This is a great place to park your camper/RV! It's a perfect location but, more than that, it's a very clean campground with such friendly owners. Unlike previous reviews, we did not have any issues with power. We usually run 50 amp but they only have 30 and it was fine. I asked the owner and she said that the older area has some power issues sometimes. The dump station was easy in and out in our 35 foot 5th wheel. We did not have any problems maneuvering to get to it. Because we were there for several days, we tried to conserve our water use. We did use the washrooms and they are so clean and decorated nicely! The laundry and washrooms are new. The owner makes pies, bread, cinnamon rolls, etc. Yummy! The owner's brother took us out on his boat to see icebergs! What a treat to have a local person educate us about ice bergs! We camped at Viking RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Close to so much! This is a beautiful area! The Sea Ice and Ice Bergs were amazing! The best view is from Sail Cove, Whale Point. Go to the end of the road and walk up past the cemetery and you can see forever! You can see Labrador and Quirpon Island and whales. It really is beautiful! There are lots of moose and caribou around so be very careful driving.

Be prepared for significant power management at this park. We switched our refrigerator and hot water heater to propane, almost never used the microwave, and simply making coffee took the voltage below 105 with no other significant load. Accidentally had the small 700W space heater on when making coffee and the voltage dropped below 100V. We were told the water was not under a BWA (boil water advisory). The dump requires some maneuvering. The park worked for what we needed - a site close to L'Anse Aux Meadows. We did not have Verizon signal at this park. We camped at Viking RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Must see L'Anse Aux Meadows, and Norstead. We also went to St Anthony to tour the Grenfell Historical properties. Once you turn off 430 to 436, the road is fairly good, but then you will see a pot hole warning sign... SLOW DOWN... many road heaves that will toss your RV severely - your front wheels could come off the ground at the worst one near the RV park. Visit the Dark Tickle location (on 436) where they make the local berry products and do eat upstairs - a pleasant eatery !

Overall Rating:

The Viking RV Park is conveniently located just a few miles from L'Anse aux Meadows, the landing sight of the Norsmen (Vikings) in the year 1000. They have recently completed an expansion of the campsite which now offers 38 sights. Additional expansion plans call for 12 more sights. We parked our 43 ft MH in a pull-trough sight that was just long enough for our coach and toad.

We had some issues with the electrical service dropping to a low-voltage state a number of times our first evening. As our coach is protected by an electrical management system our electronics were protected so unplugged and ran off our batteries and inverter. During the day, we disconnected the electrical to sensitive items and plugged back in to recharge our batteries. Since the weather was cool we did not require our AC, which would have been problematic if we wanted to use it.

On a very positive note, Viking had the best and fastest Wi-Fi I have had at an RV park. Watching YouTube, streaming movies and/or using FaceTime were all easy and reliable.

We stayed here the last day of Aug and 3 days of Sep so we were able to use our Passport America membership for 50% off on three of the four nights. $70 for 4 nights. We camped at Viking RV Park in a Motorhome.

This RV Park is indeed a little gem. 10-15 minute drive from l'Anse aux Meadows, a UNESCO and most picturesque site of Newfoundland. Impeccably clean. While water boil order in effect, this is not unusual in that part of the province. Hosts are delightful. Recommend the home cooked breakfast and delicious homemade pies and jam assortments available at the office. We camped at Viking RV Park in a Motorhome.

This is a little gem that you seldom find. The proprietor makes fresh pies and bread for sale that are out of this world. They are doing a massive up grade to their park with new sites 30amp service and super friendly. There is plenty to do in the area so you better set aside 3 or 4 days at least. We camped at Viking RV Park in a Motorhome.

Stayed for 3 nights in old section site 3 (back-in) in 40 ft motor home. Site just fit lengthwise with room for towed alongside the rig. Power post was high enough to hit slide, so be warned. Water boil order in effect. Fortunately we had filled our fresh water at our last stop. 30 amp service constantly dropped below 105 volts with 15 amp load causing surge protector to shutdown. Other than that it is convenient to L'Anse aux Meadows and St. Anthony's. Rt 436 was better than expected based on some reports with only a few Km of heavily patched roadway and a single gravel break that you need to slow to a crawl. We camped at Viking RV Park in a Motorhome.

Stayed 3 days. Nice staff small gift shop and breakfast counter. Open, level rv sites, wooded tent sites with a lake on the property. They are adding more sites but that doesn't interfere with existing ones. This park is close to L'anse aux Meadows and St. Anthony but being off the main road is nice and quiet. We camped at Viking RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Total rate was $70 for a combo Passport America and rack rate over 4 nights. Good value for what seems to be a typical NL campground. Wi-Fi worked very well. No site separation but enough room.

One point lost for power instability. At times it was down to 107 VAC on one leg and 109 VAC on the other. This with little load on an almost empty campground.

Also of note, the campground is in the middle of what will be at least a doubling of site capacity during 2016. Ongoing additions are having little effect on existing campground area. We camped at Viking RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a pleasant little RV park, just a few minutes from L'Anse aux Meadows, that exceeded our expectations.  It's not a really scenic park, but the sites are adequate.  The colorful little picnic tables add a nice touch.  There's a lot of gravel, some grass, and we were able to get level without much effort.  We were in a back-in with a 32' 5th wheel and had plenty of room to park the truck on the side and still have plenty yard to sit in.  The 30 amp service was good and there was adequate water pressure.  The WiFi is the best we've had in NL.  There are shortcomings for units that are not self-contained.  There are only 2 showers and 2 toilets to service the whole site, including the tent sites.  They are small, nothing fancy, but clean.  The tent sites are more private, set among the trees along the path that goes to the water.

By next summer they should have the new section open, and hopefully more washroom facilities are being planned.  This is definitely where we would stay if we came back to the area. We camped at Viking RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

It was a little off-putting to arrive and find the office locked and no one on property. So I just pulled into an open spot and sent an email which was answered VERY quickly and apologetically. (Note: it would be good to put a note on door stating when will return & what to do. And, as only 3-4 campers scheduled to checkin, a list of name & site would have easily solved the problem. The next issue was actually checking in...I have NEVER encountered an establishment that took Visa, but NOT MasterCard! The two cards are practically interchangeable. Fortunately, I had enough cash to cover the fees.

After those 2 negatives, the rest was smooth sailing. The sites are level and the w/e is fine. The WiFi is GREAT! The laundry room is clean, albeit small.

The park is conveniently located less than 10 min from L'anse aux Meadows and the same distance/time to The Daily Catch and The Norseman restaurants. St. Anthony is about a 20 min drive. We camped at Viking RV Park in a Motorhome.

Attracted by the PPA rate -small, open park. Washrooms were small, separate, unheated at far corner - quite basic. Water is straight from a pond - not suitable for drinking, etc. Hesitant to shower with it, since pond was right next to the road. Nice people - saw a moose on a morning walk with the pup. Dump station on site. Owners doing a nice job sprucing up the park - fresh paint, etc. good WiFi but NO cell coverage. Payphone in the laundry room though. We camped at Viking RV Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed here 3 nights in a motorhome and we also had a tent site. Only negative was we had to boil water before drinking. Park is quiet and a good location to visit L'anse aux Meadows site. Office was very friendly and helpful. Wi-Fi worked good. Had a wonderful breakfast in the office. We would stay here again. We camped at Viking RV Park in a Motorhome.

Close to Lanse aux Meadows. Owners are nice. We camped here but didn't bother with electric. There is a boil water order, but this is the way it is all the way up the coast. The washrooms are older, but are clean (not heated). It is a basic place to stay while visiting the area. Wi-Fi worked great and the prices are right. We would stay again. This is a minimal park, but is really the only game nearby. The owner was very nice. There is a 'water' problem, but we decided to rely on our filters and had not problems. The sites were level and the WiFi good. The dump station is well positioned and easy to use. We would stay here again. We camped at Viking RV Park in a Truck Camper.
