We reserved our site months in advance as we wanted to be on the water. We had a level site right across from the beach. This campground is primitive with no electric, water, or sewer. There are water spigots to fill up your tanks and a dump station for your departure. A couple of times of day a wood seller and a mini school bus drive around selling ice, worms, etc... Our relatives rented one of the mooring buoys and we had the best of both worlds. We have stayed here numerous times and definitely will be back. We camped at Rogers Rock Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Our 2nd trip to this primative campground. Some of the sites are full of roots so it gets to be a pain. However, the campground is a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle. Great priced and close to the town of Ticonderoga for whatever you need. The fishing was great as was the lake. If you are a hiker, bring your boots to go to the top of the rock for breathtaking views. It is a moderate hike. The supply trucks go around several times a day and you may want to invest in a small generator to keep your battery charged. Some of the fire rings on the sites further from the lake need to be upgraded but they still work. Great place to unwind. We camped at Rogers Rock Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This was our first "primitive" campground with our trailer. There are no hookups of any kind. The campground is very clean as are the bathrooms and showers. There are custodians that clean the bathrooms at least twice a day and clean up the campsites immediately after a camper leaves. The showers are private and there are 6-7 of them per loop. The dump station is spacious and there are plenty of dumpsters for your trash. Depending on your loop the beach of Lake George is a short walk. The beach is very nice with a small swimming area roped off and a lifeguard that is very attentive. The supply truck with firewood and ice and some other things comes by a couple of times a day and is reasonably priced. There are some very steep hills so keep an eye on the kiddies because there is the potential for some severe accidents if they try and ride their bikes, scooters, wagons down them. We had a trip to the emergency room from a runaway wagon versus tree. The town of Ticonderoga is a short drive and has whatever you need or forgot. A sensible investment is a small gas powered generator to keep your battery charged. There is absolutely no cell phone service so keep that in mind. The roads are tight but take your time and you'll be fine. We will be back. One suggestion for the campground is to put in a playground in the future. My finance and our five children ages 8-16 camped here at a single site in two tents and we all decided that we would definitely be returning to camp here again next year. It was our first trip of the season and it whet the kids' appetites for camping. SITES: We used the Reserve America site to book our site in May. While many of the sites were rather close together the earthy soil most provided for tent sites was very giving and almost comfortable.(Sites 58-75 and 130-124 were very nice- close to the lake and/or brook with the exception of 65! 65 was small and seemed to be on right in the middle of the "bathroom highway trail".4, 6, 9 and 11 offered some privacy and were right on the sandy beach used for swimming.) All the sites had a nice picnic table or two and the concrete fire rings each had a largely spaced grate on which we placed our grill tops from our Weber at home. The campsites are very clean and downed twigs/branches for tinder are hard to come by. We purchased firewood at a small shop not far from the park. PETS: Sadly, we didn't see many furry friends but the upside was that we didn't hear any late at night or in the morning or step in their poo, either. THE BEACH: The swimming beach was a bit of a disappointment. The water looked beautiful but only a small portion of the beach was roped off and available for swimming. ALSO, swimming was only allowed when the lifeguards were available (2 young 20s girls) and they restricted the kids to 1/2 of the roped area and the children were not allowed to bring in any of their tubes, floaties, beach balls, or eye masks/goggles/snorkels. It was a pretty huge let-down and the snooty lifeguards (one read a book barely in view of the beach even though she was "on-duty") didn't help! What was even more of a disappointment was that the children weren't allowed to take a dip in the lake by our site- I think it called out to them then entire stay!!! Oh, the beach sand was great for the kids to play in and they did find loads of "fun" freshwater snail shells in the water. BOATS/KAYAKS/CANOES: While many people had a great time on the lake, sadly, the park didn't offer any rentals:( THE STORE: While there wasn't a camp store available for forgotten items, there is a Wal-Mart about 15 minutes away in a neighboring city. THE PLAYGROUND: While there wasn't a formal playground, there was a common lawn where the kids were allowed to set up our volleyball, badmiton set and still have room for a game of football. Don't forget your toys! RESTROOMS & SHOWERS: The restrooms were OK, small but usually pretty clean. The showers were exceptionally nice and practically immaculate. There were six at the site near us and they were very large, free, and had plenty of hot water! The one drawback was that you had to push a button to make the water continue to spray every 90 seconds or so. I guess that's the price you have to pay for a nice, hot shower, though and it was worth it. So overall, this is an amazingly beautiful place to camp and is well worth a visit. We camped at Rogers Rock Campground in a Tent.

Nice state park. Big sites clean showers and bathrooms. Supply truck comes through 3-4 times a day in the morning with hot coffee and tea, at night with firewood and there not over priced. Of course the reason you come here is Lake George and it's nicer here than down at the south end (busy) of the lake. They have boat moorings if you have a boat too! I've been here 3 years in a row and will continue to make it one of our annual trips. We camped at Rogers Rock Campground in a Tent Trailer.

Site was covered in cigarette butts and other misc. litter. Apparently they had some major rain because there was a large gulley carved out by rushing water which ran right through our small campsite. Our neighbors arrived the second day we were here, and were undoubtably the most obnoxious people we've ever encountered at a campground. Besides the continual setting off of their car alarm (at all hours), they took great pleasure in playing their music as loud as humanly possible. They were so annoying that other campers from across the grounds could be heard heckling them throughout their stay. This was our only solace as after the 4th day of such antics I finally told the supervisor that I could not take it any longer and that I was leaving the grounds until they packed all their things and were gone. He told me that they were leaving that day and that he should have known that this was going to happen as they had the same problem with them the year before. Hellloooooo? Other than that, it would have been a nice time. It is right next to Lake George and should the staff ever grow a spine would be a nice place to camp. They have a wood truck and camp store truck that drives around for your covenience. It is nice not to have to run out for ice. Now if they could use good sense and control the population.
