We have a 43' motorhome (bus). When we arrived, the staff person suggested that we go up to the campsite before bringing the bus to ensure that we could fit into it. Although we specified to the reservation system that we were "over 35 feet", the site (15) would have barely fit our motorhome. We were offered the option to park in the day-use area, which was right on the lake, large, quiet, relatively flat, and hardly used. Since the sites are non-serviced, we weren't losing out on any services: so we decided to use the day-use area.

We didn't navigate the roads with our motorhome, so cannot comment on how easy they are to navigate; our impression was that we could have fit, but it would have been tight in places.

The rangers on staff were very helpful. We had a bolt break on our towbar and they worked with us to find a substitute that would get us down the road far enough to get a replacement. We camped at Pistolet Bay Provincial Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We really enjoyed the ecological preserve past Raleigh. We got to see icebergs (even though it was August and we had heard it was unlikely).

We also enjoyed the overlook from the cemetery above Ship Cove. Drive all the way to the end of the road and you may see a sign indicating a scenic overlook up the hill.

Of course, visit L'Anse aux Meadows and St Anthony also. We enjoyed learning about Dr Granfell and all that he did in this area.

Very nice park, facilities are very clean and laundry available. Good place to stay when visiting the 'arm'. The children's play area is down at the day use area, as is a beach.... if you are brave enough to swim during a northern Newfoundland summer! lol WiFi is available down near the entry. We camped at Pistolet Bay Provincial Park in a Motorhome.

I have never been greeted by name as I stepped out of my car to register; talk about friendly and organized!!! The campground is split between a meadow and a forest with a lake/beach nearby. The site was level, comfort station extremely clean, park was very well maintained. There is a dump station and water available. I'm not sure why the bugs weren't bad (perhaps too cold.) We saw moose, very large rabbits, and a rare woodpecker during our stay. Staff made great recommendations on local activities from the Viking National Park to the Burnt Cove Ecological Park. Unfortunately, the naturalist/interpreter was eliminated due to budget cuts so we didn't have a guide to the Burnt Cove which was too bad. We used their laundry machines which was handy. A quick tip: switching propane tanks in St. Anthony's was quite expensive. Do it in a bigger town! The ice burgs and whales were amazing, however. We camped at Pistolet Bay Provincial Park in a Motorhome.

This park has open and treed sites. Pit toilets are in place throughout the parks and a 'Comfort Station' with flush toilets and showers is available. This park is not really set up for larger rigs as the roads are very narrow making it difficult to park. Overflow in the park may be a better idea. Staff are friendly and very accommodating. This is a good central location to visit the northern tip of Newfoundland. We camped at Pistolet Bay Provincial Park in a Travel Trailer.
