Family campground: lots of activities, pools were packed, putt-putt golf course could use a little love. Our campsite (134) was wooded and perfect. Friendly staff, pets welcome. Quiet hours respected, but daytime was bustling during the day - naturally we are in their peak season. We camped at New York City North / Newburgh KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Our price was for a premium pull through. Good park. Typical KOA--lots of kids, dogs, and toys and unfortunately speed bumps. Very quiet though at night. Lots of trees. Many of the sites are back ins into slots in the trees. Paved interior roads which are a little tight in the corners. Sites are gravel. Our deluxe patio site had a nice patio and was quite spacious and for us worth the extra cost. One thing we didn't realize is this park is a long way from the interstate exit and entrances. It's about 10+ miles in either direction with a sizable amount of traffic. Just be aware. We camped at New York City North / Newburgh KOA in a Motorhome.

The military academy at West Point is about 30 minutes away and is really nice. Also we toured Hyde Park FDR's home and national library. It is about 40 minutes away and is also worth the drive.

We asked for and got a satellite friendly spot. It was a 90 degree jack knife and the road was narrow. I had to ask others to move their cars/trucks so I could get in ... and again so I could leave. There is insufficient parking in the area I was in. Otherwise this was a nice park. We took the NY bus tour which is offered by the campground ... highly recommended way to see NY City. Friendly staff. Above average park ... just need to fix the parking thing. We camped at New York City North / Newburgh KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Take the NY City bus tour offered by the campground ... let someone else deal with the traffic and the tour guide offers a lot of interesting info ... including where to get the best NYC Cheesecake ... that's all I'm saying.

We paid for 3 nights but stayed 2 with the other night in NYC. The campground is a decent distance from the Shortline bus terminal in Newburgh and this is a good option to enter the city. The bus ride is longer than expected because of stops. The site itself was pretty good, being roomy and well shaded. The roads were tight but we didn't have problems with a 38' trailer. While the bathroom was acceptable, the showers were pretty gross, with giant mosquitos all over the walls and ceiling. We would stay again but as a base for the city versus a camping vacation. We camped at New York City North / Newburgh KOA in a Travel Trailer.

We are a retired couple, so the kid-based amenities are of no value to us. After staying 4 nights in this park, we've decided to limit our use of KOA parks going forward. East Coast KOAs seem to emphasize kid-based amenities instead of the basics. Our first two nights were quiet, but the last two nights were a Friday and Saturday, and the place was crazy packed. Our "deluxe" site (R11) was at the end of a cul-de-sac, was a back-in, and was somewhat open but we were not able to lock onto all of the Dish satellites (western arc) despite being told our site was satellite friendly. The site was very tight, with our neighbors fire ring about 4 feet from the rear of our motorhome. See photo. We were thankful that our neighbor did not use it. Water pressure was average. WiFi was severely throttled after a certain level of daily MB use, so don't plan to stream a movie. Staff was friendly. Dog park was nice. Finally, and there is nothing the park management can do about this, but we did not feel comfortable around the guests at this park. We are a retired interracial gay couple, but we don't fly a rainbow flag or otherwise make ourselves conspicuous. We have camped all over the US, and have never ever felt uncomfortable until we camped at this park. Since we don't have kids, we've now realized that we should avoid KOAs going forward as they are not the best first for us. We camped at New York City North / Newburgh KOA in a Motorhome.

You better like kids if you're going to stay here. Looks like a great place for kids and families. Tight spots in the woods for big rigs. Very friendly when making reservations and checking in. Interior roads are VERY tight for a 40 foot RV, trees right up to the road, tight turns, and it doesn't help that some campers look like they're permanent and have things like easy up canopies right up to the edge of their site (aka too close to interior road!). We had a back in site with W/E only that was on a corner. Getting into the site with the corner and trees was challenging enough, and we shared the "driveway" with a camper already there with two vehicles. Not ideal. I guess we should have asked more questions when making the reservation, since we're early in the season and there were many empty sites. Site was hard packed gravel and level, interior roads paved. We stayed here for a few days while passing through the area. Over the weekend it was crazy with kids - and lots of activities for them, then became very quiet during the week. Very little road noise - just lots of birds and a few Canadian geese. Our Verizon mifi didn't have great strength here, but it was OK. T-Mobile and Verizon cell service worked fine. We camped at New York City North / Newburgh KOA in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Water pressure fluctuated between 40 psi and 52 psi. Power stable Leg 1 120v, Leg 2 121v. Promised a site that would be able to get satellite. Not true. I have Dish Network that uses the western arc satellites 110, 119 and 129. Impossible to get those satellites. Using the eastern arc, 61.5, 72.5 and 77 I was only able to get satellite 77. No HD channels on that satellite. Very limited Dish reception. Site was level with decent spacing between sites. Since we were in the 'Satellite reception area' there were very few RVs next to us. Campground WiFi is free. WiFi usage is throttled. The more data you use, the less your download speed. Once you reach 1G of data usage in a 12 hour prior your download speed is limited to 1 Mbps. WiFi worked for the first two days of our stay. It never worked again. Talked to office about the WiFi and was told they were 'working on it'. During our stay it was quiet with no campground traffic around us. Good road to the campground with gravel roads leading to our site. Our site was in a large open gravel area. Very expensive to park in a gravel parking lot and very dusty. Sewer connection over one foot above ground. We booked the New York City bus tour through the KOA office. We told the office personnel four different times we were traveling with a handicapped senior. When the bus arrived for the tour it did not have handicapped access. The bus driver did not know there was a handicapped senior on the tour. Our handicapped friend had to use the bus stairs for the tour. Very difficult for someone recuperating from a recent broke arm and recent hip replacement. We also paid to have our dog walked twice during our tour. The dog walker only walked our dog once. I have a video surveillance camera in our motor home to prove it. Very upset since our tour lasted over 13 hours! $73 a night is too expensive to park in a gravel parking lot, not have a handicapped equipped bus and not have our dog walked as promised. We camped at New York City North / Newburgh KOA in a Motorhome.

Although a distance from NYC, it's easy to get into the city either by car or on the train - we did both. The week we were there, the bridge over the thruway was under repair requiring an inconvenient detour. We selected out site for satellite reception. It was located at the end of a row and was very private and spacious. The downside was extremely low water pressure. This is, in my opinion, one of the better KOA properties in the system. We stayed here for a week and enjoyed the park. It was clean, the sites were wide, and we had some shade. The park was quiet even though it was very full with families with children and dogs. The campers followed the rules about quiet time and the care of their dogs. We thoroughly enjoyed this park. The free pancakes every day for truly a plus as were the staff. We took the bus to New York City which the park arranged for us. I tell you, it's the only way to see the "Big Apple" We traveled to West Point from this park and to Franklin D. Roosevelt's home and museum and also to Eleanor's Val-Kill home. Lots to do in this area.

Probably one of the best KOA's I have every stayed in. The interior roads are paved, narrow but Ok and sites gravel in a deep woods environment. The sites are long fitting my 45 ft MH and jeep and exceptionally spacious with typically 10-20 feet of woods separating the sites allowing a unique camping experience and privacy rarely seen in a commercial RV park. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring. Our site 138 was a deluxe patio 50 amp FHU PT site hence the high cost but very nice and well worth it. It had a wide concrete patio, gas grill, sunken brick fire ring, new picnic table, heavy plastic table with 4 chairs and a two seat heavy plastic swing. Wifi Fi was good. No satellite access given trees. Cable was available but limited channels. We did not use but noted the campground has large pools, playground, bounce pad, rock climbing walls, volleyball and basket ball courts, horses, mini golf. Getting there is a little challenge on many small roads but they have several signs and GPS map location works well. We camped at New York City North / Newburgh KOA in a Motorhome.

This campground was hard to get into and out of. The roads are very narrow and crooked. Once in the campground the roads in the campground are one-way and very narrow. The campground is in the middle of a heavily wooded area so satellite is impossible and the cable is not good. We were in a 43 foot motorhome with a tow vehicle that thankfully we had unhooked before heading to our site as we could not have gotten into our site with it connected. The site was very narrow with trees on both sides and barely enough room for our slides to be extended. If in the area again we will travel the extra miles into PA to a more big rig friendly campground. We camped at New York City North / Newburgh KOA in a Motorhome.

Since I like Satellite TV and don't really like being in the trees, I opt for one of the 3 back in overflow sites across from the office. I have found the sites down below to be tight and not worth the trouble to get in and out. The overflow sites are fairly level and are usually easy in and out. Perfect for one night. The night we were here, they were having a wine tasting which was nice. Tons of stuff for children. We camped at New York City North / Newburgh KOA in a Motorhome.

We had a Deluxe 50 Amp site for our 30 Amp camper. We had power issues: the breaker at our site was bad. It was hot, (89 deg F +), and we ran our A/C. A breaker in my RV tripped because of the low voltage and high amperage provided by the service box. They came out the next morning and replaced the breaker. It worked fine the rest of the stay. I thought it still may have been a problem with the camper, but we had no issues with the other two campgrounds we visited on the Eastern Seaboard that week.

We paid for a premium site, and expected everything to work, but there was no cable TV, and they would not give us a credit for not being able to provide cable. (sad face).

There was a LOT of poison ivy all over and the dogs transferred it to us.

We have been coming here for years, but will no longer even think of it. It's too expensive for what you get. We had to pay for services that we didn't get, and the grounds have steadily declined.

Wineries are nearby, but if you want something to do at the campground as an adult, go somewhere else.

Also: had to pay for pets, and a "resort fee"??? What is a Resort Fee?

Charged us for a Pull Through, when we had a Back-In. They refused to adjust that too!!! Never again... We camped at New York City North / Newburgh KOA in a Travel Trailer.

If you are passing through, or using it as a night stay for NYC activities, it may suit you fine. Poison Ivy all around the campground!!! Ask if they've eradicated it before making a reservation here, unless you are immune to it!
