Pippy Park is in a great location for visiting St John's and road trips to other locations nearby. The roadways were pretty narrow for our large (43') motorhome. Definitely should disconnect before going into the campground so you can make 3-point turns if necessary.

It was a bit confusing when we got here, where we should put the motorhome while we registered, we essentially blocked the way in while we were getting registered, but no one seemed to mind too much.

We were on loop 2 and our site was very private. We had 30A, water and sewer. There were 50A hookups in what had been the overflow area, now loop 4: a very open area and may have been easier to navigate with a large motorhome, but the road to it (gravel) had a lot of potholes. There was also supposed to be wifi available on loop 4 but we went over there to try to use it one evening and were not able to get much of a signal. Our Verizon service worked well from our campsite.

The map that we were given encouraged us not to dump full tanks at our site but rather to use the dump station. Something about the site sewer not being able to take a large amount being dumped. We dumped at the site but did it twice to minimize how much went in at any specific time. We asked a neighbor about it, and he had not even read the caution on the map. We camped at Pippy Park Campgrounds and Trailer Park in a Motorhome.

I pretty much agree with previous posts. Pippy is a municipal Park, and is very convenient to St. John's. The campground has really 2 feels to it, the back in sites, loops 1-3 have a state park type of feel, and 30 amp. The FHU pull through sites, in Loop 4 are sites for big rigs, and includes wifi, this is just a wide open space. The laundry was clean, the bathhouse adequate. Plenty of room to walk the pup, wonderful walking paths in the area. We will stay here again when in the area. We camped at Pippy Park Campgrounds and Trailer Park in a Travel Trailer.

St. Johns is a wonderful place to stay for a few days to catch up. All the shopping, including Costco, and the restaurants, try the Magic Wok Eatery, wonderful Asian. Many local attractions to visit while here.

We stayed at this park for two weeks in a 38 ft fifth wheel on a full service gravel pull site in loop 4. This is a full service loop with wifi but no cable. There are only two channels over the air. The park is in the centre of the city but has a country feeling until at night when the traffic noise is very evident in the loop we stayed in. The park is close to all amenities but for the price does not offer much. The sites have a picnic table but a fire pit can be rented and placed on your site for the night. The roads are easy to navigate and are mostly back in except loop 4. We camped at Pippy Park Campgrounds and Trailer Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a nice park in the middle of St. Johns, but you feel like you are in the country. The problem is the high cost, considering they offer nothing other than a place to park the RV - with FHU. I would in the future, stay outside St. Johns and commute in for the visit. There is a beautiful park in Holyrood just 30 minutes away on a nice lake. We camped at Pippy Park Campgrounds and Trailer Park in a Travel Trailer.

A fairly large park in the middle of the city gave convenient access. The gravel roads were easy to navigate, and the gravel pad set on a grassy site was plenty large for our 37' MH and toad. A nice plus was solid cover of trees on three sides that gave really nice privacy on the site. The water, 30 amp, and sewer hookups were convenient, though the sewer inlet was rather high off the ground. There was no WiFi at the sites, and even when we went to the gazebo as recommended the throughput was too slow to be useful. We did not use the bathrooms. The laundry was small and totally filled with mosquitos after someone left the door open all night, but the clothes did come out clean. :) We felt it was a good value for the amenties offered at this price. We camped at Pippy Park Campgrounds and Trailer Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed here in our Campervan for two nights. The location for access to St. John's is excellent - it's a 10 minute ride into the city. This is a large busy park right above the city. We didn't have a reservation, and yet didn't have to move the second night because the staff were looking out for us. We used the washers and dryers, which were fine, and thought the staff were helpful and friendly. A little pricey, but it's city prices and the park is in great demand. We camped at Pippy Park Campgrounds and Trailer Park in a Motorhome.

We have a small motorcycle attached to the campervan, and it's a wonderful vehicle to drive all around St. John's to get the feel of the city and find parking. St. John's is a very cool city with lots to do.

Nice park with nice sites in St. Johns. Pricey but you pay for the convenient location. With fuel at $1.25/litre, staying at one of the distant CG's which cost less is quickly eroded with the commute. Washrooms were heavily used, not well cleaned. Municipal park, staff appears to be high school/college kids on summer break. Supervision seemed minimal, but after dark the park was patrolled regularly by uniformed "rangers" in trucks, not the kids in the golf carts. Felt secure, despite signs telling you to lock valuables in your vehicle. 2 dump stations. Wi-Fi available near entrance station or "loop 4" only. Good cell service. Would likely use it again if in the area, just wish it cost less and washrooms were cleaner... We camped at Pippy Park Campgrounds and Trailer Park in a Motorhome.

I really don't quite understand all the BAD reviews this park has received. I just spent 5 nights (in loop 4) and LOVED it! Yes there is road noise from TCH 1...but it IS an in-town, urban campground...they can't swathe it in cotton. Yes, loop 4 is basically a large open field surrounded by trees, but I wanted WiFi (& it was great!) and I wanted a pull-thru. If WiFi had not been the highest priority, I could have had a very nicely nestled in trees site in one of the other 3 loops (btw, those sites looked very nice...lots of privacy).

Again, this is an in-town, urban campground. It is close to everything...walking and biking trails write outside your door; grocery stores (& other big box stores like Costco) within 10-15 min drive; St.John's Water St, George St or Duckworth a 10 min drive (or a $10-$15 cab ride in case you want to go clubbing); Signal Hill, Quidi Vidi Village, & GEO Center all within a 20 min drive; puffin & whale boat tours in Bay Bull about 30 min away; and TCH 1 to the rest of NL less than 5 min away.

This campground is all about location, location, location! The staff is very nice and helpful. I can't comment on the bathrooms or showers, but the laundry room was spotless (& this was over the Canada Day celebrations!) However, the campground was PACKED, and not once did I feel uncomfortable or unsafe.

All in all, a great urban campground. We camped at Pippy Park Campgrounds and Trailer Park in a Motorhome.

Filthy!! It is hard to believe that the city of St John's or any city runs this. The facilities are the filthiest that we have encountered in Newfoundland and the most expensive! It's disgusting and so appalling that we will be cutting our visit to this city short. Shame on you St John's for this blight against those who travel to visit you by RV or tent. Nice location in central St. John's. A little expensive but we did have a full hook-up and Wi-Fi, which worked very well. Park is clean and roads are OK. We traveled here in a 36' RV and would stay here again. We camped at Pippy Park Campgrounds and Trailer Park in a Motorhome.

Pippy Park Campground is right in the city of St. John’s. We stayed in the large open area where all the sites have 50 amps. In this area, the sites are rather basic; gravel parking with grass strip / yard between each site. There is ample room between sites and sites are very long. All hook ups are in the middle of the site and all are in good condition. As for facilities, we did not use the toilets or showers, but did check them out. While a little dated, everything was very clean and well maintained. Crews do regular garbage pick up at each site (each site has a household sized metal garbage can). Recycling needs to put in a separate bag beside the garbage can. As for amenities, there is a couple of playing ground and picnic areas, and lots of green space. Pippy Park caters to all types of campers, i.e., lots of different types of sites. The best two things about Pippy Park are its location and that its very dog friendly. As stated, the park is right in the city. You are close to everything. There is a city bus stop at the entrance to the park. There are lots of walking trails in the area and many loop around the local ponds (once you visit Newfoundland, you'll know what a pond is). Our dogs loved this park because of the trials. We extended our stay here too. We camped at Pippy Park Campgrounds and Trailer Park in a Motorhome.

This park is very convenient to St. John's without making you navigate difficult city streets. The campground is looking a little tired, but it served our purpose. We were in one of the loops without the Wi-Fi, but were were able to drive up to that loop and log on. Only one OTA TV station, ATT cell phone had reception. I'm not sure about the crime situation. There were lots of signs warning to take your valuables or leave them in the RV, but it didn't feel any more prone to crime than any other city park we've stayed in. The sites were pretty level and roads were navigable. Electric was good. We would stay here again. We camped at Pippy Park Campgrounds and Trailer Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Located in City of St. John's and close to all attractions. Easily accessible. Signage in park is poor and visitors easily pass the entrance and are forced to turn around in maintenance yard. Office Staff are young students and know little or nothing about camping or leveling a RV. Sites are spacious and cut out of the forest. Pleasant for camping but loops 1 & 2 are not suitable for motor homes. Loop 4 has WiFi and suitable for big rigs but we were quoted $56 daily with no discounts of any kind. Laundry is dirty, expensive, and several units were not operative. Park is owned by City which charges much more than it is worth. It's only real benefit is the location in one of worlds nicest cities. Signs make visitors aware of theft but more likely a lawyers attempt to relieve park of some liability. I'll return when prices reduce. We camped at Pippy Park Campgrounds and Trailer Park in a Motorhome.

In the city so very useful for visiting St. John's, but expensive and in rather shabby condition. Campground was having a crime wave reported on each night's news TV broadcast while we were here with about 20 thefts from RVs. Restrooms were very old and often dirty and full of bugs. Laundry room dirty with large trash can overflowing. Only one open field had Wi-Fi where big rigs were parked. Young staff, did not have a feeling there was anyone with good management skills in place. Would try to find another place in the future and commute in. This park has 4 loops. The first 3 are in trees with services and comfort stations. The 4th loop is more of an open parking lot with pull through sites all with 50A services. A cord is provided to allow conversion from 50A to 30A service. Loop 4 is the only one provided with Wi-Fi. I'm not sure of the coverage. We were close to the antenna and the signal was fine. This is a very convenient location to get to any of St. John's attractions as well as circle tours of the Avalon peninsula. The only negative comment I would have is the laundry seems very expensive compared to other equivalent facilities. We would stay again. We camped at Pippy Park Campgrounds and Trailer Park in a Travel Trailer.
