We stayed there for 4 days on our way to NYC. We stayed on the bottom hill and based on other reviews that was the better loop. The staff was super friendly. The site was mostly level except at the ends and since we are about 65' and in a 60' spot it wasn't the best. We have a motorcycle and you can't have motorcycles on the upper hill, where the spaces are 90'. They have a heated swimming pool which was still a little bit cold for us. There is not much to do in the park. The surrounding areas are very nice. Just a note, when you're going through town you might get a warning on your GPS for overweight vehicles. ignore it, I checked with the campground and that's what they said. There is no sign that warns about it. We camped at Black Bear Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The surrounding areas were very nice and had things to do. There is an Ice cream store called the Bellvale Creamery that was rated the #2 ice cream in the united states. It was good, but we also tried the Rock Creamery in Middletown and we found it to be better

Thank you for your review. We are excited that we are now allowing motorcycles in our lower levels. We have also begun to provide the following GPS warning: If you are following GPS it may send you on a longer route than necessary. Please set your GPS to utilize Interstates and main highways.
• If coming from the West, it is often advisable to program your GPS first to Scranton, PA; once in Scranton, then reprogram to Goshen, NY; once in Goshen, then reprogram to Black Bear Campground, 197 Wheeler Rd., Florida, NY.
• If you are coming from the Northwest or Southwest into Florida, NY, it is advisable to reroute to I-84 through to Middletown, NY, and then exit to Florida, NY, to Black Bear Campground.
• If you are coming from the South, confirm that your route takes you on NJ-23, then 94 to NY to Florida, NY for the easiest route in.

Beautiful campground with plenty of nature. We saw deer numerous times and a family of turkeys. Plenty to do for the little ones. Every worker we saw was very friendly. We hope to be back. We camped at Black Bear Campground in a Motorhome.

Thank you for your kind remarks. We are happy you were able to observe some of our wildlife. Next time you visit, keep your eyes open for our family of foxes, groundhogs (not everyone's favorite!), spectacular variety of birds, endless bunnies, and maybe even a black bear!

Beautiful, quiet park a little off the beaten path, but fairly close to transportation to NYC. The staff was pleasant and helpful. They had information on the various modes of transportation. The bus stop in Warwick was about 20 minutes away, had free parking and took about 2 hours into the Port Authority. The train station in Peekskill was closer, didn't have free parking, and went into Grand Central Station. There are over 150 sites spread over a large area you can see your neighbor, but they are not that close. Our site had a table and fire pit. We had a back-in site that provided plenty of shade. The pull-thru sites were in full sun. There are daily activities and miniature golf, basketball, shuffle board. An added bonus one evening when returning to our site we saw a doe and her two fawns in the meadow. The doe ran off right away but the fawns were very curious and didn't run away until the engine of our hybrid car switched on. Laundry was $2.50 and dryer was $2.00. We camped at Black Bear Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The train station in Peekskill was deceiving. In large print the lot said FREE PARKING. Underneath in tiny print it said weekends and holidays. We returned from our trip into NYC to find a $75 ticket. The meters were only good for 3 hours and we did not find any public parking

A bit off the beaten path, but there aren't many choices in this area. The park is very clean, office staff were nice. Our site was way up on top of a hill. Signs said to drive 20mph and "maintain speed" due to the steep incline. Unless your rig is seriously underpowered don't drive up that fast. It isn't THAT steep and there is a savage dip on one side of the road near the top. If you are going 20mph in a large motor home you WILL fling open cabinets and doors when you hit that dip. Ask me how I know.

Otherwise, the site was flat, water and electrical were conveniently located, sewer was too. Trees around the edges of the campsites, but no problem getting satellite reception. Site was gravel. Wifi worked and allowed unlimited devices which is nice for laptops, iPads, phones all connecting. Quiet too - zero road noise. As others have said the office and pool are a hike from the campsites. No escort to site, but sites were very easy to find. We had a back in site and it was fairly easy to back into. We camped at Black Bear Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Small town of Florida has some interesting restaurants. Beware the weight limits on local roads. Most large class A will exceed them. However they make exceptions for "local deliveries" which I assume includes RVs staying at Black Bear. Your RV GPS may take you on a very circuitous route as a result.

NYC is a a longer commute than you might think so if you plan to use this to tour NYC just be prepared for a 2 hour trip each way. There aren't many other choices for touring NY though, and you don't want to try to get your motor home much closer to NY traffic anyway.

Nice park near a nice town (Florida). Transient site up a hill, no problems. My back-in was level, very good WiFi & cable. My site was a bit far from the office & store, but within walking distance down the hill. Staff friendly, gave good directions to site, but no escort offered (or required). I Stayed overnight, would do so again. We camped at Black Bear Campground in a Motorhome.

Stayed for 3 nights in a pull through site. No shade and close to neighbor. Not worth the money and very noisy. Other campers staying on site for jobs left early in morning and started vehicles and left them running until they left at which time they peeled out of the park. So much for speed limits. No courtesy for others in park. We camped at Black Bear Campground in a Motorhome.

We were not allowed to use our motorcycles, they are not allowed and for that reason we would NOT stay here again.

Do have dinner at the Lobster Pier in Chester just a few miles away wonderful food and staff.

New York City Tour was good but rushed and the guide needs to retire.

Stayed here primarily due to location (close to NYC) and the tour package. The tour package is well worth the price ($115 per person), especially if this is your first time to NY. Park was fine EXCEPT all of the current pipe fitters living there and working in the area. Nice people, don't get me wrong, but for the life of me I don't understand their ridiculous need for loud exhaust systems on their trucks. Park owners should make an effort to keep all of the workers in the lower portion of the park, since most of them leave for work between 5 and 6 AM. If you don't mind the noise or wake up at this time of day, then your fine. Out of fairness to the park, nice park overall....just lots of vehicle noise and traffic. WiFi was good when everyone was at work. We camped at Black Bear Campground in a Motorhome.

We stayed 4 nights. 40 Foot Class A Diesel Pusher with 4 slides and pulling our toad. We have our own satellite dish, use our OTA antenna and seldom use cable. We have 2 in our party with a small dog. Hook ups were acceptable with no issues on electricity, water or sewage. We use the WIFI for basic, seemed OK. We have our own MIFI. What we liked: The staff was courteous / friendly on arrival. The site is crushed rock which did the job. There was plenty of room all around. We spent most of our time doing day trips so spent little time at the RV Park. We enjoyed the countryside for walks in the evening and morning. Dislikes: Loud long time guest feeling the need to warm up their unattended diesel welding trucks at 5AM! The roads nearby have weight limits in the city so the GPS takes you in such way to enter and exit with low hanging limbs and branches. All my top clearance lights were broken and had to unhitch the toad to make through some of the U Turns. Could never get a straight answer from authorities if OK to travel on the main road. Seemed like a set up to me. Price was right with what was offered and for the area. We would stay here again but can the park obtain clarity on the weight limit taking the better route? We camped at Black Bear Campground in a Motorhome.

The park is too expensive, which is the only reason for the less than excellent ratings on value and overall. It has good level large sites with convenient connections. Very nice and clean restrooms. The private showers were nice but we weren't too thrilled with the push to operate and single temperature. They staff was friendly and helpful though not experts on New York City. They put on some craft activities that our daughter enjoyed in the recreation center. We camped at Black Bear Campground in a Motorhome.

Somewhat expensive but understandable being close to NYC where everything is expensive.

They offer a guided tour to NYC which we took and was well worth the $115.00. Our tour was on a weekend so traffic was lighter than normal so our guide and driver took us for a short drive though Manhattan to see some extra sites like the Ed Sullivan Theatre and Radio City Music Hall. The balance of the tour was Time Square, Ground Zero, Ellis Island and of course the Statue of Liberty.

We stayed in a pull thru close to the office but most of the sites are up on the hill which is a steep climb to get there plus it's a long ways back to the office or pool so most people would drive there than walk. We camped at Black Bear Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We are pipe fitters and stayed at this campground from march to October of 2016. This was the only campground available at the time which is why we had to stay. We payed almost $1500 a month! By far the most expensive campground we have ever stayed at. There is no playground, the first campground we've been to without a playground. They would not let you drive RC cars there because it was "disturbing" others; which is not true because it is no louder then a vehicle. We always made sure to ask if it was bothering the neighbors and they always loved watching them and didn't have a problem with them. Our children and my brother loved playing with these and for them not to allow them was ridiculous. Also they said we had very messy spots which is not true by any means. The spots are super close! We have a 40 foot fifth wheel and our slide out almost touched the next camper beside us. I would not recommend this campground. We camped at Black Bear Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a nice park but pricey. It is quite a distance from NYC but we took the commuter rail that was easy to use and about 15 miles away. They did not have any info to speak of about the rail system but referred us to the Internet. They also had very little info about the area or tourist info so plan on doing your research before you get there. The staff was not unfriendly or friendly. Just doing their job. The laundry was clean but small and no frills. We had plenty of room for our 42 ft trailer at the site but did have to be careful on the drive in the park. The upper level was more for bigger rigs and that is where we were. We camped at Black Bear Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a large, reasonably spacious campground. A fair number of permanent residents but nothing too rundown. Some very nice restaurants close. This is a fairly large campground with an odd lay-out. It looks like some additions are underway. As mentioned in other reviews, there is a steep hill you climb after registering; you pass a section with several "permanent" residents, then come to the upper section with more transient sites. The roads are paved, and our site was gravel and very long with no trees so we had no satellite issue. All other utilities worked well. The wifi worked well, but we had to sign in quite often. The campground is functional, but it is not very attractive, and there is not much in the immediate area. We felt it to be pricey relative to other campgrounds. Nice campground although a little pricey. Access roads are all paved and the "steep"hill previously mentioned was not an issue with our 44' coach and toad. Friendly staff, clean sites that were long and level. We will definitely stay here again. We camped at Black Bear Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Several attractions near here, with the biggest must see being West Point. Great tour there with several "off the bus" stops. Don't miss the visitors center and the West Point Museum. The military history of our country as well as spectacular scenery of the Hudson River were amazing.
West Point is about a 25 minute drive from the campground.
