update on last years review. The state greatly improved the beach since last year. They put in a new retaining wall and brought in literally tons of sand. It was much larger and very clean. They also built a new bath house at the beach. We were once again in loop B which has electric. We had 4G Verizon and our hot spot worked well. Be careful when you book sites since some are at a steep and angle and reserve america doesn't indicate if they are steep or not. We saw loons, deer, and red squirrels every day. Older son did some mountain biking on the trails and liked them. This year we kayaked as well as used their 7 mile trail system. If you want a campground with tall pines and extra spacious sites, this is a wonderful choice. However, it is not a resort campground. We camped at Higley Flow State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

You are allowed 2 vehicles per site but can add a third vehicle for an etra $7/night. Good subs at the general store at the intersection of Cold Brook rd and Rt 56. Jake's by the Lake in Hannawa Falls (about 20 minutes from the campground) had lovely tables over looking the reservoir and great food ranging from burgers to gourmet entrees with an emphasis on locally sourced ingredients.

Great state park, hilly and wooded on the Raquette River Reservoir. We were impressed with the modern shower buildings! There are 2 central shower buildings and the one near loops A and B was almost new. Each shower has its own room with a toilet, sink, bench, and mirror. Loops A and B were full but there wasn't a line for the showers. We stayed in loop B and the sites along the river had filtered river views and you could walk down fish and kayak from the sites. The pads were asphalt and spacious. Read the site description since some pads were steeply angled and others had large trees next to them. Verizon cell coverage and our hotspot worked well but it was 3G so graphic intensive sites didn't load. Beach buildings were dated and the beach was really non-existent, just grass down to the river bank then step down into the river. Good but hilly biking. There are about 10 miles of hiking trails in the park. We saw a deer grazing along the opposite river bank early one morning. We will return. We camped at Higley Flow State Park in a Motorhome.

Beautiful state park with electric and non electric sites. We used a MH on site #31 which was nice and level and there are a wide variety of types available. No black flies here as they treat for them. Restrooms and showers can be a small hike but you have beautiful scenery to see along the way. Plenty of hiking and biking and a small beach on the Raquette River. We camped in September but imagine this place would be full in summer. This is the best of all worlds. We camped at Higley Flow State Park in a Motorhome.
