The owner has sold TAPS RV. The park will close on 20 June 2018. The new owner will probably use the property for something other than a campground. That is sad, because we have stayed there for several years. We camped at Taps RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

If you don't need a swimming pool or children's playground, Taps is our kind of place. Small friendly park, within walking distance or a very short drive of restaurants, grocery stores, and just about any business you can name. The Blue Ridge Parkway, the Biltmore Estate, Pisca Forest, downtown Asheville and many attractions are close. Cherokee NC is a 45 minute drive.

The host is a very concerned and friendly. There are only two bathrooms and they are private unisex, cleaned every morning. The sites and may be a bit tight but there is plenty of room for the slides and we have never stayed in a park where they are more level. Just drop your pads put out your slides and camp. We drive a 34' motor home but we were parked next to a 50' unit who had no problem getting in or out. We had to have packages delivered and the host brought them right to our door.

We have stayed in a number of parks in and around the area. We tried Maggie Valley because it is higher up but Taps is worth the extra drive.

Happy Trails. We camped at Taps RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Almost anything you could want. Downtown Asheville and The Builtmore Estate are an easy 10 minutes away. The Blueridge Parkway and the Pisca Forest are close. Waynesville, Maggie Valley and Cherokee NC (with the great Casino) are all close enough for a short, beautiful mountain drive.

This is a quiet family owned campground that is very convenient to the VA hospital, downtown Asheville, Biltmore Estate and Blue Ridge Parkway. It is most suited for those traveling without small children as there are no kid friendly facilities like a pool or playground. Laundry facilities are not available but a nice laundry is close by. WiFi and cable TV included in the price. Two individual restrooms are not deep cleaned and sanitized daily. Campground is great value for the price. We camped at Taps RV Park in a Motorhome.

This is a very nice, quiet, small park on the east side of Asheville. It's very close easy access to I-40. The manager is SO nice and friendly, helpful also. They keep the lawns mowed, clean park, level sites. We had planned to stay 2 weeks, but extended our stay to almost a month. There is a river running right behind the park, and you can fish in it. We have a large 40 foot 5th wheel with 5 slides, and it was not a problem to fit in our site. We would recommend this park to anyone. Not sure of the nightly rate, we paid a monthly rate, which is less. We camped at Taps RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Location, Location as I say. The Blue Ridge Parkway is maybe if that one mile down from Taps. Downtown Asheville is a straight shoot down one road, you can not get lost. Biltmore is five miles off I40. There are a grocery store and a WalMart just down the road as well. We stayed at Taps RV park one week in a 50 amp pull through site which is in the middle of the park. For the money you can not beat it. You have the river behind the back-end sites which are 30amp. Our site leveled concrete with extra gravel to the right, so your feet do not step in mud when it rains, which it did one day. Cable was excellent, and internet was very good. A family owned RV park. The staff was helpful with any needs or help. Taps does not list washer and dryer, but has one on site. We plan to come back for a winter stay. We camped at Taps RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We have stayed here several times and have always found this park to be clean, friendly and very accessible to Asheville. We are in a 40' motor home and have had no trouble maneuvering into various sites. The owner is very friendly and helpful and the grounds are lovely. We highly recommend this park and will continue to return to it whenever we are in Asheville. We camped at Taps RV Park in a Motorhome.

We have stayed at this park many times over the past 4 years and have always enjoyed our stay. The owner is extremely helpful and congenial. We have a 40' motorhome and have had no problem whatsoever in maneuvering our rig in the park and getting into the various spaces we have occupied. The vegetation at the sites is nice, and there's a down home atmosphere that is lovely - we would not stay anywhere else when we visit Asheville We camped at Taps RV Park in a Motorhome.

This is an excellent campground if you want convenience to attractions, restaurants, and grocery stores. As reflected in other reviews, there is some noise from trains (not really loud dependent on wind direction) and occasional traffic. Overall, it is a quiet place to stay. We stayed 12 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. Restroom and bath facilities were clean. Owner is friendly and helpful. When we return, we plan to stay here again. We stayed here seven nights. It is close to many attractions in the Asheville and western Carolina area. The campground is small and the sites are close together, but there is a wooden fence separating each site. We appreciated the concrete pad, level site and concrete patio area. We had a large shade tree. The campground backs up to a body of water which might be the river. We are in a dought and all the rivers in the area are at 50% capacity, so it is not visably flowing. If your site does not back up to it you won't know it was there. Gravel roads are well-maintained. The bath house also houses one stacking washer and dryer for campers use. This worked out as there are so few sites. Several people are stayed on a monthly basis probably working in the VA Hospital closeby. All the sites are neat. It is hard to tell who is paying monthly. The owners are on site and very helpful. Park rules are enforced. We spent quiet evening on our patio and had something new to explore in the area everyday. There is a train nearby but it did not interrupt our sleep. There were only a few open sites during our stay. It is within walking distance to three restaurants, convenience store and produce stand. The RV dealership and parts store is just down the road. Several campgrounds in the area are for sale, so be sure and call ahead for reservations. We camped at Taps RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

We absolutely love this campground and have stayed many times in the past 7 years. Our site is 28 feet wide and we have a shade tree in our yard. It is a quiet, super friendly campground surrounded by mountains and trees. It sits beside the Swannanoa river and is close to the VA Hospital, shopping and downtown. It definitely exceeds our camping needs. NO,it isn't fancy but, Bill and his family are on site 24/7 and are ALWAYS willing to help anyone that needs help. Many of the campers have dogs here, including us. Bill is a stickler for following the pet rules which is very important to us. With regard to the last posting, we were here during their stay and they did not want to follow the pet rules. Leaving a dog outside, unattended and off lease has to be addresses for the safety of other campers and their pets. If Bill did not enforce his rules, we would not want to camp here! It is bad enough that he has to keep cleaning up after pets owners that think they don't have to be responsible for their pet's actions. I can't tell you the times that we have walked our dog and found piles left by inconsiderate campers who think that rules don't apply to them. We camped at Taps RV Park in a Motorhome.

Sure don't know what Taps park the last reviewer stayed at but certainly not the same one where we have stayed 14 times(sometimes for several months at a time). We park on a cement pad with a large cement patio and a privacy fence. There is plenty of room to put out our awning and there is a picnic table at every site. We certainly have no feeling of being crowded or too close to our neighbors. The owner of the park is friendly and helpful. We have stayed at other parks in Asheville and this one is definitely best for us. We camped at Taps RV Park in a Motorhome.

As others have stated, good park. Stayed for a few nights. Helpful owners. Smallish but level sites. Good WIFI signal, even at end of park. No fault of the owners, but regular train traffic a few hundred feet away across the river. We camped at Taps RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
