A beautiful park. Lots of restrooms around the park. One shower room. Electric only but several locations to fill your water tank. Roomy sites. You're parking on grass. Our site was not level at all. One dump station and trash dumpster by the entrance/exit. We stayed here to visit our daughter who lives nearby. We would stay again. We camped at Kanakadea Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

I had a last-minute change of route, and this park was located where I needed to stop. On a June Saturday night, they only had no-hookup spaces. The web site said they were $14, they charged me the $19 hookup rate, and didn't give me my 10% discount for being old. I was too tired to complain.

The grass site was almost impossible to get level on, but I was able to spill over into some empty space and park sideways on a hill and after 2-3 tries, found a spot that could level.

All that sounds awful, but it's such a nice park I didn't care, and after all, it was a last-minute thing. Friendly neighbors helped me level. Beautiful location on a lake or reservoir; other campers said the fishing was great. Seemed like a nice family-oriented crowd, well-maintained lawn. I would definitely recommend one of the hookup sites, which are on level ground and very reasonably priced. We camped at Kanakadea Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Paved interior roads with open grass campsites. Limited shade and sites are mostly in an open field. Geese have taken over the lake front making walking hazardous if you don't watch your step. Lake is shallow and heavily silted, but OK for kayaking. Park gets regular local use for picnics etc. Close to I-86/ Rt.17 for an overnight stop. Lack of water at sites and poor area roads means we probably won't be back. We camped at Kanakadea Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This is one of our favorite little get away places. Very quiet. When we want a weekend to relax and unwind this is the place. Very simple camping with beautiful views of Almond Lake. Most of the electric sites are 30 amp and water is close by, but be sure to fill your tanks or carry water with you as there are no sites with water or sewer. There is a dump station. The park is close enough to town for any shopping, but tucked away enough to enjoy the peace and calm of the beautiful countryside. We will come back again and again. We camped at Kanakadea Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

This is camping. Quiet, peaceful, with nice views. This place is well maintained and has no extra costs or frills. Simply park and enjoy it. We traveled into nearby Hornell to antique, nearby Alfred to see the colleges and a few performances they put on and Wellsville for some Texas Hots (cheap diner food to die for). There were lots of college kids on the weekend, mainly playing in the park or picnicking. We camped at Kanakadea Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Very scenic camping right on Almond Lake. This park is operated by The Parks Division of Steuben County Department of Public Works. They do not take reservations; strictly first come first serve. A little risky in the summer, but we have camped here in the late fall and early spring with no problem getting one of the best sites. Of the 70 sites 40 are electric and 30 are for tent camping. There are a few upgraded 50 amp sites and the park supervisor told us they are planning on adding more sites and upgrading the front row of waterfront sites to 50 amp. Thus the increase in rate this year from $15 to $23 for the existing 50 amp sites. The park has wonderful facilities for families; basketball, baseball diamond, volleyball in sand along the lake. Bring leveling boards. There are water spigots available, but no water hookups at each site. There are three restroom facilities near each tent area and a bath facility near the park entrance. There is a dump station and large trash dumpster. Scenery abounds from every campsite. It is absolutely magnificent in the fall with reflections of the reforestation area above Route 21 reflecting in the lake. No swimming is allowed in the lake. Boating (non-motorized) and fishing is allowed. There are two boat launches. This is a public park, so you will share the days and sometimes evenings with folks who are just there for the day. That has presented no problem any time we have stayed there. This is a well maintained public facility. We truly enjoy it a couple weekends every year. We camped at Kanakadea Park in a Motorhome.
