Overall Rating:

Terrific Thousand Trails park. Good signage from US-64, with a turn lane eastbound. Access is through security gates. A passcode provides access when the guard is not on duty. Very nice at the reception desk, and offered to escort us after they caught up on some pending matters. We opted to figure it out ourselves with no major problems, although it can be tricky to correlate what you are seeing with the map. Auto-levelers worked fine, and power was good. GREAT adult lounge, and separate family / adult pools. Really interesting golf cart trails and a dedicated platform for loading / unloading carts from pickups. Most sites were quite roomy, and some are shaded. Plenty of others with no sun but great satellite access. They have pay internet, but didn't use it. Solid power. On some sites, utility connections are in front so you need to make sure you have enough power cable / water hose to reach. Bathrooms are clean, but there is no soap dispenser in Bath #2. We camped at Forest Lake RV Park & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

In Advance, Davie Tavern and Tanglewood Pizza have great food and service. Both are dog-friendly. Lexington is about as close, and has many more shopping and dining opportunities.

Beautiful wooded rolling hills, lots of trails to explore, nice open back in sites in the area for travelers more wooded sites seem to be more permanents or seasonal campers. Nice pools and tennis courts a very nice clubhouse with store and grill. A nice park we will use again We camped at Forest Lake RV Park & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Motorhome.

This review is tempered by the fact that we were placed in overflow which we knew coming in. We were not warned that overflow is in a field at the end of a long, dusty unpaved road. We had to get in the car to visit the pool or other amenities. The place was busy and check-in was very slow. The check-in office is minuscule which meant standing in the hot sun until space inside was free. When my husband asked about dumping on our departure, he was told to look for an empty site and to use that. Quite awkward. The sandy beach was unavailable as there was yellow tape around the lake. An escort to the site would have been nice since we weren't sure which unpaved road we were supposed to use and the office had not marked it on our map. We were just told to take "the unpaved road to the right". On the plus side the cafe looked quite nice and the adult pool was a welcome addition. Great places for long walks and birding. Forest Lake is a fairly good jumping off spot for a visit to Winston Salem and Lexington. We camped at Forest Lake RV Park & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a nice little (not fancy) bbq joint just down the road but I would still try to find a place closer to Winston Salem. Had a wonderful visit to Reynolda House. Don't miss the pimento cheese at Conrad and Hinkle in Lexington.

Hot tub. A Hot tub. A Hot Tub. A Hot tub in December!!! Open until 10pm. You have me sold! But really - The place is really well kept. There is a nice little livingroom area with a TV and a Christmas tree. Lots of board games. Heat!! Bathrooms are clean. Showers could be better but they were clean too. I like the location. Lots to do just a mile or two down the road. We camped at Forest Lake RV Park & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Stayed here for a week with our Thousand Trails membership. Nice campground with abundant campsites but members are allowed to lease a site annually, therefore there are a lot of sites in use without owners occupying them. A lot of personal landscaping and even storage buildings on some sites. Not my idea of "resort camping." Campground personnel are very nice and helpful. We camped at Forest Lake RV Park & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Motorhome.

We stayed here for 3 weeks and the park wasn't bad, not the best but for how large it is, it was just fine. We used the pool everyday, some days it was cleaner than others. We cleaned it ourselves a few times. The park is full of year round folks who are very nice. Volleyball in the pool every weekend. The staff is amazing, very helpful. Tons of golf carts everywhere at all hours. Our site was in the back in lot B near the storage area and there seems to be a lot of people coming and going from up there all night. We were also on a hill pull through so we didn't have any room to sit outside at our site. Both AT&T and Verizon signals were strong. We camped at Forest Lake RV Park & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Fifth Wheel.

Spent 2 nights and park is clean with good access to campsites. Not really big rig friendly in that most sites were not level even with adding boards. Most of better sites were taken by annuals. As with most Thousand Trails parks, they are becoming trailer parks vice campgrounds. We observed numerous sites with big storage sheds, wrought iron fences, cargo trailers, multiple vehicles parked at the sites, etc. The swimming area had a nice sand beach at the lake and the family center offered breakfast and lunch. Could be a really nice park with better management. Rangers were friendly and very helpful. We camped at Forest Lake RV Park & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Motorhome.

Well equipped and maintained clubhouse, pool shower/changing room. Adult pool is large; nice hot tub. The Family/kids pool area is really well done with a Jungle Gym, ice cream shop and restaurant. The restaurant is priced for families on a budget.

Our site was perfectly level, large and grassy.

NOTE: the waste water pipe does not have a threaded attachment style so bring an adapter. I use a 3" diameter by 12" long PVC pipe with a standard RV sewer line elbow adapted. Worked well. We camped at Forest Lake RV Park & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Motorhome.

Miles of great bike trails with historical destinations right on site. For example an 18th century pioneer cemetery and a 19th century tobacco barn.

Easy access to I85. Very nice and helpful staff. Large sites, mostly well maintained. Many long term campers, but plenty of sites for short term stays. Wifi costs extra, but well worth the couple of dollars. Most sites are back in. However, we were able to get out 43 ft MH in pretty easily. Would like to see this place in summer, I imagine it would be very nice. Stayed a week this time and would stay again. We stayed here for one night on our way south. The park's roads were very narrow and windy, and in need of repair. Most of the sites are occupied by annuals, so there are very few transient sites to choose from. There were only 6 or so sites available, and of those, we could get our 40-foot motorhome into one or two. We chose the one accessible site closest to the exit, and it was very unlevel, as were all the sites available to us. Utilities worked as they should, and we got a strong Verizon cell signal. However, we will not return to this park. We camped at Forest Lake RV Park & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Motorhome.

I stayed a week. The park is large, with lots of trails, two pools (one for under 18 and one for over 18), hot tub, store, restaurant and more.
You have to drive around to find a site, then tell them where your at. If you don't like your site, it's your own fault. This is a place to come back to. We camped at Forest Lake RV Park & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Fifth Wheel.

We loved our camping trip to Forest Lakes. The park was clean and amenities were convenient to get to without a Golf Cart. Roads were well taken care of and wide. Back in sites were easy to get into. They had both shady and sunny selections. They had several activities for both kids and Adults only that were enough to keep us busy. There are lots of Annual site owners but sites are updated and well kept. Only negative was sites are 1st come 1st serve. Get their early. Get their Early during Peak times, sites go fast and it's 1st come 1st serve. We camped at Forest Lake RV Park & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Travel Trailer.

We booked this park as we received 14 days of free camping at TT. We read the reviews and thought we would give it a try even though it is a first come first served type arrangement when it comes to getting a site.

We booked two nights at the park and planned to arrive around 2pm. Once we arrived we were instructed to drive around a pick a site. We drove around for 20 minutes around tight roads that are hilly, full of pot holes and are gravel. We did not find either a 30 or 50 amp site that would fit our needs.

Most sites were unlevel and hard to get into with a 29' RV towing a 6x12 cargo trailer. Basically they reserved a site for us but you had to find one that fits your situation.

These kinds of parks are loaded with TT members who are cheap and flock to them. I don't know why!! It was not desirable to me at all!!

After driving around for twenty minutes through tight roads, trees scratching out RV, and pot holes, we left! We had no desire to stay there!! We camped at Forest Lake RV Park & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Motorhome.
