First, the positive - great wifi. Quiet, except for the nightly trains which we got used to quickly. Great location - close to the Blue Ridge, as well as Asheville. However, when we called ahead and told him we had a 42 foot fifth wheel, he said no problem. When we got there, it was a major deal first of all, to find the place - we drove by, missing the sign, and had to drive quite a ways to find a place to turn around. Finally got in, and let me tell you, those spots are TIGHT! Plus they are short, so you have to park your truck in front of your rv, parallel to the street. With everybody parking that way, it was really hard to get straightened out and parked properly. If you have a small rv, it wouldn't be a big deal. The owner guy just laughed off our comments about how tight things are. We saw big class A's pull in, and the trouble they had too. As was said before, the place is for sale, so "'nuff said". We wouldn't stay there again. We camped at Taps RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Sites all have picnic tables and the sites by the river have fire rings. We stayed in the sites by the river and it was very nice and peaceful :) We camped at Taps RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

We picked this RV park because of its proximity to the Blue Ridge Parkway, and the friendliness of the owner when we called to book. Other reviewers have mentioned that this is a tight campground, and it is - but we don't spend much time in the campground, we are out and about. Anyway, you will be pretty well jammed into your space, but it is doable if you have experience. The bathrooms were a joke - hadn't been cleaned in months, plus they ran out of TP and did not replace over a four day period. amazing. The place just isn't that big!! No amenities, cable worked but poorly. Big surprise was the Wifi, which was very good. This is convenient as all get out and decent value for the area. Would we stay here again? Nope. Would pay a bit more to get a lot more. Also, note the place is up for sale...ergo no surprise it is not being maintained in any sense of the word. I climbed up on the roof of our fiver and cut off a big limb that needed to be trimmed on the tree marking the edge of our spot. Picnic table was so far gone it was unusable. I should also note that is has concrete pads, which was nice. With a bit of updating and maintenance this could be a kick-butt place! We camped at Taps RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Easy hop to the Blue Ridge - only about a mile up the road. Also easy access to I-40 which takes you to the Biltmore and connects to roads leading to Pisgah, Dupont forests. VERY convenient. Arby's right across the road if you like "the meats." Right next to a Mobil gas station. Pretty quiet, but there is a train that sounds like it is running right through your RV twice an evening...

My wife and I stayed here for the sole purpose of being as close as possible to downtown Asheville. It works well for that. I wanted to visit their breweries and did NOT want to worry about driving! I think you just need to have realistic expectations prior to staying here. First off, the owner is quite pleasant and helpful. He's not there all day but can be reached by phone if you need him. The park is small with several long term residents. If you aren't comfortable with your rig in tight places this may not be a good place for you. This is not an "RV Resort" in my mind. We didn't put the awning out, hang lights and plan to meet and greet! We were on the river which was nice. The sites are concrete and it's the first place in a while that I didn't have to use leveling blocks. Full hook up. Wifi was above average. Bathrooms are old, relatively clean if you ask me, not so much if you ask my wife! There is a train that runs rather routinely within a couple hundred yards. It is loud, it's a train. It didn't bother me but it may bother you. Overall if we needed access to downtown for a weekend I would stay here again. It's not a place I would bring the family a weekend of "camping". If we were traveling and needed to overnight it for a rest, this place would be fine. Very close to I40. We camped at Taps RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Very small spaces. On a busy street. Not terribly well maintained. However, if you can get a spot in the back row, there is a stream to enjoy looking at and the spots are longer, have concrete pads and have fire pits (but are still quite narrow). The gentleman who runs the place is very friendly. We only stayed one night and felt moderately safe. It is over-priced for what you get. Lower the price and I'd give a higher rating. We camped at Taps RV Park in a Motorhome.

There is a gas station on one side of the park and a bank on the other. Family Dollar, Arby's, Zaxbys, a small grocery store and a local Italian restaurant are all across the street (but crossing on foot is tricky).

This is a small park with mostly permanent/semi-permanent sites. If your looking for a pool and other amenities, it's not here. Good for a 1 or 2 night layover. The owner is a one man show and tries to keep the place up but it shows wear. The park is for sale. There is a railroad track about 300 yards away, but no whistles. It's a little tight getting onto the site with adequate room between rigs. If you have a toad, you probably can't park it adjacent to your trailer/motorhome. Power is mid-site but reachable from the rear of the coach. We camped at Taps RV Park in a Motorhome.

If you don't need a swimming pool or children's playground, Taps is our kind of place. Small friendly park, within walking distance or a very short drive of restaurants, grocery stores, and just about any business you can name. The Blue Ridge Parkway, the Biltmore Estate, Pisca Forest, downtown Asheville and many attractions are close. Cherokee NC is a 45 minute drive.

The host is a very concerned and friendly. There are only two bathrooms and they are private unisex, cleaned every morning. The sites and may be a bit tight but there is plenty of room for the slides and we have never stayed in a park where they are more level. Just drop your pads put out your slides and camp. We drive a 34' motor home but we were parked next to a 50' unit who had no problem getting in or out. We had to have packages delivered and the host brought them right to our door.

We have stayed in a number of parks in and around the area. We tried Maggie Valley because it is higher up but Taps is worth the extra drive.

Happy Trails. We camped at Taps RV Park in a Motorhome.

Almost anything you could want. Downtown Asheville and The Builtmore Estate are an easy 10 minutes away. The Blueridge Parkway and the Pisca Forest are close. Waynesville, Maggie Valley and Cherokee NC (with the great Casino) are all close enough for a short, beautiful mountain drive.

Closest park to town and its attractions. The owner is friendly, helpful and attentive to the guests and works very hard maintaining this older property. We had an outage on our power pole during our stay, and he had an electrician out to repair it promptly. Sites are a bit tight, but perfectly adequate for our big rig. Smaller, older park, but had all the basics covered, except laundry facilities. Wifi worked prettying good. Owner was very friendly and helped out with activities in the area. Sites were a little close, but we were gone during the day, so it was okay. This park is not a vacation destination but it worked out well for seeing the sites of Asheville. $250/wk. Pad sites are split concrete with gravel in middle. Tow car must be parked perpendicular at front, 1/2 on drive. Drives are all gravel and adequate width. Concrete patio w/table. Sites are very close & driver's side too close to pedestal to open one storage bay on the slide. Owner very friendly & helpful. WiFi was good but must login again each time laptop is closed. DISH satellite SD reception good but no HD for locals (out of Greenville SC)--probably a DISH issue. Easy to miss entry beside Mobil gas station, so watch closely for it. Surrounded by trees, few inside.

This is a convenience park, virtually inside the city, not a destination. No pool or stuff for kids. We camped at Taps RV Park in a Motorhome.

This is a quiet family owned campground that is very convenient to the VA hospital, downtown Asheville, Biltmore Estate and Blue Ridge Parkway. It is most suited for those traveling without small children as there are no kid friendly facilities like a pool or playground. Laundry facilities are not available but a nice laundry is close by. WiFi and cable TV included in the price. Two individual restrooms are not deep cleaned and sanitized daily. Campground is great value for the price. We camped at Taps RV Park in a Motorhome.
