Dirty. Cig butts and bits of trash throughout the park. Water pressure in showers was basically nonexistent. Game room was not air conditioned. Pool area was clean but definitely in need of updates. No Wi-Fi in upper park....needed to be in game room if you wanted electricity for the laptop. We camped at Zooland Family Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

The road in from Hwy 220 is narrow and rough in places so be careful. Watch for the propane gas sign to see the entrance to the park. The staff that checked us in was very friendly and helpful. The camp has over 140 sites, a mix of campers, RV's and tents. There are a number of seasonal residents, but most are well kept. Some of the roads in the park are pot holed and bumpy. Sites are gravel and grass and not very level, we were in site 12. They include a picnic table and a fire ring. We had full hook-ups with 50 amp and good water pressure. There is no WiFi. Our Verizon MiFi worked well. There is plenty to do - a pool, putt-putt, trampoline, basketball, game room, catch and release pond, and trails. The store is stocked with basic needs and gifts. The laundry room was okay. Did not use the bathrooms. We paid $29.00 a night with a combination of Good Sam and Passport America discounts. You are about 15 minutes from the North Carolina Zoo. We camped at Zooland Family Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The North Carolina Zoo is less than 10 minutes away - great zoo. The American Classic Motorcycle Museum, about 15 minutes away was pretty interesting and breakfast at the Heritage Diner (same building) was delicious. The Pisgah Covered bridge is not far and offers hiking trails as well.

Great for children. They offer a lot of kid friendly activities throughout the year. October is a lot of fun. Hayrides, contests, haunted house, DJ and Trick-or-Treating. The downside for Oct is you have to book a year in advance. They are full every weekend. The young lady that runs it is always friendly. She keeps a decent amount of product in the store. Propane and firewood available on site. We camped at Zooland Family Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Large family oriented campground, well laid out and clean. Quiet country setting with many amenities although we were just there for the night so we did not take advantage of them. WIFI very weak and almost unusable at our site but the lady who took our phone reservation told us that when we asked in advance. 22 OTA TV stations available. We camped at Zooland Family Campground in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

Not our cup of tea. It was ok at it's very best. It does have good potential with some work.

Negatives:
Our site was not level. It was a mixture of grass and dirt. The picnic table was in terrible shape and what we considered unusable. Other campsite tables seemed ok. The sites are close together. A good bit of permanent RV's. Would be nice if they separated them. We have no problem with people living in their RV, but the sites were not kept neat and clean. They were full of crap (and yes we mean crap). One site (2 sites up from us) had a large propane tank on site. The wheels of the 5th wheel were going flat on one side. Some sites had tall grass around the RV as if they didn't weed eat around it. Could not locate Wi-Fi on my iPhone as the local Wi-Fi (Banjo) was not visible. I could see it sometimes with the MacBook, but was only able to connect once over the entire weekend and it was pretty slow. Phone reception spotty (ATT) as well. Would fluctuate from one bar to no service without moving.

Positives:
Lots of things for kids to do. Didn't use the facilities so we can't really give any info on those. Our daughter had fun in the game room/arcade. The store seemed ok. Only saw it when I checked in. Not too far from Asheboro and the NC Zoo. Would stay again for a day or weekend, but would probably be more selective on our site.

If they would come through and regrade the sites and make them at least gravel, then it would make it a little better. Also, put the permanent residents in a separate location. Or make them keep their sites tidy and clean. We camped at Zooland Family Campground in a Motorhome.

This park is in a rural area down a winding road, with a very tight driveway - I'm not sure how two RVs might be able to pass each other if one were coming in while another one is leaving.

If the temperature agrees, this is a very nice campground, or rv park, with enough sites to spread everyone out, yet allow for group camping if one desires. Some sites are tenting, some 30/20a without sewer, and most 50/30/20a with sewer and pull through - all adequately spaced, though some will have trees within the site or to navigate around to get in/out.
For check-in, I like to ask a park to allow me to pick my own site - for various good reasons: shade, satellite view, proximity to others, length/width of site, easy in/out, etc. By asking politely, good parks like this will usually allow it, though it's a little like pulling their arm to get them to understand why you value this as much as they value assigning sites themselves, which works best for parks, but not necessarily for customers. (there was no lack of plenty of available sites to choose from the several days we were there)
This is a great park if you need a few days to relax and swim, in a rural setting with very little road noise or distractions. We camped at Zooland Family Campground in a Motorhome.

Pull-throughs have a decent size with fire rings and picnic tables. Neighbor distances are not bad, for a private campground. Playground, fishing pond, swimming pool, all in good working condition and clean. Decent WiFi. Very quiet location, 10 minutes off the highway. Rv sites could use some work. Park could update their laundry equipment. Bathrooms and showers were super clean and smelled fresh. but could use benches for shower changing stalls.

There were many pets with other campers but it was very quiet and the grounds were clean.Wifi was not good at all.we called the office several times and the woman was not helpful at all.

too many tree's on sites. We would stay here again but it would be nice if they would actually get the wifi fixed. cell phone service was pretty good.No cable offered. could also use more lighting throughout the whole campground. We camped at Zooland Family Campground in a Motorhome.

This was our 2nd stay at this campground. This time we requested a site with full hookups over the W/E sites in the bottom. We arrived on Thursday at 9PM for a 4-day stay but we tried to call the office but found out that it was closed at 5PM ( MON - THU ) so we could not confirm our site before arriving. We found our packet with a map in the black mailbox in front of the office showing how to get to our site (site #1). We have a 35 foot rig with 2 slides so the sites are really close to each other in this section. This site has shade trees and a grassy corner giving you more room in front of the camper. The WiFi is very spotty and the power will brown-out causing the A/C unit to cycle during peak times. My portable satellite dish had a clear view of the southern size with a good signal strength ( 98% ). My kids loved the jumping pillow, mini golf and the pool. From this site, I could watch them as they ride their bikes from one place to another and feel safe. They had a DJ on that Friday night at the lodge which was across from our site. We could sit outside and listen to the music. That was an added bonus. We like this campground since is very close to Seagrove and the NC Zoo. We camped at Zooland Family Campground in a Travel Trailer.

The RV sites are not level and with 3 bags of Lynx, could not level Motorhome. The sites were mud and gravel. The laundry is filthy and when it rains there is a "v" trough in center of room that makes water run under dyers. Not safe. The store is only open when owner is there so not very often. The fire pits were dirty. We are staying here a week. There is no park manager in mid afternoon to morning. We tried calling owner/manager at her emergency number but always got answering machine, no return call. Did not know they had WiFi as it is under "Banjo", the park's old name. Banjo1, 2 and 3 When we discovered it there was very poor reception. Cannot enter pool without wrist band, and never received one. We discovered this rule after manager/owner left for day. Website said Saturday breakfast no longer being offered, we discovered it had been served when it was too late. Stayed because having mail sent to their address.

Lots of amenities for kids and families.

We stayed thru Coast to Coast membership. Will follow through with them, We are on a five month vacation seeing the USA and glad to say most parks have been great.

They advertise that "Noisy or vicious pets are not allowed. If any animal is unruly, the Guest/Member must take it out of the resort immediately." Great Dane attacked a small dog, and their website "contract" was not followed through. We did not feel safe as this Great Dane dog was 2 spaces away. For lack of follow through to the parks written rules I would not recommend this park to any animal lover. We camped at Zooland Family Campground in a Motorhome.

This is a park that looks like its better days are behind it. Lots of activities for kids, but so much (like the mini-golf) is run down to the point of being unusable. The clubhouses are not insulated and were unbearably hot during the day.

The park is divided up into two sections - the lower-numbered 30/50 amp spots (which we were in), and the higher-numbered 50 or 30-amp spots. The spots in the first section is not very spacious, and the sites are all gravel or worse. Nice little store with lot of camping items if you forgot anything. Asheboro is just up the the road, so shopping is close by. We camped at Zooland Family Campground in a Motorhome.

We stayed Mother's day weekend for a 2 nights. Pool wasn't open yet but park has a playground, jumping pillow and mini golf to keep little ones busy. No Cable or Wifi. No escort getting to site once checked in but Campground was clean and well maintained. Mini golf needs some TLC. Fishing was ok. Site was a pull through with full hookups. Fairly level but a bit close together for a big rig (33ft w/2 slides). We would camp there again. Activities limited but owner tried hard to make us happy. We camped at Zooland Family Campground in a Travel Trailer.
