2 RV Parks near Lark Harbour, Newfoundland
Jun 2013 - $22.00
The road from Corner Brook is pretty twisty and windy, but in good shape. The loop closest to the comfort station was occupied by larger 5th wheels and travel trailers (lots of generator noise). We, unfortunately, booked online into the second loop which required some very creative leveling and maneuvering. There is water available, a dump station, and a comfort station but no campsite services (which means electric, water and septic in Canada.) The bugs were minimal because of the wind; I guess that's why its called Blow Me Down. The sites are in a heavily forested area with sneak peaks through the canopy at the small mountains. The savier travelers with moderate motorhomes skipped the campground and pulled into the overflow at the beach. Now for the good part, this park defines scenic. The rock beach has breathtaking views of the rugged landscape. We walked to a cave on the beach and found a hidden staircase. 416 steps (counted by a begrudging teenager) and a few board walks later we reached the top of a small mountain with stunning views of coves and the sea. I highly recommend the local lighthouse/water fall trail as well. This looks like an ideal place for kayaking. - barkingbear
Aug 2017 - $33.00
Rate of $33.00 total per night, no discounts, site 4. This park has the feel of a state/providential park. Dirt roads, lots of trees with each campsite being in its own little alcove. Roads are hard packed gravel single lane one-way and adequate in size to access site. Pads are crushed gravel with a little grass/dirt for patio area. Sites are wide and long enough for comfortable outdoor use. Utilities, full hook ups, are all on left side and within easy reach. There is a "Boil Order" in place for the water before drinking. Campground offers free WIFI (did not use) at site and has bathrooms and showers, did not use although the building from the outside looked well maintained, clean and modern. Each site had a picnic table, fire ring and trash can. Our site did allow for satellite access, some sites will be blocked by trees. Verizon and T Mobile worked well, no Sprint service. Staff was friendly. We spent 2 nights here and would return if in area. - ECM1
Aug 2015 - $30.00
Reserved full service and got it. WIFI does not work. There is a semi-permanent sign saying it is temporarily out of order. Young staff don't seem to be able to anything about it. Had a level spot with small trees on both sides of us. If using Garmin GPS, it points to across the street from actual location. Keep your eyes open for sign on left side. - tge5200
Jul 2015 - $27.00
With three strikes against, this park is out for us. Poor signage at the road caused a missed approach and a couple mile backtrack. The water on our serviced site required boiling. The advertised WiFi did not work. And the young people staffing the office seemed not to understand our concerns and were powerless to do anything about the issues.
A gravel road to a large grass field with sites backing to a row of trees was easy to navigate. Our site, simply a part of the grassy field, was fairly smooth, level, plenty long, but rather narrow. We connected to the convenient 30 amp hookup, but chose not to put the contaminated water into our rig. There was no sewer on our site, so we used the convenient dump station. The WiFi never worked. The bathrooms and showers were adequate. We did not use the available laundry facilities.
The price was fairly low at this park, but it still didn't feel like a very good value given the obvious shortcomings. We hope that this is a short-term situation and that others have a better experience here in the future. - DaveInOhio
