The extra fee for out of county residents is a bit much. The electricity kept fluttering and was not dependable to leave on during the night. Maps and any information were not available. We looked into the bath houses and it wasn't a hard decision NOT to use them. They are filthy and smell. We will drive on rather than stay here again. We camped at Winding Hills Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

When we stayed again at this park last year, we were surprised to see the nightly rate had gone, in a year, from $20 to $35 for an electric site. The county decided to charge non-residents a $10 premium to stay in the park. Since we were set up before the ranger came by to collect, we paid for one night. We will not be staying again at this campground as the fee is simply not worth it. We camped at Winding Hills Campground in a Motorhome.

We stayed one night at this county-owned park on our way to New England. There was no one at the "office" so we picked our site and were visited later by a ranger to collect the fee, which included electrical service. Most of the sites did not appear too level. The provided map showed which sites accommodated what size rig and whether it had electrical service. Sites were generally spacious, located on a heavily wooded hill. Access for big rigs might be tight at many sites; the road, while paved, is narrow and winding. We think this park would be good for an overnight stop for people traveling on I-84 or NY 17. Fees on weekends are $5 more per night. Reservations are only accepted for the big weekends: Memorial Day, Labor Day, and July 4 when it falls on a 3 day weekend. Possession or consumption of alcohol is prohibited in the park; this message appears repeatedly on every building and in all printed materials. We would use this park as a stopover again when in the area. We camped at Winding Hills Campground in a Motorhome.

This is a very nice county park, tucked away, but very close to I-84 and roughly 1 1/2 hours to NYC. Sites vary somewhat, but because the campground is in a heavily wooded area, there is little grass. We stayed at site #29 with electric. This was a huge site. Most of the sites were really well spaced apart, but there were a few grouped together that would be ideal for family groups. One nice feature is the campground map. It is very detailed as to each site's size and electric availability or not. The main reasons I marked the campground down from an 8 or 9 is the lack of water at each campsite and the condition of the restrooms. I understand bugs-- they're a part of camping! But these restrooms need better ventilation and maintenance. One of the shower curtains in the ladies section was covered in mold. On the positive side, the showers were free. Some partying while we were there, but we've definitely heard worse. For $20 per night, this campground is a definite bargain and well worth checking out. Just come early on weekends-- they don't take reservations and the good sites go fast! We camped at Winding Hills Campground in a Tent Trailer.

The lake is nice to take the paddle boats out for 30 mins-1 hour. They charge $5 for a 30 min rental. They allow fishing. The sites were somewhat level but lots of gravel and dirt (no grass) so tent campers beware. You will get very muddy if it rains. Some of the sites were spaced out nicely. We got a site that was way to close to our neighbors. We heard them snoring at night. We were not happy that the quiet times were not enfored at all. Music was blasting at 2:30 in the morning from more than one campsite. Also, this campground is located close to a private airport so the planes fly over your head all day lond. They seemed to stop at night. The bathrooms/showers were also not up to par. No air circulation at all. There were tons of spiderwebs and dirty showers. I would not stay here again We camped at Winding Hills Campground in a Tent Trailer.

Very pretty park with lots of trees and a lake. Campsites are not very level with gravel and dirt surface but staff keeps them clean, raked and tidy; road through the campsites is in good paved condition but narrow. We did not have any problems with our 30ft class A, but would not consider this a park for big rigs. About 30 of the sites have 30 amp electric, none had water. Potable water was available at the dumpstation and dumpstation was easy to access. We camped at Winding Hills Campground in a Motorhome.

This 51-site facility for trailers or tents is in a heavily wooded area rich with wildlife, hiking trails, lake access, fishing and plenty of outdoors activities. Each site contains a picnic table and fireplace. The two large, centrally located comfort stations contain electricity and shower facilities, were well maintained and provided easy access from all directions. Reservations are only taken for Memorial Day, July 4th and Labor Day weekends; all other times are on a first come first serve basis. A well hidden treasure in the heart of the Hudson Valley. We camped at Winding Hills Campground in a Travel Trailer.
