17 Parks near Rhinebeck, New York
Jul 2016 - $55.00
We stayed here with another couple 4th of July weekend 2016. Our sites were very nice and shaded but were bordering a swampy area and the mosquitoes were vicious! We ended up with welts on our legs even though we had a campfire going and bug spray on! They had an Elvis impersonator for entertainment, which was hilarious! (Mostly because of the swooning of the women in the audience and his interaction with them.) The staff is very nice and the pool is very clean, although we didn't make use of it.
They have a small "catch and release" pond for fishing, but the adjacent lake is not navigable because of the vegetation. If you are planning to kayak here, forget it!
The campground overall is very nice, but a bit pricey. If you consider this place, request an area away from the wetlands. - grumpah
May 2016 - $50.00
Campground is spotless, great staff. Very helpful. Breakfast on Mother's day morning was delicious. Great coffee! Lot spacing was spacious with a sunny/open exposure. Site surfaces were gravel and featured a fire ring and picnic table. Well kept grounds! - Cyclegirl00
Aug 2015 - $51.00
A nice park with friendly folks, level sites. Build on several levels, expect hills to and from any site. - ta96silver
Aug 2015 - $23.00
We have experienced NY state parks that are well set up and well run. This is not one of them. The sites are strewn all over a hill side with cross roads that are steep and barely wide enough for a vehicle. Each site is identified with a number, but there is no indication at each "road" what sites are along that "road." Once the office closes around 6:00 pm, according to the signs posted, there is no one on site overnight. Of course, there are no hookups whatsoever. The place was OK for two mid-week overnights of dry-camping while exploring the area, but there's not much to recommend the place. The trash barrel at my site was packed full for two nights. The $5 surcharge for non-residents plus the $2.50 "transaction fee" (for showing up?) is the frosting on a lousy cake. I don't think I'd stay there again. - Jay Rutherford
May 2015 - $20.00
The campground is only five miles north of Hyde Park, where the FDR and Vanderbilt National Historic Site is located on beautiful route 9. So we stayed two nights without hookups near the Hudson River. The sites are not level but you can find some that will take RVs under 30 feet. There are bathrooms with showers but we arrived on Memorial Day and they were dirty and stayed that way for our two day stay. The host site was not filled and I think maybe the hosts are responsible for the cleaning? Nice hiking trails high up along the Hudson River going to the Marina and north of the park. Cottages are available for rent. This is a big complex of over 1,000 acres. In the park there are picnic areas, trails, bridle paths, fishing, two 9 hole golf courses, cross country skiing, sledding hills, snowmobiling and the Mills Mansion. - gsnakehill
Aug 2012 - $30.00
Great county run park, much like a state park, very quiet at night as it mostly gets day use. Seriously unlevel sites but big. - Mcewena
Jul 2016 - $57.00
This is a lovely family campground in a beautiful country setting. Cable worked very well and the water/sewer/electric hook-ups were good. We asked for a quiet area and appreciated being accommodated. The roads are dirt/gravel and our site was grass. There were lots of activities for families and kids. They had WIFI, but it was spotty. Bathrooms were older but clean. The swimming pool was popular. Owners are super friendly and helpful. Pricing is higher than we expected, but we did like it here. - R&S
Aug 2015 - $29.00
Rate reflects monthly rate. The last time we were here was 5 yrs ago. Improvements were made since then, more gravel on sites and better maintained . Still a family campground with lots to do for kids on weekends. Utilities were good, Wi-Fi on the weak side better during the afternoon. Friendly owners and campers. Would come back again. - norootsnow

Beautiful huge park with large separation between sites. Many of the sites are on grass. Some are on crushed slate. Roadway between lanes was not wide enough for a big rig.. If there had been another unit in the space across the lane from us, it would have been quite difficult getting a big rig in and out. With rain, this park gets a little muddy. Lovely grounds. This park is on multiple levels. Owners have put in stone steps between levels which is nice. Quiet part of the park is up on the hills. Much busier down below where the heated pool, hayride and activities are held. There are a few seasonal units in residence - all are beautifully maintained. Washrooms, laundry are all at the bottom of the hill so quite a hike if you are on one of the upper levels.
Many wonderful little historic towns nearby. - JanneC
Jul 2016 - $55.00
About 3 miles from the Thruway but easy to find. Roomy, hard packed surface, level sites under large trees. No satellite reception but 65 channels of high quality cable reception but no PBS. The best WiFi access I have ever had in a campground. I travel with a mobile hot spot because of poor campground WiFi, but I did not have to use it here. When a camper had a serious problem with the RV the staff was very helpful with repairs and got him on his way. This campground is a good base camp to tour the mid Hudson River valley. - Travlin Tarheel
Jul 2016 - $49.00
Poor outside lighting. Shower curtains too narrow and too short. Lots of roots make walking about the site difficult. Pool not supervised. - LSM55
Jul 2016 - $64.00
Overall this park is very wooded and will give you the woodsy camping feeling. We have a long 5th wheel (42 feet) but had no problem getting to our pull-thru site or leaving.
Activities: The swimming pool is "heated" but not a hot tub heat, more like once you jump in you immediately get used to the temperature type of heated. The fishing pond is decent, however keep your line away from the fountain, our kids lost too many lures casting that direction. We stayed 4th of July weekend and they only had campground actives on Saturday and not everyday like most places. There is a nature trail that takes you around the outer parameter of the park and there are a few enter/exit spots clearly labeled with signs.
Staff: the staff was friendly and escorts you to your site. They can be seen all over the campground, cleaning escorting people, garbage pick up every morning, etc.
Site: for the most part our site was level, we had to park in just the right spot to leave room for our slide-outs and awning. We felt that we had sufficient room between us and the next site to still have that private feeling. Electric was good, cable was a little snowy on some channels, wifi was just enough to check email, water pressure was low.
The only downside we encountered, which wasn't too bad, was that the fire department is across the street. They also have signs in the office when you check-in letting you know its across the street. The siren only went off twice while we were there and the siren lasted about 45-60 seconds. - AJay
Jun 2016 - $56.00
Stayed here for a week while visiting relatives in the area. Has a great pool for the grandkids. A couple of things; first, visitors are charged $10 per adult. This was an issue because family could not visit us without paying $20 per day. Also, they charge for use of the showers. I think this is the first campground we have been to with this visitor policy and with pay showers. The space was very spacious, we not very close to any other campers. The park is very large and easy to get lost in. I think if we make this trip again, we may stay at another park. - LDJohnsonAZ
Jun 2016 - $56.00
Campground has very large sites. We had plenty of room and the site felt very private. It is heavily wooded and would be much more attractive if they took out the smaller trees. We couldn't get any satellite reception. WIFI is pretty good, if slow. Verizon hotspot didn't work - because of the trees? Having so many trees makes the atmosphere dark and a little gloomy, in my opinion. Nice place to take a walk with the dog.
Entry area is very crowded and this seems to be a busy place so check-in took a while. - UllaPool
Aug 2015 - $55.00
This is a very nice campground. A bit tight for our 43 foot motorhome but we had a nice pull thru up front. Staff was friendly enough but seemed too busy and unable to give us much attention. We had no cable service the first night and spend much of the next day trying to get staff to help/provide updates. The cable was restored but there were not many channels and the reception on most channels was very grainy. Very forested so no satellite. WiFi was very good. Many restrooms spread throughout the park but showers were all up front by the office. There were plenty of them as well. The showers were 25 cents for eight minutes and there were no controls so you couldn't adjust the temperature or turn off the water if you finished early. The hookups were fine and the sites in general were level and spacious. Lots of activities for the kids. About four miles from the interstate and the town of Saugerties. - VegasVagabonds
Sep 2015 - $45.00
The park is very old and in the process of being refurbished. When it is complete, it will be a very nice park, but has a ways to go yet. Very nice play area for children with what looked like a nice pool. - living large
Jul 2015 - $46.00
This park was truly "in the wild!" Lots of trees and very unkempt grounds. They did have a small pool. Every time we went outside, we had to watch for snakes, which were plentiful. Most staff were not particularly helpful, but the owner was exceptionally welcoming and helpful. We truly felt like his main goal was for us to have a good experience in New York City. - Nibot
May 2015 - $45.00
We have returned for the summer this year to find even more improvements to SO-HI. We just love the rustic wilderness setting and the friendly atmosphere. The tranquil shaded sites give protection from the summer heat and make it possible to spend lots of time outside. Isn't that what camping is all about? The rates are very reasonable when compared to other campgrounds in the Catskills and the amenities are more than adequate.
I highly recommend this campground. It is family friendly and has plenty to do for those who want to be active and lots of laid back for those who want to be a camper potato!
I say try it, you'll like it! - Dealing Dennis
Jul 2016 - $64.00
Extremely well run park. Lot's of activities. Super clean showers and facilities. Fun stuff for adults only, kids only and family events. - Bill VDA
Jul 2016 - $58.00
Very nice park. Really back in the hills. FHU back-in site is really long and very level. There is a mix of back in sites and LONG pull through sites. Very quiet at night. All utilities work properly. Office staff and aids are super great. ATT and Verizon data and voice are okay. For long phone calls, we needed to step outside to keep a quality signal. Provided WiFi works fine. They have data usage limits but I never detected a decline in speed or service. Though a bit off the beaten path, this is an excellent place to stop. - moderate camper
Jun 2016 - $65.00
Overall this is a great campground, though a bit pricey. We stayed 5 nights (Thursday - Monday) and it is obviously a weekend getaway. Friday & Saturday nights were packed and there were lots of activities planned, including a band on Saturday night. By Sunday night, there were only a handful of us left, other than the full timers. Most sites were not very shaded, but were fairly level and easy to get in & out. My biggest complaint was the showers. They were very clean, spacious and private but the water did not stay on. You had to continuously hold down the faucet...frustrating enough when trying to wash your hands; even more so when taking a shower. Most of the full time residents were in a separate part from the temporary sites, and the full time sites were very well kept; probably the nicest we've seen. - wanderfilledlife
May 2016 - $25.00
I have stayed her many times over the years. My recommendation it to book early if you think you want to go here in the summer on the weekends.
The bathrooms are clean the sites are spacious I have no complaints.
You will not get cell service or WiFi which is fine by me! - suze1125
Sep 2012 - $27.00
Beautiful location, though the road up to the park is a bit steep & curvy. Sites seem to be mostly shaded with nice spacing between. Bathrooms are a bit old but clean. - liz&denis
Jun 2012 - $26.00
We stayed here two nights. The bathrooms were clean and looked like they were recently built. Private shower rooms were nice. I did not have cellular service though that might be a plus to some. Beach was clean with a lifeguard. We will stay here again. - C H
Oct 2015 - $50.00
Picked this place because it was the closest one from my place of origin. Internet good, but site was uneven, on grass, no clear lines of delineation. Never found the restrooms. Several run-down buildings. For the price, NOT worth it! - NFRS
Sep 2014 - $25.00
$25 is PPA rate. The campground was nice and getting better. Under new management and they are putting some money in it. The views were great, but not very close to the highway (10 miles). There are a few full timers, plenty of sites. Sites are not very level (pull-through). Would like to stay again for a few days. - bbnh2000
Jun 2014 - $40.00
Pricy for what's provided even with PA, but much cleaner than others nearby. Spent most of the time in nearby towns as there's a lot to see in the area. We were in a pull through and never had anyone next to us in four days. - Walt Bennett
