Nice stay in February, beautiful views, not too crowded. Staff was very nice. The last hill and curve would be tough to get up if there was a snow or ice covered. We camped at Campfire Lodgings in a Travel Trailer.

The Road going up to the campground is very intimidating while pulling an RV, especially the last turn into the campground. Pray no one is coming down at the same time you are going up! The park appears to be much older than the photos, We made our reservations three months in advance, but the Premium sites were already reserved for the dates we needed so we reserved a Deluxe site. Upon check-in we were given Site #19 which was directly to the side of the office. It was very difficult to get into this site with our 41' Fifth Wheel. We asked for a different site, but we were told they were booked. The site was not in the wooded area as the website describes. The site was very unlevel. The back of the site was so high we could not use our outside kitchen at all. We had nowhere to put our camp chairs, and the only place to sit was at the picnic table which was on a wooden deck which overlooked the road coming up the mountain ridge. Since we could not cover the picnic table with our dining tent, we chose to eat inside our RV. Our fire pit seemed to be in the road and way too close to our RV, so it was unusable to us. We would not consider this particular site as Deluxe nor was it worth $50 nite. We would consider it more of an overflow or leftover site. We were told we were given this site because of the length of our RV. There is a turn around point in the campground that fortunately we did not need to use. Our friends who arrived with us with their 41' RV did have to use this turn around, and they almost jack knifed their rig making the turn, as it ends at a tent campsite with cars parked. Fortunately for them, other campers there were able to direct him and help him to get out of that turn. There was nowhere to walk our dog. There are turkeys all over in our campsite which drove our dog crazy. There was a sign for "Pet Walk" but we never did find it. The view from the mountain ridge was breathtaking, but not worth $50 or $70 nite. We will not return to this park. We camped at Campfire Lodgings in a Fifth Wheel.

This was our first camping trip to the mountains. This place was absolutely fantastic. It is tucked away conveniently to Asheville/Weaverville and has absolutely breathtaking views of the French Broad River and surrounding valley. The entrance road is a bit tight but manageable by at least 40'+ rigs. The entire RV campground is very well landscaped and maintained which added a little privacy between the otherwise close premium sites. It has a grassy picnic area and common viewing area that overlooks the valley and river for all campers to enjoy. All facilities functioned as described. The WIFI was adequate for standard browsing. We did not use the bath house. The staff were fantastic and went out of their way to accommodate. It is in close proximity to the Blue Ridge Parkway and Asheville. We are already looking forward to returning here in the near future. We camped at Campfire Lodgings in a Travel Trailer.

The owners are friendly and work hard to make everything just right. We had a nice site with a patio area, set back a little from the campground road. Behind the site is straight down the mountain! All on the top tier are like this. On the other side of the road, it is straight down to the tier with yurts. Very peaceful and private setting. The overlook area is nice and has a view of the French Broad River valley. Many campers gathered there to watch the sunset. The premium sites also have the view but they are closer together. But with the view, who cares? They are also almost all sun. We hiked a bit but found the trails map a little confusing. A nice walk but the view is at the campground. We met another hiker who said he saw a bear at the pond, but we did not see or hear it. The laundry room is clean and has nice machines. Did not use the bathhouse. There is a covered trash can at every site. A nice feature is that they have dog poop bag dipensers all over the campground. The internet is blazing fast. Network TV was fine. The road in is very bumpy - take it slowly. Just a note, our GPS called Old Marshall Hwy "Heavner", they are one and the same. Some background traffic noise. Sirens and railroad trains but not bad, just a little unexpected when it feels like you are so removed from civilization. We camped at Campfire Lodgings in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed here over the Labor Day weekend . What a nice campground and the view is great from the top also. We had deluxe site . Couldn't get the premium ones. They stay booked and are hard to get. For reason to be understood if you stay here. They entire staff is very nice. They do take pride in their small park . The internet was OK . Can't say what the cable was like. We didn't use it. Out Tailgate dish did pick up one SAT so we got a few channels plus off air had a few too. Our site was old , but level, clean with a good amount of shade with a ton of space between us and neighbors. The water was fine and power too. We camped at Campfire Lodgings in a Travel Trailer.

Look at the turn around circle before you use it. I saw a few 5th wheeler s misjudge this and had a hard time. I also saw some really big 5th wheeler s have no issue because they looked and took their time and they never had to back up at all.

What a nice little park. Premium sites with Blue Ridge in back window hard to come by so we settled for a "Deluxe" site with restricted view. But the common area was a great place to drink coffee and enjoy the best view I've ever had in a campground. WiFi good and they are working on improving it. Didn't use cable but it was available. Showers great and bathhouse very clean. Owners are visible and responsive. Only downside is curvy steep half-mile entrance, but that's the price you pay for being on top of the knob; wasn't as bad as I expected. Very easy to get to Asheville, Parkway and other attractions. We camped at Campfire Lodgings in a Travel Trailer.

This is probably the third or fourth time we have stayed here. One of my favorites in the area. Very friendly guy taking care of the place. Even had a visit from a family of turkeys one morning. We used this as a base camp for exploring the area. Can't wait to come back. We camped at Campfire Lodgings in a Travel Trailer.

This campground is a 10 or a 1. I did find one man to be a little invasive, but I can deal with that. The other employees were nice. The view, if you have a premium site (reserve a yr ahead) is amazing.

Now the bad. We've camped for 40 years using tents, pop-ups, travel trailers, 5th wheels, and now a luxury motorhome, from sea to shining sea. NEVER have we encountered roaches! Yep, brown house roaches, not wood roaches. After staying here 4 days we had to thoroughly fumigate our motorhome. (A couple days later we saw a professional exterminator truck, so it must be a problem here. Maybe it's the trashcans at every site.)

I also kept smelling sewage, but thought maybe someone hadn't properly connected their black water. Nope. I was walking the dog down past the yurts and down a bit more. Yep, raw sewage was running down the hill.

Though there was a table and fire ring we couldn't use them because we had to park our Jeep between our motorhome door and the table which was down a slope. Not allowed to move table or park elsewhere.

Finally, the entrance/exit is treacherous for big rigs. Delux sites are gravel and not level. So for safety and health reasons, I can't recommend Campfire Lodgings. The view is terrible unless you snag a premium. The rest is pretty disgusting. We camped at Campfire Lodgings in a Motorhome.

We were very happy with this campground. It was in a beautiful location and very clean. Showers and bathhouse were very clean. The view of the mountains and the river were so beautiful. We liked being in close proximity to Asheville's attractions and Weaverville was convenient for eating and shopping. We stayed in site D-11. It was not a problem getting up and down the road to the campground but had to use care in backing into our spot with our travel trailer. We camped at Campfire Lodgings in a Travel Trailer.

My wife and I had a great visit to wonderful Asheville... Campfire Lodgings is a beautiful location for rest and relaxation and already can't wait to return again. First, the views are wonderful and the weather couldn't had been any better. Secondly, the grounds are beautifully maintained and clean and management does a remarkable job keeping up with everything. All are willing to help in any way. Lastly, the hiking trails are great not too long or short and it gave us time to get some exercise for us and our dog. In closing visit Campfire Lodgings if you want some rest and peacefulness in the mountains. Thank you every at CL for your generosity. We camped at Campfire Lodgings in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We stayed in a deluxe site(17) very shady and still got the view of the mountains without being on the premier sire. This site would accommodate probably nothing longer than 40 ft . and we were at 37 ft. We did not have a tow vehicle or use the restrooms but I would assume they are clean and well kept. Entrance was not too bad it's a little steep going up and down but as long as your not stupid it would be fine. When we return I would pick site 17 or 1 of the premiers imo.

This is an "intimate" little RV park, only 18 sites. The first 6 are their "premium" sites and are cement with patios. They also have wonderful view of the valley in back of the sites. The rest of the sites although on a hill are heavily treed, making views impossible. We paid $50 a night for our site which was a "deluxe" site, which was a dirt gravel site with trees, and the site had a picnic table and a fire pit. There is a seating area where you can sit and look at the view or a sunset that is available to all campers. There is also a grass area in back of that for general use. One of the difficulties of getting to this park is the ½ mile steep winding dirt road that takes you up the mountain. The last turn going into the campground is a hairpin. Go slowly if you have a larger rig. Either way, the dusty road will make a mess out of your tow. The restrooms are clean, but dated. Each one is a separate room with a toilet and shower. One is handicapped accessible but there is a small bench by the door that could make entry with a wheel chair tricky. We used their campground Wifi here as our Verizon air card struggled. We did get satellite with the help of my phone app satellite finder. I scoped the satellites between a gap in the trees. If you come here and stay in any of the sites down past the premium sites, when you leave your site there is a turn around at the end of the road you need to go through to head towards the exit. Do not hook your car up if you are in a motor home as you will need to backup at least once to turn around. All in all I liked the campground, but the only way I would come back is if I could get a premium site with a view and a cement pad. We camped at Campfire Lodgings in a Motorhome.

This is a lovely campground on top of a hill with an incredible view! Some of the sites have a direct view of the scenic valley. Others sites are more wooded, but there is a place where everyone can go to view the killer sunsets! Campground was very nice. We will definitely visit again! Not much to add that hasn't been said already. I've been staying at this campground as a midway stop between driving from Cincinnati to Hilton Head for years now. If I get in early enough to enjoy it I spring for the premium spot with the view. The drive up is a little steep and narrow but I always see some nice big class A and fifth wheels when I stay so people are definitely making it up the hill. It's well kept, clean, and a nice location. I'll be back! We camped at Campfire Lodgings in a Travel Trailer.

The road to this park is one lane winding rough and not easy in a car or with a big rig motor home! 5 sites have a beautiful view, but the others only view trees so you miss the view of the other mountains and the valley. I WOULD NOT advise this for big rigs. Our tow stuck out and we parked as closely as we could. Most other vechicles were obstructing traffic. We camped at Campfire Lodgings in a Motorhome.
