This is a perfect location. You can walk to town and Walmart, Seneca Lake is right across the street, The State park is close, and the gorge is absolutely beautiful. The Corning Museum isn't too far, and you can visit wineries to you hearts content. The park itself is plain Jane, but functional, and the staff is very helpful and pleasant. We camped at Clute Park Campground (W W Clute Memorial Park) in a Motorhome.

Clute Park Memorial Park campground is all about location. The campground is just across the street from the lakeshore. We walked downtown to restaurants and shopping. We also walked to and from Watkins Glen State Park. The campground itself is fine, nothing special or nothing unacceptable. Sites are fairly close together with little to no shade. We camped at Clute Park Campground (W W Clute Memorial Park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Memorial Park is very conveniently located in the tourist town of Watkins Glen, NY. We were able to walk or ride our bikes to many local attractions (including a WalMart with grocery next door), and could easily reach some world-class tourist spots by car. We stayed two weeks and could have entertained ourselves for another week. This park is located on a canal and across the road from Seneca Lake, so boating/fishing are popular passtimes for guests. Our assigned back-in site proved a bit unlevel, so we had to use additional blocks. Staff are friendly, and this park does recycle. Cable TV service is excellent, however we opted to use our own Verison Internet service. We camped at Clute Park Campground (W W Clute Memorial Park) in a Motorhome.

Area attractions not to be missed include: Watkins Glen State Park (within walking distance); the Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, NY; Cornell University (including Sapsucker Woods with a great birding center, & a university arboretum nearby) in Ithica; the Women's Rights National Historical Park in Seneca Falls; and numerous waterfalls and wineries.

The camping area is fine, a basically open area with some trees. Site spacing is decent. Sites are level and easy to get into. Wifi when we were there was outstanding, with speeds from 5-20 Mbs, the highest we've ever experienced at a campground. . Staff was very friendly and helpful. The park location worked well for our explorations of the southern Finger Lakes region and we'd return if we came here again. We camped at Clute Park Campground (W W Clute Memorial Park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Price reflects a two week stay. Asphalt/gravel interior roads. Grass/gravel sites. Have straight back-ins and straight pull-throughs. Has two speed bumps. Quiet park. Unfortunately allows campfires and unable to have windows open much due to them. Over 100 channels of cable TV with a guide channel. Internet was great when it worked, but was slow and limited a lot. Easy in and out with a 60 foot combo. We camped at Clute Park Campground (W W Clute Memorial Park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Best place to get fuel is Dandy's Mini Mart in Burdett, NY. Three miles northeast of the campground on Hwy 79. Lots more room and safer for vehicles pulling trailers and for motorhomes then any of the stations in Watkins Glen. Wal-Mart within walking distance. Food vendors at the park across the street on different days, plus a farmers market on Wednesday afternoon. Lots of state parks in the area for hiking. Liked Watkins Glen State Park the best.

The campground itself is small and has few amenities but across the street is the park, wonderful for families with many options. A short jaunt on the crosswalk brings you to W.W. Clute Park which has a small beach with lifeguard stand, tons of playground equipment, a large pavilion perfect for a family reunion or club meetings, horseshoe pits, tons of shade, grills, picnic tables and benches with an outstanding view of Seneca Lake. The campground is also conveniently located adjacent to the Glen Harbor Marina and boat launch. Lots of fast food and full service restaurants, Walmart, and other shops are within a mile or two drive. The campground only has two showers but they are clean and equipped for wheelchair access. There are no laundry facilities but there is a laundromat nearby in town. The sites are gravel and fairly level. The WIFI is better than most and the cable brings in many stations. My AT&T service gets full bars here. Hurray! We camped at Clute Park Campground (W W Clute Memorial Park) in a Travel Trailer.

The Watkins Glen State Park is about 1-2 miles from the campground right in town. If you are a racing enthusiast don't miss out on visiting the Gran Prix track (NASCAR), Watkins Glen International.

If location is your first priority, this is the place to stay. Friendly staff, reasonable prices, next to a beautiful park on the lake, walk to Walmart, quiet, clean, dry wood for campfires so no smoke, pet friendly, level sites. No real negatives. They do have lots of seasonal people and the spaces are a little snug if you have several big rigs in a row but we loved the location and the peaceful quiet at night so we will return. We camped at Clute Park Campground (W W Clute Memorial Park) in a Motorhome.

As others have mentioned, location is the main draw for this RV Park. It is an easy walk to Walmart or into town, and across the street is a small park right on the lake. We walked our dog there daily and he loved to get wet at the little beach. The RV park itself we found to be rather cramped and unattractive. It's basically rows of RVs on a grassy field with not much spacing between them (though we have definitely seen smaller sites elsewhere). They have lines spray painted on the grass and you need to park within those lines. Unfortunately for us, staying within the lines meant the front/side of our motorhome was smushed into the tree on our site. We had someone trim a few branches so we could open our door, but we couldn't open our awning at all. Our fire ring was all the way at the front of the site, right next to the road, which was strange. Most of the sites are occupied by semi-permanent trailers and fifth wheels (and a few mobile homes) that appear to get intermittent use (e.g. weekend visits). The WiFi worked decently during the day, and we had strong Verizon and AT&T for evenings and weekends. Given the high price ($55 daily or $47 weekly) we found that the "near town" location didn't make up for the averageness of the campsites/campground. If you really want to be walking distance from town and don't mind somewhat cramped sites, this may be a good option. We camped at Clute Park Campground (W W Clute Memorial Park) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The pizza place a few blocks away (Jerlando's) was excellent (be sure to get some garlic knots too), and the Chinese take-out (Lucky Star) in town was also good.

Location, location, location says it all. Downtown Watkins Glen you can walk to most everything. Site was solid, flat, roomy and quiet at night. Tv, WIFI and Cell service. A beautiful park across the street adjacent to the deepest Finger Lake (Seneca) you can walk to your hearts delight. I would/will stay here. Sites are tight with little to no shade. Bathrooms are clean and well maintained but old. Mostly seasonal rentals but they were all friendly. Close to the gorge, the track, the wine trail and downtown. We would come back if in the area. We camped at Clute Park Campground (W W Clute Memorial Park) in a Fifth Wheel.

This park is mostly fully of seasonal or long term campers. Many of the sites have permanent wooden decks but are well kept. A few have small refrigerators and plastic storage compartments outside. The seasonals also take up the best sites that have a view across the street of Seneca Lake. There is no pool here. You need to cross the street into a nice park that has playground equipment, picnicking and day use to go swimming in the lake. The roped off area is very rocky and mucky (no sandy beach here). The bathrooms are older but clean. WiFi was pretty useless and would not stay connected. However we had been warned at check-in that they were having problems with the WiFi. Cable TV was fuzzy. Fortunately there are only a few small shade trees so no problems with our satellite TV. Easy biking distance to town and Watkins Glen SP. Expensive for what you got, but not much choice in town since the State Park can't accommodate big rigs. We camped at Clute Park Campground (W W Clute Memorial Park) in a Motorhome.

This campground sits directly across the street from the south end of Seneca Lake in Watkins Glen. It is a convenient location for exploring wineries and other Finger Lakes attractions. The sites are not overly spacious, but adequate for our 3 slides and awning. The road through the middle of the campground leads to the town boat launch, so was busy, especially on the weekends. Lots of seasonal sites here, mainly in one section, all were well kept. This park is a good value and convenient to town. Walmart is just across the bridge, about a 5 minute walk. The town is about a 10 minute walk - boat tours, restaurants, ice cream, shops, etc. Our Sprint cell phones had strong signals, the Wi-Fi worked well. We would stay here again. We camped at Clute Park Campground (W W Clute Memorial Park) in a Motorhome.

Nice park right on the end of Seneca Lake. Good size park with a lot of very neat seasonals. We definitely would like to be seasonal here too. Since we were traveling, we only stayed 3 days. We will be back. We camped at Clute Park Campground (W W Clute Memorial Park) in a Travel Trailer.

The park is reasonably well maintained. Staff is friendly and helpful. Hookups, Wi-Fi and CATV all work well. Water pressure is high so bring a reducer. Strong Verizon signal and easy satellite setup. Sites are a little smaller than I would like. Marina is adjacent. There are many long term residents though they seem to keep their standards up. A few rigs are older, but none are derelicts and there was no rowdy behavior. Town is an easy walk away. Bottom line is, if you are coming mainly for the camping experience then this is probably a bad choice. If you want a decent, full hookup home base to explore Watkins Glen and the tourist attractions around it Clute should do nicely. My rate is based on a monthly stay. They also have weekly and daily rates. If I'm in the area again I will stay here. We camped at Clute Park Campground (W W Clute Memorial Park) in a Fifth Wheel.

If you are looking for a "State Park" feel, this is not the place for you. The RV area is a bit of a field, with a few young trees planted here and there. However, the non-camping part of the park makes up for this in spades! It is right on Lake Seneca, with a large clean waterfront, and great picnic areas. The park is fairly quiet, but centrally located. It is a 2 minute walk to WalMart, a 10 minute walk to town, and a 15 minute walk to Watkins Glen, which you MUST SEE! We stayed 3 nights and never needed a car. We were in site A9, at the back. All was good, except cable was fuzzy and Wi-Fi a little spotty. Definitely going back. We camped at Clute Park Campground (W W Clute Memorial Park) in a Motorhome.
