Positive points - very convenient to I-40 and Asheville, and a level site with decent cable . That being said, we had to back UPHILL over a ledge (almost grounded the rig) to squeeze into a tiny site, backing into a dirt hill. Entire campground is on winding, very narrow roads, and there are trees on the sites that will scratch roof and sides of RVs. Rude clerk at check-in was rushing to pick up her child from daycare and told me to count sites to find ours - just waved in the general direction and handed me a map. Since we had requested a pull-through, we weren't happy to find out we didn't have one...had reserved over a month in advance. The sites are so tiny that we had to ask 2 neighbors to move their tow cars so we could pull out. (They arrived after we did). There isn't enough room for cars at the sites, so they were parked blocking us in. ( very kindly agreed to drive away so we could get out of our site). We think this is pretty outrageous. I took our trash to the fenced area, and was surprised to see trash bags outside the fence...until I got there and saw there were no barrels! Disgusting. I believe in never saying never...but have no plans to return here, nor do I recommend it. Better "camping" at Walmart! We camped at Asheville's Bear Creek RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

First, the positive points. This campground is very easy to find (right off the interstate) and super close to downtown, dining, and shopping (outlet mall just a few miles away). At $42 a night, it may be bit higher than state parks or other campgrounds, but if you are looking for convenience to the downtown area, it really isn't that bad of a price. Now, the negative points. This campground is SUPER TIGHT. If there is a free space, they'll park a camper in it. Or a tent. Anything, really. We were lucky because the travel trailers next to us seem to be empty and neither of them had slide-outs, otherwise it would have been a lot more cramped than it already was and I'm not sure that we could have even used our awning. As mentioned before, the campground is located very close to the interstate. While that does make for easy and convenient travel downtown, it's very, very loud. Luckily (again), that noise does quiet down a bit at night due to less cars on the road, but there is no peace and quiet all during the day as traffic noise drowns out most everything else. Our last night there was spent debating on which was worse... the traffic noise or the barking dogs. Sadly, our view was of the line of trucks from the exterminating company located next to the campground. That was a huge annoyance. Our original designated spot was supposedly occupied by campers refusing to leave, so we were assigned a space near the exit of the campground. They could easily make that view better by adding a privacy fence so that the company's parking lot would not be visible. Still not sure why they haven't bothered to do this. Also, no picnic table available. All in all, while there were annoyances, the park was very convenient and that is what we were mainly looking for this trip. The park itself is very clean and they have trash cans and recycling cans conveniently located - but nicely hidden - in several areas throughout the park. Sites are level. We camped at Asheville's Bear Creek RV Park & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Rude clerk at check-in. Packed in like sardines at many sites. Very little room for tow vehicle. Very tight. However, we had a nice view of the mountains if we got out of and walked to the back of the rv. The grass was thin and in many areas more mud than grass. The white plastic picnic table was covered in black spots (mildew?) Restrooms should have been updated 10 years ago. The park is all asphalt - no gravel, so that is nice. Easy to navigate inside park, but if anyone is trying to back in, they hold up traffic. Overall not bad - expect better for the price. Would stay here again. Very confusing on entry to the park. Sites crammed together. Pull-through sites are right up against a busy road. Lost power at site several times. Interior roadway rough. Wifi almost nonexistent. I do not plan on staying here again. It is a convenient location to Asheville activities. We camped at Asheville's Bear Creek RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Odd park - there were RVs and tents in every nook and cranny. We got up one morning to find a tent in our site, about 5 feet from the front door of our motorhome (??). Other campers walk through your site like no other park I've seen. The site we were in was quite close to the highway - some of the pull-through sites front the highway. The young lady who checked us in seemed to be about 14, but very efficient. I thought there was a driveway next to our site, but a 45' motorcoach pulled in there - we were so close, I could touch his slide out from our slide out. He couldn't put out his awning on the other side. Most of the sites have more room than that... luck of the draw. There were RV and tent sites right by the propane fill tank (seems unsafe to me). We were here for 4 nights - I was definitely ready to move on. We camped at Asheville's Bear Creek RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Asheville is a great city - plenty to do here: the Biltmore area, River Arts Area, interesting downtown. The hop-on/hop-off trolley was a good way to get an overview. No shopping or restaurants close to the RV park, but plenty to chose from with a drive. The WNC Farmers Market is a mile or so from the park.

This is a large campground in an ideal location off of I-26 and 40. Check in was easy but the sites for the most part are tight and can be difficult to get into. We had to unhitch and park the truck on the grass beside the patio. Other campers in our section had to do the same. The site was also muddy, grass was sparse and the picnic table had seen better days. The problem as mentioned about the washers and dryers still continues. The dryers in the one laundry are still not vented and the dryers are not efficient. It took twice as long to finish the clothes. My wife found another laundry room in the campground and the dryers were better but the laundry room was deplorable, very dirty. She actually mentioned the condition to the office personnel, but we doubt if anything will be done. As some other reviewer mentioned, there is not a lot of choices in the Asheville area so this is probably the best you will be able to find. We were here for 11 days. We camped at Asheville's Bear Creek RV Park & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Asheville has many good brew pubs in the area. We managed to get to about four. Wicked Week was the best of the four we visited.

Recently stayed at Bear Creek during our visit to the Biltmore. If you have a "big rig" beware of the true access. The pull through sites are VERY narrow and extremely difficult to get into. Trying to navigate the limited space, picnic table and the other gotchas can lead to tearing up a cargo bay door. We were in a 40' motor home and didn't fare so well trying to navigate all of the obstacles and tore up a cargo bay door trying to navigate on to the pad. I recommend someone get out and help direct your approach. The pull through pads are right on a busy road with lots of traffic especially morning and evening. Also, lots of traffic noise (semi trucks) from the nearby interstate. We didn't use the bath or laundry facilities but some friends traveling with us were under impressed. Plumber must have forgotten first rule of plumbing. Our sewer connection was 12 to 14" above the ground. No way to empty waste tanks. Probably a nice park if you are in something much smaller and navigable. We would not stay here again at any price. We camped at Asheville's Bear Creek RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

It's an unusual setup for an RV park. While there's spacing between sites, there's little room for anything else . There's a double row of RVs on the upper level, another below the cliff and others off the main road. There's a couple who wash and wax RVs for $10 a foot, $15 with Teflon. They spent 10 hours on our 42 ft Winnebago, including the roof and it never looked better. Every time we head South, we'll stop here for them to do it again. Tips for other Campers:

Of course there's the Biltmore... The cost made us hesitant at first...$60 per person, but the campground had a deal...2 days for $70, so we spent day 1 in the Biltmore and day 2 on the grounds. I think the entry fee and the high cost of trinkets, wine, hotels and food cover more than just the maintenance...but there is a lot to take care of.

What this park has going for it is its location: the Biltmore, the cool, dryer climate, a beautiful wooded environment and the sights of Asheville. I concur with the negative comments from other reviewers. Additionally, the laundry facility is woefully small (2 washers, 2 dryers) for this size park and functioning poorly: the dryers were not vented to outside the building. The wifi is adequate, but slows down during busy usage. Half the tree shading our site was dead and in need of major trimming. The traffic noise is very noticeable , but not strong enough to interfere with intimate conversations though loud enough to mask the noise of barking dogs, lawn mowers and other landscaping activities. The sites that are on the bluff have a nice view. An adequate place to stay as long as you don't require the services of an onsite laundry. We camped at Asheville's Bear Creek RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

This was mainly an overnight stop for us. It has convenient access from I-26. The campground is very tight, but it is setup well given the area that it is in. We arrived after hours (but had reserved prior) and found our named site card at the later check in box. We obtained our pull-through site and setup urban camp. Perched on the side of a hill above the interstate, this campground requires some windy steep roads to get to it. Some of the back-in sites require backing up an incline to get into the site. We were in what looked to be an add on section with about a dozen pull-thru sites right along a pretty busy street. To get to that section from the check-in office you had to drive through the RV park back out onto the main windy road and come around past the entrance to another entrance. Pretty strange. The pull-thru sites were quite narrow with poles and rocks on both sides. We had to back up twice to make the swing to get into the site without hitting the utility pole because site was not wide enough to make the swing. There was some interstate noise with windows closed. Not a lot of choices for quality RV parks in the Asheville area. Seems a bit overpriced for what you get. Laundry was very small and not very clean. Bathrooms were fine. Wi-fi was hit and miss. We camped at Asheville's Bear Creek RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Although the Biltmore Estate is quite pricey, it really is a magnificent place to see. If you order tickets online at least 7 days in advance, you get a $10 discount. Also, RV park sells tickets for same regular price as at the estate and you get the second day free. Blue Ridge Parkway main visitor center is close by and has a great movie and information.

Great location, close to interstate. Easy in/out with 40 ft Motorhome. All the park employees very friendly. When bad weather (snow) was approaching we decided to leave 1 night early to beat the storm. The owner of the park was fully understanding and gave us a full refund of our last night's site fee! It is very refreshing, in today's business world, to find a park owner that puts his client's safety before profits! If we are ever back in Asheville there is no doubt, we will DEFINITELY stay at Bear Creek again! Sites are concrete and level. Our site had a nice view over the interstate, but we didn't hear any road noise inside the Motorhome. Our site was long enough for our 40 ft Motorhome and our TOAD parked long-ways across the front of the Motorhome. Some sites are a little short in length (but there are longer length sites towards the middle of the campground). Yes some sites are a little close together, but we had plenty enough room between us and our neighbor. The road leading to the campground entrance has a couple of curves, but not too tight. Park office was well located, easy stopping area to enable going into office for check in. After checking in the road up to campsites is a little steep, but looked worse than it actually was. The road out of the campground was extremely easy! The 50 amp service worked well, box was in a good spot. Water pressure was good, spigot was in good location. Sewer pipe was in good location, worked fine. We didn't use the internet service. Cable TV was offered, but we didn't use it. Getting to/from the Biltmore Estate from the campground was very easy, only 1 exit away. Restaurants and grocery store close to campground. I would definitely recommend this campground!
