This is a salmon fishing camp - literally! It is a mile from the entrance to Gros Morne Park! Located right on a Salmon River, with a great walking trail from the campground, it's filled with very friendly seasonal fisherman, families and nice owners. Power is supplied by their own generator, 15 amp service, so power management skills are a must - but the locals will help you out with the fuse box. Sites are either in a gravel parking lot or a wooded loop both of which are filled with seasonals. They also have cabins. Sites are VERY close together and we were fortunate to have really wonderful neighbors that we truly enjoyed getting to know. There is a very friendly local bar at the front of the property which has entertainment on the second Saturday of the month. Wasn't there for the Saturday night event but enjoyed having a cold one with the locals on some very hot afternoons. Salmon River was impressive! We camped at Lomond River Lodge in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Stop in the bar in the late afternoon and get to know some of the local campers - it's a small world! Restaurants: Take a drive to Trout River and enjoy Seaside Restaurant. Very picturesque town with an excellent restaurant.

We had an EXCELENT stay! We stayed for a full week, week days were peaceful and quite nice for family's hiking and salmon fishing the campground is located right on the beautiful lomond river and there is a number of walking trails to different parts of the river which was absolutely beautiful. This camp site is also located right in Gros Morne national park and is close to the tablelands, Gros Morne mountain and tons of great excursions around the national park. So much to do around you could spend a month there and still not complete everything. The cabins were quite tidy two rooms a double bed in each in the main room of the cabin there is a recliner love seat fireplace and a small television with satiate tv they also have internet which was a little spotty at the cabin but worked great in the lodge, snack bar and office. They also have tent sites, even sites and motel units available. During the weekend the campsite tends to fill up as the have entertainment in the lodge until late in the night but all the people there were quite friendly and the owner was always around when needed as well as her grown son and if not the workers at the snack bar would be happy to call up to then or help you out if you needed anything. We had a great stay and would recommend it for a future reference! Would definitely stay again We camped at Lomond River Lodge in a Cabin.

This one is off-grid, literally. They have their own onsite generator. Most sites for the transient visitor are only 15 amp, a household plug, no ability to reset the breaker yourself if you overload it, which does not take much. To make do with so little power one needs to be knowledgeable on power management.

Wi-Fi offered is unreliable to nonexistent. There is no cell service in the area.

One area is open lot car park style camping. Another wooded loop needs a good dose of the pruner to cut back roof destroying branches.

For the rate one would expect much better.

What it does have is location being less than a mile from the entrance to Gros Morne NP. We camped at Lomond River Lodge in a Fifth Wheel.

Just a few miles off Viking Trail 430 and before the road turns, twists, and hills on the way to Trout River and Woody Point; active crowd with music in the lodge bar on weekends; several sites are for weekend campers; snack bar on location is very handy; clean washrooms and laundry; salmon fishing; most sites almost level, sites near road not level. Would camp here again. We camped at Lomond River Lodge in a Travel Trailer.
