Rate of 30.00 per night, site 69, plus daily entrance fee of 8.50, electric only. Previous reviews for this park are accurate. The entrance to the park from the highway is just over a mile, dirt and very rough. Typical styled state/provincial Park, lots of trees and brush throughout camping area with each site set in its own little alcove of trees. Some sites have both water and electric. No sewer except at sewer dump station, clean and easily accessible. There is a water station with a notice to boil water before drinking. Bathrooms/shower were clean and old. Showers have a single timed push button tap, no temperature control, did not use. Free WIFI by community center only, none at site. None of our cell services worked, Verizon, Sprint or T Mobile. Had to drive back to the highway to get a weak signal. Our site did allow for satellite access, most sites will be blocked by trees. All sites had a fire ring and picnic table. The beach, located at the rear of the park, is a real sand beach and great place for sun worship or picnic. People were swimming (water was cold) in spite of warning signs of rip tides. Short drive to the town of Port aux Basques NL and ferry terminal. We would stay here again. We camped at J. T. Cheeseman Provincial Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We visited Rose Blanche Lighthouse, a slow scenic 35 min drive along a hilly and curvy highway from the campground. Lighthouse is located about an 8 minute walk up the cliffs from the parking area, very scenic area. There is also a reconstructed fisherman's house/museum at the site.

Our stay at J.T. Cheeseman was good. The site was large enough to fit our 43' motorhome and there was sufficient space next to it to park our towed vehicle. We enjoyed going down to the beach to watch the sunset. The roads were very potholed (coming into the park as well as the road to the beach). Sites were dirt and grass with a picnic table. We camped at J. T. Cheeseman Provincial Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We enjoyed driving all the way out to Rose Blanche: beautiful little towns along the way. The walk to Barachois Falls that was an easy hike on boardwalk or gravel the whole way.

Surprised that this CG has not had a more recent review. Yet another great NL Provincial Park. Point lost for the gravel access road otherwise everything was just perfect. WIFI available near one of the buildings. 50amp service in the power loop.

A great place to stop if getting off the evening ferry or overnighting before catching the morning ferry. We camped at J. T. Cheeseman Provincial Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Take time for a walk around. There is a pretty waterfall accessed by a short trail next to site 14.

Lovely park located about 10 minutes from ferry to Nova Scotia. It's basic with treed sites. Road into park is several kms, but worth it. Good bike ride to ocean beach and fishing. I like this park and will stay again. We camped at J. T. Cheeseman Provincial Park in a Motorhome.

I loved this Provincial Park. There's an amazing dune filled beach with piping plovers, a large scrambling creek, and a lake. It was a birders paradise. Our site was level with gravel and grass. There was electric, but no water hookups. This was the land of upscale small travel trailers. The park was extremely well managed (sites were tidy). I've never seen a head ranger making sure that restrooms were clean. They weren't just clean, but spotless. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Unfortunately, the the nature interpreter was eliminated this year due to budget cuts so we missed learning more about the ecology of the area. We camped at J. T. Cheeseman Provincial Park in a Travel Trailer.

Liked this park a lot and the location is unbeatable for the ferry, about ten or 15 minutes away. Rate is with a senior discount but bumped back up by the $10 reservation fee. Very nice modern restrooms and showers. Park has waterfront recreation beach areas and is worth a couple of days' stay. We could not get any TV channels on our antenna or a cell phone signal but did get Wi-Fi at a picnic table near the office. Note do not take the Cape Ray exit off the Trans Canada, look for the park sign. However the town is worth a visit to drive out to the lighthouse. This was one of the best parks of the 14 we visited during three weeks on the island and would definitely stay here again. We camped at J. T. Cheeseman Provincial Park in a Motorhome.

Includes $5 for Provincial Park fee and electric only. Arrived just before midnight from the ferry; the office was open, we were guided to the site; modern and clean bathhouse; friendly staff; be aware that when you turn off TCH 1 the road is paved but quickly turns to gravel for the remaining 1 ½ miles. Large, level gravel sites. We camped at J. T. Cheeseman Provincial Park in a Travel Trailer.
