We left after one night even though we planned to stay one week. As a woman I felt very uneasy there. Nobody was there to check us in. No information was given. Told we had a 30 amp site but had a 20 amp. Very tight back in and pulling out. Owner friendly. It seems the campsite is for long term residents rather than travelers. - GailMOH

This review is 1 week before closing for the season. Roadway/driveway into campground was dirt/stone mixture with potholes you had to maneuver around for the first 100 ft.. CG owner escorted us to a shaded riverfront site we had reserved. Tree branches were trimmed back from road giving clearance. Once situated owner asked if we wanted wood for campfire, we ordered 2 bundles expecting the usual amount of wood. To our surprise when he returned there was 4-5 bundles worth of split loose wood. Campground was kept clean. There were just a handful of campers when we were there. Hubby had fun fishing the river from site. This campground is in an excellent location for fishing, views of the river and the mountains with fall colors right from the site. The electrical was a challenge…didn’t throw any breakers, but had to be careful when microwave or stove vent was used. Has me thinking that this wasn’t 30 amp service. The water hook up was a bit rusted where water leaked from hose. With our water tank more than half full we had plenty to survive. As I said before, this campground is in a great location for what hubby and I were looking for and the CG owners were great. We definitely will return. - carol

Very loud park with parties. The fireworks store never open. However it's beautiful location. - Camping diva

I need to preface this review by saying that we were at Peaceful Valley Campground for the NEAT (Northeast Electric Aircraft Technology) Fair. This is a one-a-year event for electric model aircraft. It’s the largest event like this in the US and, and more than likely, worldwide. There were 374 registered pilots and over 1,000 visitors and hundreds of campers. The area is beautiful having the campground nestled in a valley. It’s also huge. The management did a good job getting everyone to their site. Extra help was hired to keep the bathrooms clean although there were some shower issues. One evening I tried 5 shower stalls until I got one to work. Either the coin receptacle was jammed or the timer started but no water came out of the faucet. Overall, the bathrooms are fine with the nicer one near the office. Due to the valley, cell phone connection is iffy. There’s no internet connection although if you try to link up you can see the service for “Peaceful Valley Aerodrome” but you need the pass word to enter. When I checked with the office, the gal stated that that is the connection for the house. I don’t know why Arnie doesn’t offer WiFi. I guess we’ve just gotten accustomed to it at campgrounds, either free or for a charge. Now, if you want to just go there to camp don’t try to find a site map on the website—there isn’t any because there are no sites as we campers expect to see. Instead, there are rows of hookups-water, electricity and sewer. Campers park along these rows, nose to tail and fairly close side to side. For the event we attended, that was fine but for a camping vacation—no go for us. Of course, with the campground as large as it is you probably wouldn’t have someone near you unless it is a very busy weekend. - RCMicki

Stayed here for one night on the way back to New York. Stayed on site 39 with a 24' travel trailer. Site was huge and right on the brook. Very nice campground. Lots of seasonal campers. Had some pretty awesome tent sites in the back. Nice old water wheel near the tent sites. Bathrooms were very clean. Check in was a breeze. Just showed up and a site was available. No cell signal but was able to get one by the office. Great spot for kids as they have play area and a pool. Also have a camp store. - coffeebiker

I read some of the reviews and just had to comment. This campground is so beautiful! We have been there many times. There are four restrooms throughout the grounds, two of them with shower facilities, and they are all kept spotless. The staff is super kind and really makes you feel welcomed. Super family friendly campground. My kids beg to go back every year. They have 20 amp and 30 amp sites you just have to ask. The state hiking trails are easy to get to if you take the time to ask for directions from the friendly staff and don't just wander off in the woods. LOL There is canoe rentals , fishing tours and lessons and tubing in the river near by. The pool isn't huge but very clean. They have activities every weekend and hayrides. The camp store was open from 9am till 9pm when we camped there. I'm sure the hours may vary if you are there during off season but the staff always asks if you need anything when you check in even after hours. We love this place. I don't mind the seasonal campers it makes the camp homey and warm. We felt safe and welcomed. I would camp here with my kids even if my husband couldn't come. It's just a warm and friendly place. - campsitegang

What I loved most about this place is, its a campground and not an RV parking lot. Its an older campground that has been family operated for over 40 years. Its very welcoming with lots of character.. The grounds are beautiful.. The people very friendly.. I loved camping along the stream.. The restrooms were older buildings but kept spotless.. Bravo to the staff.. Every year we go back and it seems they are constantly improving the grounds. I'll be back Russell Brook !!! - camper2005

This camp was never a dump.. But, it is out of business now due to flooding of the beaverkill river a few years ago. - campsitegang
Sep 2005 - $25.00
Over-run by seasonals who keep their sites littered with trash. 15 amp service. They don't allow tote tanks - but will charge $8 for their dumping service. Bathroom garbage had something dying in it - was never emptied during our week-long stay. Young couple took over from father, office was never open during the week. Roscoe NY is adorable - this place is a dump. - flyingcloud

We read some previous reviews of this campground from last year, and based upon those reviews, decided to try to obtain a site. The former reviews mentioned a steep road into the camp as well as some tight turns, but we thought we could manage with our coach. I was wrong. We were told to pick any site our coach could fit into so we drove the Jeep around until we found a site that would be appropriate. I must also say that it had probably rained for several days prior to our arrival and the ground was probably saturated. It turns out the soil in the camp is a mixture of river sand and rock, covered with nice grass. As I attempted to back into our site the front end of the coach sank into the grass and the rear wheels just spun, digging into the soil enough that the tag wheels held the weight and we got stuck. The camp owner was extremely helpful in trying to get us out. But neither his 4x4 truck nor our Jeep could budge the RV. We had to have a wrecker winch us out. This is a really nice camp if your rig is less than 38'. I wish we could have stayed there for awhile. The owner was extremely helpful, and friendly, as were all the campers we met while there. Although this campground isn't the place for larger rigs, if your rig is smaller, you will love this place. The fishing here is said to be fantastic. - glenstmary
Oct 2016 - $50.00
The entrance to the park is not lit up at night so you better know where you are going. Speed signage and other signs going down the entrance could be more visible in the dark; either way go slow. We were escorted to our site which was easy to back in even with a 40ft motorcoach. It was so level we almost didn't need the jacks. It wasn't until the morning we realized what a beautiful and wonderfully updated campground it was. The sewer on our site was too far to hookup to - but no problem. The bathrooms were extremely comfortable and updated. If we had charcoal briquettes we would have used the permanent grills for meals. We camped with our two dogs who took full advantage of the proximity to the Beaverkill River. So close to downtown Roscoe and Roscoe Brewing Co. If I didn't have my own motorhome, I'd rent a cabin - adorable! - C Trifari
Sep 2016 - $40.00
They've spent a lot of money upgrading amenities. New bath and showers and paved entry which is a good thing since the grade is pretty steep. No sewer hook ups along the river though, which we were led to believe we would have. Store was nice and new but was rarely attended. We spent a couple of days trying to buy a bag of ice. Finally broke down and went into town to purchase one. Overall though a pretty good stay. - Rodmaker15

Go here for a quiet, primitive experience. We backed the trailer into site 14 on the Launt Pond site, which was level, paved with natural stones. It's very green and wooded in the hills of Upstate New York. The address is Downsville, NY, a pleasant little town. The other site at this campground is for equestrians who bring their own horses. Launt Pond is quite scenic and you can hike a considerable number of trails in the connected Bear Springs Wildlife Management Area. There are no pull-through sites and no hookups. Each site has a picnic table and fire pit and you can and must buy the local firewood to avoid carrying wood pests. The on-site ranger is eager to help and keeps the place clean and working. Even without hookups, we recommend it. - Dick and Linda

I don't really understand the poor reviews for this state park campground. No this is not a KOA. It's not intended to be. What it is, is a place to camp if you like a rugged kind of outdoor trip. The park itself is a heavily wooded Catskill Mountain State Park with nice scenery and a small river or large stream however you want to look at it. Trout fishing is outstanding. If your kids need Yogi Bear and water slides this isn't it. If you want beautiful scenery, great fishing, and quiet pitch black nights of old school camping: you should rather like this place. - GDM

The price reflects the service, amenties and style of the grounds. As for me I'll happily pay a few extra bucks for family owned and operated campsite. - campsitegang

The owners and family were polite and helpful. We had a site that offered a beautiful view of the Delaware river, also the site was huge (60'x100') and it was well kept grass. If you have children they offer canoe and tubing rentals other than that there are no arcades or anything like that so it makes the campground peaceful and quiet, which is the way we like it. We don't and won't use the public bath house anywhere so we can't offer a opinion on them. It is very pet friendly, meaning you don't have to keep your pet on a leash which I liked (I have 2 English setters) but it can be frustrating when someone else's dog starts marking on your chairs or cooler. The last 6 or so miles before you get there can be tricky , tight roads and low trees but if you take your time we believe it is definitely worth it. - Jim - Carol
May 2009 - $40.00
Simple pull-in for your Rig. Bathrooms are horrible - I was in a site closest to the bath house and that is what ruined our stay. Great for on the river - campground also runs canoeing and tubing business for the river - that was great. Most of the RV sites are seasonal. No sewer unless you are seasonal. Limited RV sites so make a reservation before going. A lot of tent campers with a lot of traffic on one road in and out of campground. No cell service and no TV via either cable or antennae. People nice enough, didn't really interact after checking in. No playground, no pool, nothing but the river. If you want that and tubing great. Just use your own shower! - Stuck in New jersey
