When making reservations be aware that regardless of the site you reserve, you may well find that you have been moved to a different site at some point between the time you reserve, and the time you arrive. This has happened to us twice now. The most recent reservation (which we made a year in advance to get the site we wanted) was changed this month (two months after our reservation was made) for another campers reservation of longer duration. For $62 a night you would think it would not matter how long you plan to stay. We are planning to look at other campgrounds in the meantime with a policy more like what other places that we have stayed at offer. Overall, we do otherwise like this campground. We camped at Camp Chautauqua in a Travel Trailer.

We camped at Camp Chautauqua while waiting to enter a private campground. We were pleasantly surprised . They were friendly and accommodating. We felt like we had been there our entire life. Excellent Camp Store. Great activities. Located on the lake. Suz and I have crossed the Country five times, have camped from Key West to Maine. Camp Chautauqua ranks with the best. You can bet that we'll be back. We camped at Camp Chautauqua in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Best, and only, campground on Lake Chautauqua, but no actually sites other than one token site on the lake shore itself. Great amenities and a lot for children to do, plus planned activities. Staff tries hard to meet needs, but seems overwhelmed. Lower rating because they call it "family camping". Kids must be watched, lots of drinking and racing golf carts. DO NOT STAY in sites 68-78 for this reason. Permanent residents have a bar onsite and a lot of late night partying, smell of weed, and noise. Site was also wet and mushy. We camped at Camp Chautauqua in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Pay the extra money for the nicer camp sites. Check out the weekly/daily activities at the camp store or you might miss out on some fun stuff- they don't always tell you about them when you check in.

I would not stay here again. Very tight getting to our sight for the night which was close to entry gate. Low hanging branches leading to sight pad. For this reason I asked if I could go into the area on the exit side, which they did allow. Don't even think about driving your coach down towards the office area which is close to waterfront, low branches and tight turns will get you. I asked office to allow me to exit park back thru the entry gate when it was time to leave and they had all kinds of excuses why I had to wait for the owner to arrive to do this. After waiting for 2 hours for someone to show up and help us, we took matters into our on hands and left. Do not expect any help at this park. I would not go back to this park. Park is also an eye sore with full time tenants there with apparently no rules to follow for site cleanliness. We camped at Camp Chautauqua in a Motorhome.

A very busy, crowded park. Lots to do: fishing, boating, planned activities. Very family oriented with lots of kids and golf carts. Real camping. If one took advantage of all activities and facilities, it is not a bad price to pay. We camped at Camp Chautauqua in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Very large campground with all sorts of accommodations. We were in our 45ft motorhome in a large, spacious concrete pad. Voltage was sometimes low when usage was very high - like a crowded hot weekend when air conditioning usage was high.

There is a marina as part of the campground with excellent facilities. There are always lots of activities for adults and for kids. Large pool. A store carries supplies and some groceries. The owners are very friendly and cooperative. The campground is easily accessible and near Chautauqua Institution. We camped at Camp Chautauqua in a Motorhome.

We were surprised by the 6PM checkin time with a $2/hour penalty for early arrivals. We had signed up for a 50 A site but received 30A. Check in is at the gated entry where you pay the balance for your stay beyond the deposit. The young woman at the gate was cordial. She was the only employee we ever met. There was a tight U-turn required to get to our camp area immediately after the entry gate. Trees and bushes overhung the entrance and exit drives making contact with the coach. The 30A plug receptacle arced and damaged my pigtail. There was noone available to talk to about that as we left. We camped at Camp Chautauqua in a Motorhome.

We stayed here in a RV four weeks. The place is kept spotless. Daily onsite trash pickup. Extremely friendly management always on site. Spacious sites. Nice store. Easy access. I will return to this campground and highly recommend it to others. We camped at Camp Chautauqua in a Motorhome.

This park is mostly seasonals. Park policy checkin time was not given with phone reservation. Arrived at 1:48 pm, charged $2 per hour through 6:00 pm check-in time and also charged $2 for 12 minutes (prior to 2 pm. as check-in paperwork took that long!) Should have been told with phone reservation about check-in time and the costs over and above nightly rate. Park staff is mostly young and just following rules. Park staff mowed lawn while we on the site, throwing debri on RV and car. Again, young staff just doing a job. Would not stay at this park again. We camped at Camp Chautauqua in a Motorhome.

Chose campground for great Woodall rating. Had a full hook-up site in Choctaw area. Fairly level considering campground is very hilly. Bathhouses were big disappointment. Not updated and clean like advertised. Very dirty sinks, toilets & floors with caked on black dirt/mold around edges and corners. At 5 p.m. & again at 8 a.m. the next morning, there was still toilet paper laying on the floor in several stalls. Showers are tiny and hard to maneuver. Actually smaller than the one in my little 24' motorhome, which is why I always use the campground facilities. I would not camp here again. We camped at Camp Chautauqua in a Motorhome.

This is a summer resort located on Lake Chautauqua. We stayed here for one night as a stopover. We might have been the only ones here. There are limited sites for "drop-ins" but we were able to park our 55'+ motorhome/toad combo. Access roads are fairly narrow, and I suspect someone towing a long trailer might have difficulties. Wireless and cable TV worked great. Restrooms and showers were OK, but must be busy in the summer. BTW: Woodall's says go "southeast" on 394 off I-68, but you actually go northwest toward Stow, NY. We camped at Camp Chautauqua in a Motorhome.

We stayed here in the off season. I was glad; it looked like there would have been a lot of people with all the permanent housing. The lake was beautiful from the site. The site was paved and very nice. The bathrooms weren't clean, and the laundry room, I cleaned up. Because of the lake we would stop here again. The wi-fi was very good, too, and it was free, and so was the cable. We camped at Camp Chautauqua in a Fifth Wheel.

We were not at all impressed with the management of the facility. They have that "I'll do it when and if I feel like it" attitude. Office hours are posted but don't count on it being anywhere near accurate! The propane price was outrageously over-priced! You have to wind your way down very narrow steep roadways to where the office is located near the lake. We had a pull thru in front of the office but many folks had to re-wind their way back up on the hill to various sites. You enter off the road thru a very elaborate security center which could easily assign camp spaces without all the other nonsense. Not much there if you don't bring your boat to fish or ski. The store might/might not be open, not close to any amenities, overall-overpriced! Wouldn't recommend or stay there again! We camped at Camp Chautauqua in a Motorhome.

Because I could not find a review of this park I thought I would say something. We camped here because we were attending the Chautauqua Institute. It is located only 5 or 6 minutes from the Institute. This is a very nice campground with lots to do if your staying on the property and just taking it easy. There are some trailers here that look like folks live in the all year long. There are boat rentals and a well stocked store. The campground runs activities on weekends. Perhaps 10 minutes from Jamestown (home of Lucille Ball). We camped at Camp Chautauqua in a Motorhome.

As noted it is older and really caters to the seasonal set. Our site was quite unlevel but it worked as a one nighter. The site even though a pull through require us to unhook. The trees probably won't get you but the narrow entrance and exit are doable but not a favorite of mine. The sites over looking the lake are nicer. It has a 5:00 PM check out and 6:00 PM check in. It was quiet by me but a few spots down we had the 20-something party crew. Would not avoid but would not drive out of my way to get here. It is showing its age We camped at Camp Chautauqua in a Motorhome.
