. There's a large play area for baseball or frisbies and a small playground for the children. Everything is very clean and updated. We will stay again when coming through the area. We camped at Colden Lakes Campgrounds in a Fifth Wheel.

This campground is slightly run down and in need of maintenence in several areas. They do have a nice restaurant and lounge that serves great food and is clean. Off of the restaurant, they have a nice big deck overlooking one of the lakes. They also have a nice banquet hall for group functions. There is a nice new swimming pool for campers use. There is also a softball diamond and three picnic pavillions avaiable for group use. There is also a small playground. The biggest detriment to this campground is that there is absolutely no water activities (other than fishing) allowed on any of the four lakes within the campground! No swimming, boating etc. The water in the lakes seemed somewhat stagnet, probably from lack of use. To get to the weekend sites, you have to drive across a narrow causeway between two of the lakes. This can be tricky in a motorhome or any larger rig, especially at night. One false move, and you could be down an embankment and into the water. The sites are spacious and clean and relatively quiet. We did have a problem with one overnighter in a beat up motorhome that insisted on staying up with a couple of friends drinking themselves into a stupor around the campfire and being somewhat noisy until dawn. We advised the management but aren't sure if any action was taken. The noisy party left the next day anyway. It seems that rule enforcement could be handled a little better by the management. The dumpster was overflowing trash onto the ground and the insects around it were unbearable. This campground seems to be geared more towards seasonal sites and longer term occupants. There are very few weekend/overnight sites. This is an OK campground for an overnight or short weekend stay. There isn't much to do for kids other than fishing or swimming. Now that we know what to expect, we would go back if only for a quick weekend getaway. We camped at Colden Lakes Campgrounds in a Motorhome.
