3 Parks near Lowville, New York
Jun 2006 - $19.00
When I was a young child, my family use to go to this campground and my memories of camping there with extended family are some of the best childhood memories that I have. My wife and I and some friends decided to try the campground out after many years. I was a bit reluctant, having placed this campground in such high esteem based on those great childhood memories, and not knowing the current condition of the park. I was not at all let down. It is a small park, only 56 sites, but the sites are large, very wooded and some are electric. The swimming area is created by damming the Whetstone Creek. It is a very quaint, very nice campground with some excellent hiking trails and an excellent fishing spot at the Reservoir just up the road. We will return so that our children have good memories of this campground too. - camping lansing

The staff is very friendly and the owners are working hard to make a nice campground. The sites are grass with lots of space between. As far as we could tell, only #32 had satellite access. The tree cover is too heavy any where else. Verizon 4G service is strong and data speeds were good. There is campground wifi but the the speeds were fairly slow. It would be adequate for email and web-surfing.
Be aware that this park is right next to Fort Drum, an army installation, where weapons practice takes place 24 hours a day. At times the explosions can be quite loud. They woke us up several times during our week long stay.
There is an indoor pool, a hayride upon request, and a playground. During the week, the park is nice and quiet, but on the weekends local campers with their children in tow make it quite noisy.
Be aware that although our rate reflects the Passport America discount, 2015 is the last year this campground is offering it as they are now affiliated with KOA. - FnEJ

We arrived at the park and our reservations were correct. Very nice easy pull-through spot, and more important it was DRY. There was no standing water in the park, except for after a severe rain shower but puddles dried up quickly. The owners are friendly, the firewood is affordable, and the park is quiet. We camped over the 4th of July weekend, the owners had activities all weekend (nice). Even with all the people (around 130 spots)the park was very quiet. The bathrooms/showers are very clean and all worked. They have an on-site laundry facility which we did not use. The pool is indoors, and my kids tell me it is very nice. Over all a VERY positive experience and we would not hesitate to stay there again if we go back to that area. - Volker

Nice secluded campground. Sites are dirt with lots of pine needles which is a problem if it rains - which it did. Rate is the PA rate. It is about 60 minutes to Tupper Lake but the drive was spectacular with the fall color change. - rockfarmer
