Overall Rating:

We are told new owners in their 2nd year, trying to rebuild a campground that was not maintained and also bring back lost business, due to past owners. Some positive aspects are a small swimming pool, most sites are fairly large, majority of sites have W.E.S., a few small cabins and RV rentals, planned activities on weekends, small well stocked store at office, Good working WiFi, and nice new owners. Now some of the things that need upgraded. Only a few pull-thru sites, with only 30 amp. Most sites are back-in only with very little shade provided and only on the back of the sites along a tree line. Most of the sites are fully open to the sun, which can make your RV very hot. Bathrooms are old and dated, but some new fixtures and counters were installed. They were adequate, but showers and stalls will eventually need to be upgraded. The roads are dirt with many rocks and potholes. We experienced both dry and wet roads, which are both equally bad. On rainy days the roads are muddy and potholes filled with water. Terrible and slippery situation. When roads are dry the dust is very bad. Campground seems to have a breeze, that blows often. This alone creates road dust. Passing autos also makes a horrible amount of dust, even driving slow. Unfortunately, the cars and trucks in the campground drive really fast, which blows a ton of dust and can leave you gasping for your breath. Golf carts are also allowed and campers drive these way too fast. We even noticed some staff members driving way over the 5 m.p.h. speed limit and spreading dust. This also lends to the massive dust clouds, which blow everywhere. Between the mud and dust, our Pickup truck was filthy everyday. We travel this area often and hope the owners will do something to improve the roads. Stone of some sort would be a great upgrade and solve this dilemma. If this is fixed in a timely manner this campground will be well on its way to becoming a truly great place to visit. We camped at Crazy Acres CG at Beaver Spring Lake (formerly Beaver Spring Lake CG) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

There is very little in the immediate area of this campground. Locally there is bar / grill, and a gas station. Nothing else of any importance. You must drive about twenty minutes into Oneonta for shopping, restaurants. Baseball hall of fame is about forty-five minute drive to Cooperstown. Not much else locally, so you will have to travel to find other things to do. Area is very pretty with the mountains, valleys, etc.

Friendly new owners continue to work hard with their ongoing improvements. WiFi is terrific in all areas now that they have installed wiring; so with a Roku stick, TV should be no problem. Added new playground, gaming equipment, updated game room, teepee, cabin with amenities. Campers are friendly. Some seasonal sites. Not a lot of shade but there are trees that give some shade sometime during the day. Added more 50 amp sites, so electric was no problem. Could run A/C, computer, lights, fridge etc. Gravel roadways not perfect, but I'm sure are on their 'to do' improvement list. Great activities at weekends, quiet during week. Tips for other Campers:

There are many area attractions, just be prepared to drive a little, BUT, in beautiful countryside. Lots of farm stands. Super WalMart, PriceChopper in Oneonta. Bar and grill in village, QuickMart, and Dollar General being built opening next month. About 10 miles from Oneonta (West) and 20 miles from Cooperstown (north) and 12 miles to Stamford (east).

Great place to stay. Went for memorial day weekend. Would have given 5 across the board but they had a problem with the power going in and out. The owner was awesome and very accommodating. Lots to do on site for kids. From fishing to kayaking to activities. Would definitely come back. Gravel road in. Very spacious camp sites. The owners are 6 couples who bought this campground a year ago. They are making a lot of updates. Very nice people that we met. Nice store. Must ring the door bell at the office and someone will meet you. They are out on the property working. Would stay again. This campground has new owners who are trying to update it slowly. It is very spacious but with very little shade only on the borders of a very big field. Upon reservation we asked for good internet and were assigned a site, only to find the internet totally broken down. Three days later, after some repair it worked in a spotty way. The worst was electricity. Our surge protector was constantly cutting the power, as it was almost always less than 100V. It would not support even a fan in addition to the fridge. The weather was hot enough for AC but we toughed it out. The owners were sympathetic but will only deal with the problem after the end of the season. They seemed overwhelmed with all the necessary expenditures, to our view not able to prioritize. The showers could use revamping, the shower heads are so old that water squirts all over and the rooms have a really old dirty feel. Laundry room was ok. We stayed two weeks, the first on PA and the second on weekly rate that seemed way too expensive for what we were getting, but we had things to do there. Otherwise we would have left much earlier. It is unlikely that we go back. We camped in a motorhome. We camped at Crazy Acres CG at Beaver Spring Lake (formerly Beaver Spring Lake CG) in a Motorhome.

Oh wow! We were desperate for a place to stay, as it was July 3rd. But we found ourselves at the available, now called Crazy Acres. Great people! We pulled into our site, hooked up, and sat outside as the kids enjoyed a tractor ride around the campground. The sites were grass! Yay! And had nice clean picnic tables, and fire rings! I kid you not.. you never felt like you had to chase someone down or go to the office to find someone. The staff was always visible. I really do hope this park succeeds with these new owners. 3 night stop over on return trip from Lake Placid to NJ, wish we could have stayed longer. Excellent park, very clean restrooms....lots of activities for the children and teens, fishing, boating, playground and pool. Large sites with full hookups at a reasonable price. New ownership is working hard to update and improve infrastructure and facilities. Camp store nicely stocked and open. Thanks to the new owners, Great time... We hope to return and look forward to our next stop. We camped at Crazy Acres CG at Beaver Spring Lake (formerly Beaver Spring Lake CG) in a Travel Trailer.

Went to Crazy Acres for Memorial Day weekend 2017. New owners are very nice and go above and beyond to make you happy. The full hook up site (minus cable) was spacious and pretty level which was great. The sites are very open and although it was cloudy or raining my entire stay I'd say 50% of the day you would not have any shade (at least where we were). There are many activities for kids, pool, game room, bath house, catch and release fishing pond, nice walking area for dogs, camp store, free WIFI, LP fill and dump station. Cell phone service worked well but for Rv'ers who wish to watch a little television you won't get anything unless you have a dish but who cares, you're glamping right? City of Oneonta is about 20 minutes away with your normal Box Stores. I would have given more than 8 stars but the short dirt road leading to the campground needs some work, I'm pretty sure the residents on it don't mind that campers will most certainly drive slow. The dirt roads in the campground need some work with some pot holes (which aren't terrible) but if you do the speed limit (5mph) you will be fine. Like I mentioned, this place has new owners and they are fixing other problems left by old owner(s) as well as daily tasks so I would bet money on it that the roads in the campground will get better in the future. Being Memorial Day weekend rate was $45 per night, normally $40. Like many other campgrounds no discounts on holidays. We will be returning here in the very near future. I will venture out more weather permitting on my next trip and will post another review, I don't anticipate my review going lower as I see that this place will be great during the summer. This park is now called Crazy Acres Campground at Beaver Spring Lake-new owners. We stayed overnight in our 40' Fifth Wheel in an area that hadn't been mowed yet, designated for Passport America discount sites. It is well off the beaten path. Very quiet and a nice campground overall. The free wifi was better than any in recent memory. No over the air tv signal but Verizon cell signal was just fine. Not easy to get to so not a good overnight spot. No TV reception. Good cell and Verizon aircard signal. Mostly a huge open field with sites around the edge. No shade other than the shadows from the forest edge trees. Roads are gravel and easy to maneuver. Sites are grass and most are not very level. Full hook ups with electric and sewer in the expected location but the water spigot was not that close. Expect to probably need a 25ft water hose. The bathhouse was very rustic and old. I rated them as clean because they were but they did not look very nice. Large selection in the camp store. The nearest store was 13 miles away. The campground is not really near anything. I would probably not return mainly because of that. But, if I was already in the area I would return to this campground. I had to request(actually I walked thru and picked) another site. The one they gave me was very unlevel for my 32ft motorhome. That did not seem to be a problem for them.

Nightly rate reflects a monthly stay, during the month of May. This is a beautiful 50 acre property, with gently rolling expanses of green grass. There are trees interspersed throughout, but not enough to provide shade unless it's the right time of day. Sites are somewhat level, but there's no pavement or gravel, and ground is soft. Utility connections are dated. There is no cable TV, nor can you pick up any radio or TV signals over the air. On the plus side, there are nice walking trails, and the wildlife was teaming everywhere. The owners insist on recycling, and using their clear plastic trash bags, and it's quite a walk to the single dumpster near the office. Showers were utilitarian, but clean. The owners were very nice people. We camped at Crazy Acres CG at Beaver Spring Lake (formerly Beaver Spring Lake CG) in a Truck Camper.

This park is not easy to find. Not much signage on Hwy 23 and what there is, is very small except for one sign right when you turn, which is too late to turn if you're traveling 45 miles per hour. Very rural and rustic. Nice people at check in. Was taken to our site which is very grassy this time of year. We elected to pay the $4 extra for sewer hookup. There is no cable here but we have our own internet with our iphones and there is very good reception. For a one night stay it's a very good place; fairly close to I88 between Binghampton and Albany, NY. We would stay here again but my husband would be bored but there are activities to partake of. Not a good park for overnight as it is about 10 miles from the interstate. But if you want quiet and can put up with all the odd rules it is OK. The woman's attitude seemed to change when I said Passport America. The park even has a sign pointing PA quests to a separate field. There are strange rules such as all trash must be in a clear plastic bag. There must be two adults in the pool when swimming AND two adults with a child under 16. That means you cannot take a dip by yourself. I doubt we will be back to this park. The only reason we were there was the PA discount. Our rate was for 30 amp electric and water. Nice park, but off the beaten path. Not much to do in the area, we visited Cooperstown but it is a bit of a drive. We stayed here because we could use our Passport America discount. Grass was well mowed, but pool not yet open, even though it was very hot and would have liked to be able to swim. Nice distance between sites, best we have seen in any private park. Some of the buildings are in real need of maintenance. Several seasonal residents but everything was very clean. If you are looking for a place to just have some quiet time with no noise this would be a good a place.
