We took our first travel trailer vacation in NL over 14 days. This was the 7th and last campsite we stayed in, however it didn't fail to present us with some challenges. Our biggest issue was the power connection which was located at the middle of the site instead of at the back (like all other campsites). Given that our trailer's power chord is that long and the rental company didn't provide us with an extension chord, we had to park the 26' trailer right at the edge of the road. This was no easy feat as our truck had to be at an awkward angle to the trailer which has to be perpendicular to the road, and blocked the traffic while we did this. It was also dark so the headlight was shinning in the other trailer across from us. Felt bad to disturb the other campers. We finally managed to park both vehicles as per the photo - just barely fit. Hitching the trailer back was another challenge. Due to the crown of the pavement, the truck hitch was way up in the air (much higher compared to the tongue of the trailer). So we had to hitch with the truck at the awkward angle again. All-in-all not a trailer-friendly site. I also agree with the other reviews in that the park offers few amenities and all seemed far apart. The fire pit were communal. Bring extension cord. Full tank of water if you don't plan on hooking up the sites water (down the driveway from the dumping stations). We camped at Newman Sound Campground (Parks Canada) in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Beautiful national park campground with lots of trees around and between sites. There's a 3 km trail around the campground with views of Newman Sound. This is one of the most beautiful campgrounds we've been in. Very quiet. Electric hook-up only, as typical in many national and provincial parks; we were lucky that a water tap was nearby. The dump site has four stations and is extremely roomy. We camped at Newman Sound Campground (Parks Canada) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Lots of great hiking at this park. Not much shopping or restaurants around, other than the cafe with the visitor center. Come prepared.

Overall Rating:

This is "St Johns" weekend park. It's a scenic "hiking" park but not much else to do. Stayed three nights but probably should have stayed two. There were some nice programs for children. Site was electric only so bring your own water. Water at spigots was called "barky" by locals - definitely a weird color. Site was spacious and somewhat shady during a very hot spell and drought. Understandably no campfires allowed as fire danger was high. They had a small camp store (not a grocery store as advertised on their website) with hand dipped ice cream. The best part of this park was the great people we met who we look forward to seeing again when they come to Florida! We camped at Newman Sound Campground (Parks Canada) in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This is a great family park, quiet, lots of space, trails to hike, and 'in season,' activities, guided walks, etc.

The park has a number of loops with different amenities. Some have electricity, some are generator friendly, and another is generator free. In busy season, generator free is quietest (fewer families with big rigs and the commensurate noise). In off season, sites with electricity are generally available and uncrowded.

Individual sites vary in size/layout, most have decent privacy/trees. Check sites online with photos to be sure you do not get an exposed site. Water taps are located throughout the park.

Services are great. Washrooms are clean, clean, and showers are great. There are small store, with internet, coffee machines, laundry service, and camping basics. And ice cream!

Only downside is having to drive 15 minute for so down the highway for swimming.

Check out reservations feature online, you can see maps, and photos of most sites (except loop C). Loop features are listed online as well, in terms of generator usage, quiet hours, etc. We camped at Newman Sound Campground (Parks Canada) in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Gravel park roads were easy to navigate to our unserviced site which was a reasonably level gravel pad with plenty of space for our 37' MH and toad. The pad was surrounded by grass and a good cover of trees on three sides that gave a private feel. Some sites had WiFi, but not in our end of the loop, so we went to the camp store to connect. We did not use the bathrooms or the laundry. Note that the rating reflects our unserviced site, and would have been higher had we been on one with hookups. We considered the price a pretty good value for the amenities offered. We camped at Newman Sound Campground (Parks Canada) in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

The campground is large with level, partially serviced sites that are in the forest or in the open. We chose a site that was near the comfort station in the open (staff said there would be fewer bugs.) The bugs were horrible. I was surprised that you could hear the Trans-Canada-Hwy from our site. On Saturday night there were lively groups with lots of campfires which caused smoke to settle into the campground making the air quality seem poor (watery eyes and coughing.) There is a camp store (not yet open) with WiFi. We woke up every morning to moose droppings and footprints around our trailer. On a positive note, the comfort station was clean and newly renovated (the tile work was actually beautiful.) The visitor center is awesome (helpful staff, gift shop, touch tanks, restaurant, and WiFi.) The coastal hiking trail is quite nice. The playgrounds were great as long as you stayed moving, so the bugs didn't get you. We camped at Newman Sound Campground (Parks Canada) in a Travel Trailer.

Rate shown includes taxes and res fees. Big campground with woodsy sites. Best A area electric sites are 22, 24, 25, 28, 32, 34 for closeness to the Sound. Hiking trail runs through campground. Modern tile bathrooms in section A with Corian counters. Visitor center and camp store cafe had Wi-Fi, but only about half those attempting seemed to be able to connect, whether using a PC laptop, Apple or iPad, for some unknown reason. Laundry in cafe store building, $2.50 each to wash or dry. We camped at Newman Sound Campground (Parks Canada) in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Most of the sites at the campground have no hookups. Three loops have electric (only). It is a beautiful place. Restrooms and showers were very clean. Reservations made early for the electric sites are essential for weekends during the summer. Sites are large and private with trees and shrubs so dense on either side that you can't see the site next door. Many hiking trails in this national park. This campground is not in Glovertown, but I'm not sure what town it is in - it's at the northern end of the park, where Glovertown is the HQ at the southern end. We camped at Newman Sound Campground (Parks Canada) in a Motorhome.
