Rate of $46.82 per night for full hook-ups (30 amp) includes tax, no discounts offered. Park is located within the city, has semi-secured controlled access with students manning the office. The portion of the park we were exposed to, loop 2, has a hair pin turn at the entrance, you may need to backup to complete the turn. Park has paved streets in fair to good order with primary streets, two-way, being adequately wide enough for travel, however the loop street was much narrower, very tight turns with vegetation growing right up to and over the road in parts. Very tight maneuvering into and around our back-in site and depending on how other vehicles are parked could be an issue for longer units or inexperienced drivers. Each site is similar to many providential/state parks as each is its own little alcove providing some privacy and camping area. Site pads are somewhat level gravel with some grass and are wide enough for comfortable slide out and awning use. Each has a picnic table and trash cans located every few sites on the loop road. Fire rings are available for an additional fee. All hookups were on the left side of the coach, midway down, easily accessible and worked as intended. The bathroom floor and shower stalls are tile, and both appeared clean at the time of our inspection. Water control for the showers is a single push button providing lukewarm water at best that needs to be constantly re-pushed during the course of the shower. Verizon, Sprint and T Mobile all worked well. Our site allowed for our roof mounted satellite to get reception but could be an issue for some sites. The park has a very appealing appearance and is one of the nicest we have stayed in on our trip throughout NFLD. Although priced a little higher than we would like, we would stay her again if in the area. We camped at Pippy Park Campgrounds and Trailer Park in a Motorhome.

Location, location... this is the park for exploring St Johns and the eastern part of the Avalon peninsula. But, the sites are often unlevel and I used every lego block to raise the front tires 7 inches before using my levellers. We saw several rigs with the tires off the ground. Not acceptable. Power was fairly good and safe drinking water. They ask that you don't dump full holding tanks at your site, so we did it slowly. No problems. If they could level the sites, this park could be an 8. Watch the potholes on the interior roads. We camped at Pippy Park Campgrounds and Trailer Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Cape Spear (Easternmost point of North America) Ferryland lighthouse (even if you don't have a picnic reserved, the caterer can make you a dessert picnic basket), Signal Hill, Johnson Eco Center, and do make time for The Rooms (museum) special exhibit on WWI and the Royal Newfoundlanders Regiment which lost almost 90% of its men on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.

There are no bathroom facilities in the 50amp area, you have to walk about 10 min. There is no shade but you have a wide grass and gravel area. The other areas (30amp) are all well shaded in the trees Security makes its around several time a day and staff are accommodating. Very close to both the downtown and highway. We camped at Pippy Park Campgrounds and Trailer Park in a Travel Trailer.

Excellent place to stay and visit St. John's. Level pull thru 50 amp full hookup gravel sites. Great WIFI and cell service. Friendly people. Big rigs need to stay in loop 4 which has the WIFI and pull throughs. Right in town and a great park to boot. We camped at Pippy Park Campgrounds and Trailer Park in a Motorhome.

Beautifull campsite in the city. Close to everything you might need. Restrooms and showers are old, but not cleaned properly. Stayed 2 days and then returned a week later, the same dirty rag on the floor in the shower. Floors were dirty and assuming shower walls are never cleaned. We camped at Pippy Park Campgrounds and Trailer Park in a Truck Camper.

Great urban campground. Located right in the City of St Johns in a park setting. Full service site was good, but WiFi was weak even though we were close to the entrance to the park. As expected, there is some city noise but it's not that bad. Our site was on the main road, nicely wooded and private - Class B size lot. Loops 1,2,3 are nicely treed but not all level. Loop 4 is open/drive thru sites and has better WiFi. Excellent location for exploring the city. Small store, mostly candy, but plenty of stores nearby. As in any city, be "city smart" and as their signs say, "don't leave anything out". Security patrols on a regular basis and we didn't witness any issues. Felt secure the whole time we were there and actually stayed an extra day. We camped at Pippy Park Campgrounds and Trailer Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Fluvarium across the street gives you a unique underwater view of the river. Very educational. Johnson Geo Centre is an exceptional science museum - a must see! Signal Hill has an awesome view of all of St. John. Piatto Pizza - the best coal fired pizza in town! Duke of Duckworth on George St - pub with great local flavor. Recommended by the locals as to where they go in George Street area. Be careful in the area - can be a little unsavory.

Pippy Park is in a great location for visiting St John's and road trips to other locations nearby. The roadways were pretty narrow for our large (43') motorhome. Definitely should disconnect before going into the campground so you can make 3-point turns if necessary.

It was a bit confusing when we got here, where we should put the motorhome while we registered, we essentially blocked the way in while we were getting registered, but no one seemed to mind too much.

We were on loop 2 and our site was very private. We had 30A, water and sewer. There were 50A hookups in what had been the overflow area, now loop 4: a very open area and may have been easier to navigate with a large motorhome, but the road to it (gravel) had a lot of potholes. There was also supposed to be wifi available on loop 4 but we went over there to try to use it one evening and were not able to get much of a signal. Our Verizon service worked well from our campsite.

The map that we were given encouraged us not to dump full tanks at our site but rather to use the dump station. Something about the site sewer not being able to take a large amount being dumped. We dumped at the site but did it twice to minimize how much went in at any specific time. We asked a neighbor about it, and he had not even read the caution on the map. We camped at Pippy Park Campgrounds and Trailer Park in a Motorhome.

I pretty much agree with previous posts. Pippy is a municipal Park, and is very convenient to St. John's. The campground has really 2 feels to it, the back in sites, loops 1-3 have a state park type of feel, and 30 amp. The FHU pull through sites, in Loop 4 are sites for big rigs, and includes wifi, this is just a wide open space. The laundry was clean, the bathhouse adequate. Plenty of room to walk the pup, wonderful walking paths in the area. We will stay here again when in the area. We camped at Pippy Park Campgrounds and Trailer Park in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed at this park for two weeks in a 38 ft fifth wheel on a full service gravel pull site in loop 4. This is a full service loop with wifi but no cable. There are only two channels over the air. The park is in the centre of the city but has a country feeling until at night when the traffic noise is very evident in the loop we stayed in. The park is close to all amenities but for the price does not offer much. The sites have a picnic table but a fire pit can be rented and placed on your site for the night. The roads are easy to navigate and are mostly back in except loop 4. We camped at Pippy Park Campgrounds and Trailer Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a nice park in the middle of St. Johns, but you feel like you are in the country. The problem is the high cost, considering they offer nothing other than a place to park the RV - with FHU. I would in the future, stay outside St. Johns and commute in for the visit. There is a beautiful park in Holyrood just 30 minutes away on a nice lake. We camped at Pippy Park Campgrounds and Trailer Park in a Travel Trailer.

A fairly large park in the middle of the city gave convenient access. The gravel roads were easy to navigate, and the gravel pad set on a grassy site was plenty large for our 37' MH and toad. A nice plus was solid cover of trees on three sides that gave really nice privacy on the site. The water, 30 amp, and sewer hookups were convenient, though the sewer inlet was rather high off the ground. There was no WiFi at the sites, and even when we went to the gazebo as recommended the throughput was too slow to be useful. We did not use the bathrooms. The laundry was small and totally filled with mosquitos after someone left the door open all night, but the clothes did come out clean. :) We felt it was a good value for the amenties offered at this price. We camped at Pippy Park Campgrounds and Trailer Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed here in our Campervan for two nights. The location for access to St. John's is excellent - it's a 10 minute ride into the city. This is a large busy park right above the city. We didn't have a reservation, and yet didn't have to move the second night because the staff were looking out for us. We used the washers and dryers, which were fine, and thought the staff were helpful and friendly. A little pricey, but it's city prices and the park is in great demand. Nice park with nice sites in St. Johns. Pricey but you pay for the convenient location. With fuel at $1.25/litre, staying at one of the distant CG's which cost less is quickly eroded with the commute. Washrooms were heavily used, not well cleaned. Municipal park, staff appears to be high school/college kids on summer break. Supervision seemed minimal, but after dark the park was patrolled regularly by uniformed "rangers" in trucks, not the kids in the golf carts. Felt secure, despite signs telling you to lock valuables in your vehicle. 2 dump stations. Wi-Fi available near entrance station or "loop 4" only. Good cell service. Would likely use it again if in the area, just wish it cost less and washrooms were cleaner... We camped at Pippy Park Campgrounds and Trailer Park in a Motorhome.

I really don't quite understand all the BAD reviews this park has received. I just spent 5 nights (in loop 4) and LOVED it! Yes there is road noise from TCH 1...but it IS an in-town, urban campground...they can't swathe it in cotton. Yes, loop 4 is basically a large open field surrounded by trees, but I wanted WiFi (& it was great!) and I wanted a pull-thru. If WiFi had not been the highest priority, I could have had a very nicely nestled in trees site in one of the other 3 loops (btw, those sites looked very nice...lots of privacy).

Again, this is an in-town, urban campground. It is close to everything...walking and biking trails write outside your door; grocery stores (& other big box stores like Costco) within 10-15 min drive; St.John's Water St, George St or Duckworth a 10 min drive (or a $10-$15 cab ride in case you want to go clubbing); Signal Hill, Quidi Vidi Village, & GEO Center all within a 20 min drive; puffin & whale boat tours in Bay Bull about 30 min away; and TCH 1 to the rest of NL less than 5 min away.

This campground is all about location, location, location! The staff is very nice and helpful. I can't comment on the bathrooms or showers, but the laundry room was spotless (& this was over the Canada Day celebrations!) However, the campground was PACKED, and not once did I feel uncomfortable or unsafe.

All in all, a great urban campground. We camped at Pippy Park Campgrounds and Trailer Park in a Motorhome.

Filthy!! It is hard to believe that the city of St John's or any city runs this. The facilities are the filthiest that we have encountered in Newfoundland and the most expensive! It's disgusting and so appalling that we will be cutting our visit to this city short. Shame on you St John's for this blight against those who travel to visit you by RV or tent. We camped at Pippy Park Campgrounds and Trailer Park in a Motorhome.
