The trains are as bad as advertised in prior reviews, day and night. Site 28, which seems to be one of the very few available to transients, is the closest to the rails and has views of dumpsters, machinery, and the inevitable trains. Tree growth prevented the entry of our motorhome without pruning. Utilities were okay and the dish worked. Vehicle washing is encouraged. Office was seldom open. Only check or cash are accepted. Nearby towns have a variety of festivals (cheese, garlic, art, etc.) but the area is mostly farms and upstate small towns. We would not return unless it was for a major personal event such as the wedding of a close friend. We camped at St. Johnsville Campsite Marina in a Motorhome.

It is impossible to start the review of this park with anything other than the trains. If you love trains, by all means put this park onto your itinerary. Day and night. Freight and Amtrak. No fence. Keep your dogs and children contained. This is a city-owned marina and campground, with quite a few "seasonal" tenants, many of whom live so close they go home to do their laundry. Most other RVs are using it as an overnight stop-over since there doesn’t seem to be any attractions in the area. Sites are grass, with an older asphalt road making a loop around them. The climate isn't particularly wet, so the grass has a firm foundation. There are a few picnic tables. There is an older bath/restroom building, but a new building is under construction. Management is pleasant and competent. We camped at St. Johnsville Campsite Marina in a Motorhome.

Nice friendly park. Front row on Mohawk River/Erie Canal occupied with seasonally. Middle and back row have all pull thru sites. It was a perfect place for us to hold up days before and Labor Day Holiday. Good bike riding on the Erie Canal Trail with access about 1/2 mile from CG. Very nice grass area on river bank for boat watching. Yes there are many trains about 100 yards behind us and they thunder down the tracks but no horns since no road crossings. Visit Erie Canal Lock 16 about 2 miles west (right on the bike path) and Lock 17 in Little Falls. We found enough to keep us busy for a week in and around the nearby towns and still had plenty of relax time at the RV. Would definitely stay here again. We camped at St. Johnsville Campsite Marina in a Motorhome.

Nice municipal park and marina, beautiful location along the Erie Canal. Spacious site, I confess it was five parks ago so I can't remember many other details. All the riverfront spots were taken, presumably on seasonal leases. so they told me to pick any spot in the back row. On a June weekday, most of that row was empty.

It does abut a busy railroad, which may bother some but for me it's a plus. The trains are frequent but not especially loud; there are no crossings nearby, so they don't blast the horn as they come through. If you do like trains, this place is fantastic. We camped at St. Johnsville Campsite Marina in a Motorhome.

Not much shopping in town, so get groceries on the way in, or make a 6-10 mile side trip after you arrive.

Trains - Lots of trains. But you actually get used to them after awhile. Otherwise, wonderful little park right on the Erie Canal. Very friendly and helpful service, good restrooms and laundry, and plenty of WiFi. Antenna tv is a bit sketchy but can be dialed in. Good level sites stacked side by side, but easy in and out and should be accessible to any size rig. Good price on a comfortable little site (even with the trains). We camped at St. Johnsville Campsite Marina in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a small park co-located with a marina along the river (canal). Spaces and amenities are very basic with most of the waterfront sites occupied by long-term residents. Very active train tracks run along one side of the park, with trains frequently loud enough to make conversation impossible. It was an OK place to stay for our purposes. We camped at St. Johnsville Campsite Marina in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Very nice city park. Most sites are full time residents. Entrance to park is tight but paved. All the waterfront sites were occupied, but friendly neighbors had us over for the nightly boat watching on the Erie canal and sharing the days events. Nice people. There is a small marina. The harbormaster can fill you in on the area. I was told this park rarely fills up but call just in case. If you are a light sleeper you may want to pass as there are trains running late in the night. We will stay here again if in the area. We camped at St. Johnsville Campsite Marina in a Fifth Wheel.
