We called that morning and got site for that night. It was a pull through site, nicely wooded. All hook-ups worked great. We stayed one night on our we to Massachusetts. I would stay again. We camped at Rip Van Winkle Campground in a Travel Trailer.

The sites were spacious and well shaded. The bathrooms were very clean. Satellite bathrooms are plain but very clean. The main bathroom is quite modern. They have a nice snack bar and plenty of space to walk off the calories. .The staff is friendly, and the store is well stocked. I thoroughly enjoyed the stay and look forward to returning. We camped at Rip Van Winkle Campground in a Motorhome.

Heavily wooded park, grounds are very clean. Office staff was very nice and office did include a small store with the usuals. Laundry was small but clean and well kept. Wifi at our site was non existent but we were able to use Verizon hotspot. We had a nice pull thru with FHU including cable. Unfortunately the site number was posted on a tree past our site so what should have been a pull thru ended up being a back-in for our 40' coach with tow. Just one of those days.

My only real problem is the entrance to the campground. We saw no signage indicating where to stop near the office and it is very tight. So no matter what, you end up blocking traffic. Lots of seasonals here, but everyone was very friendly except the guy we blocked! We camped at Rip Van Winkle Campground in a Motorhome.

This was a great experience. The campground was quiet and clean. There is a nice stream that runs through the campground. People were friendly, the sites were flat, large and tree covered. There were lots of things for the kids to do on the campground. We camped at Rip Van Winkle Campground in a Motorhome.

This is an excellent campground in an excellent central location for exploring the Hudson River Valley. Gated entrance adds to the feeling of security, and the entire campground has the ambiance of camping among friends and family. Reception personnel are super friendly and efficient. Easy access to and from the interstate with no problems even for the largest rig.

Other reviews are accurate in stating that the forest canopy is quite dense so that it is quite dark in the campground even at mid-day. But the trees are well limbed up so there is little to no problem in maneuvering a big rig throughout the park and to any space that is advertised as appropriate for the size specified. I had no problems at all with my 40 ft motorhome.

The pool appeared spotless, as did all other amenities in the park including bathrooms and laundry. We would not hesitate to camp here again any time, and plan to do so in a future visit. Kudos to the owners and their team that do an outstanding job in maintaining a lovely campground that evokes memories of the very best of how things are done when done with pride. We camped at Rip Van Winkle Campground in a Motorhome.

Campground has very large sites. We had plenty of room and the site felt very private. It is heavily wooded and would be much more attractive if they took out the smaller trees. We couldn't get any satellite reception. WIFI is pretty good, if slow. Verizon hotspot didn't work - because of the trees? Having so many trees makes the atmosphere dark and a little gloomy, in my opinion. Nice place to take a walk with the dog.

Entry area is very crowded and this seems to be a busy place so check-in took a while. We camped at Rip Van Winkle Campground in a Motorhome.

Stayed here for a week while visiting relatives in the area. Has a great pool for the grandkids. A couple of things; first, visitors are charged $10 per adult. This was an issue because family could not visit us without paying $20 per day. Also, they charge for use of the showers. I think this is the first campground we have been to with this visitor policy and with pay showers. The space was very spacious, we not very close to any other campers. The park is very large and easy to get lost in. I think if we make this trip again, we may stay at another park. We camped at Rip Van Winkle Campground in a Motorhome.

Convenient park close to Woodstock, which was our draw. Campground is nicely arranged and maintained, as well as larger than expected. All sites seem buried in the dark large old growth forest, which is unique and nice. Many long term summer campers which were clean. I really wish I could have set up on a river site but it was for tents only despite being roomy enough for small RVs. We camped at Rip Van Winkle Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This is a very nice campground. A bit tight for our 43 foot motorhome but we had a nice pull thru up front. Staff was friendly enough but seemed too busy and unable to give us much attention. We had no cable service the first night and spend much of the next day trying to get staff to help/provide updates. The cable was restored but there were not many channels and the reception on most channels was very grainy. Very forested so no satellite. WiFi was very good. Many restrooms spread throughout the park but showers were all up front by the office. There were plenty of them as well. The showers were 25 cents for eight minutes and there were no controls so you couldn't adjust the temperature or turn off the water if you finished early. The hookups were fine and the sites in general were level and spacious. Lots of activities for the kids. About four miles from the interstate and the town of Saugerties. We camped at Rip Van Winkle Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Woodstock is just 6 miles down the road, but that's not where the festival ended up being at. That's an hour and a half south in Bethel, NY.

We drive at least six hours, two times a year, to stay at Rip Van Winkle Campgrounds. This is, by far, our favorite campground. The place is very well maintained by management and staff who really make you feel at home -- they will go out of their way to make sure you are having the best camping experience possible. The property is wooded and you feel secluded with privacy on each and every site. Our favorite site is in the section they call "The Ledges" which gives us a huge site with a large cliff face in the back that is all ours. There are so many more beautiful sites, but we come back to this one every time. There is a fishing pond and a stream/river that runs through the property and the vast property offers lots of trails and forest for exploring. There is an old fashioned swimming hole on the stream with a rope swing and a small beach which seems to be a gathering place for many. For those who need bathrooms and showers, they have them and they are spotless. How can they not be when they are checked by staff on a regular basis all day long? There is so much more I could say about Rip Van Winkle, but I don't want to spoil all of the surprises for others. I will only add that there is no place like it. I know you will enjoy your stay. We camped at Rip Van Winkle Campground in a Travel Trailer.

We overnighted here on our way home. It was pouring when we got there and our site flooded a bit, but it had dried up completely the next morning. A walk around the campground revealed a very nice swimming hole, a large clean pool, and some beautiful, large sites. The tent sites along the stream are particularly nice. I would make a special trip to camp here again. We camped at Rip Van Winkle Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This place is a little pricey, but for full hook-ups and free wifi, it's probably worth it. We had a pull through site that was fairly easy to get into for our 25' RV, and fairly level. There are a large number of trailers on sites that are there for the long term. Some are starting to look worse for wear. There are several play areas and lots of scheduled activities for the kids. This is a nice park and the staff was friendly, but I think we will look for something less expensive the next time we're in the area. We camped at Rip Van Winkle Campground in a Travel Trailer.

The campground is heavily wooded, and the sites were large with lots of privacy. We had a lot of rain and the trees prevented the camp from drying out, but the drainage was very good. We didn’t make use of all of the facilities, but after looking around, everything seemed to be well maintained. The showers were .25 for 8 minutes, but were usually generous with the time. They were clean with plenty of hot water. We will put this place on our return list. We camped at Rip Van Winkle Campground in a Travel Trailer.

BIG RIGS BEWARE!!!! We were really looking forward to staying here. The website makes it look great, but we were very disappointed. This campground is not big rig friendly. The roads are very treacherous to get in and out of, with sharp turns, narrow roads, and low, overhanging branches. We have a 38 ft. 5th wheel. We had a pull though site, which was nice, but I would only recommend pull throughs for big rigs. The back ins are very difficult to get into. The bathhouses charge $0.25 for 8 minutes of water, with no way to adjust the temperature. There were a huge number of seasonal sites, some very old and run down. There were also a lot of tent sites. The management didn't seem to enforce the quiet hours. The campground was very rustic and you really felt like you were camping. We can cross this one off of our list. We camped at Rip Van Winkle Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
