This is our second visit to this park in the past two years, and we will undoubtedly return in a couple of years. This particular NY state park has one of the nicest beaches of any NY park, so there are lots of water activities including an excellent snack bar, boating, swimming, and fishing, etc. Watch out for all the children on bicycles (speed limit in the campground is 5 mph). There is only one loop which offers any hookups, and that is electricity so these sites go fast. There are also a dozen or so smaller sites located within 30 yards of the Ontario shoreline (but without electricity). About one third of all sites are nicely shaded and most are quite large for easy maneuvering -- but sometimes overrun with tents, canopies, boats, and bicycles. The park does have several limitations including poor cellular service, no wi-if, and no nearby supermarket for groceries. Park security pays little attention to loud radios blaring. Our motorhome should have been sound proofed. We camped at Southwick Beach State Park in a Motorhome.Undo

There are three loops at this state park to accommodate all camping styles. Many RV's on the lake loop, while tents and pull type in the other two loops, one electric and the other not. Lakefront sites do not have electric so you need a generator or limited stay. Best to check the water before filling up your tank. Issues in past with filtration but appear resolved now. Never hurts to check first. Sites on beach loop can be sand blasted if real windy, so be aware of that. Reminds us of Daytona Beach as it is very wide and long. Not many places to hike but the beach. Park well kept but showers and bathrooms for the beach sites are aging. New baths for the inner sites. We camped on beach loop. We camped at Southwick Beach State Park in a Motorhome.Undo

Nice NYS Park, recently upgraded roads and shower/restroom buildings. The big draw is the wonderful sand beach. There are several on-beach sites, these don't have electric hookups but generator hours are pretty liberal. Some recreation activities for kids, nice playground, lifeguards and a nice camp concession building. The store is limited, but Oswego, with anything you could possibly need, is 25 minutes away. Lots of things to see and do within an hour if you tire of relaxing in camp, like Alex Bay, Clayton, Sacketts Harbor, etc., so this is a nice "base camp" for exploring the region. Electric sites are limited, but big-rig friendly for most of them. Nice friendly staff. NYS has done a good job on keeping up most of the campgrounds in it's system. All in all, an excellent value, for a clean, family friendly park. We camped at Southwick Beach State Park in a Travel Trailer.Undo

Very clean state park. The toilet and showers are brand new and clean. If you want shade do not take a site in loop C (as we did) because it's in full sunlight. Wonderful beach and kids playground. We camped at Southwick Beach State Park in a Tent Trailer.Undo
