First! We have a 45' motorhome so all other reviews saying this is a tight park, please learn how to drive. Had no problem getting around. Second! The owner is SUPER friendly and will do everything to make your stay comfortable. As others have said, this is a great location to visit Asheville. If you are looking for a family entertainment/ activities like a playground etc, this is not your park. The park is small and quiet even though it is close to the road. There is a small stream at the back. You might hear the train once or twice but its not an issue. We camped at Taps RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Taps RV Park is conveniently located in Asheville, NC, just off I-40 and on 70. It is located a mile from an entrance to the Blue Ridge Parkway. It is a small, privately run park with one owner, who has the property up for sale because he wants to retire. The owner is a friendly guy and is not on site much, but he is available by phone if needed. The location is unique, but super convenient! Taps RV Park is on route 70 across from an Arby's, behind a Mobil gas station, and next to a B&T Bank, yet private & quiet enough to get a good nights sleep and feel safe. The sites are concrete with a gravel center. This is unique and lovely, because your jacks come down on level concrete! The sites are close together, but there was plenty of room to put our slides out and walk between other RVs. Each site had a concrete pad with a picnic table. There are only forty-seven sites in Taps RV Park. You park your tow vehicle or toad in front of your RV perpendicular to your site. Each site had a concrete slab area with a picnic table. TAPS has great wi-fi, two unisex bathrooms with one toilet and one shower per bathroom, but no pool or playground equipment. We did not hear any road noise, which was amazingly pleasant for how close to Route 70 and I-40 Taps is located, but there are trains that go by the back of the park, but they do not use their whistles, so they did not disturb us. The photos on their website are current and accurate, yet hard to find. Go to AshevilleTapsRVPark.com; Park Information; About the Park to view their photos. If you go to the Photo Gallery tab, it says under construction. If you are looking for a fancy RV resort with a lot of amenities including a pool, this is not the park for you. If you want a small, peaceful, convenient, reasonably priced RV park to park your rig, Taps RV Park is the perfect RV park for you. We camped at Taps RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

My wife and I stayed here for the sole purpose of being as close as possible to downtown Asheville. It works well for that. I wanted to visit their breweries and did NOT want to worry about driving! I think you just need to have realistic expectations prior to staying here. First off, the owner is quite pleasant and helpful. He's not there all day but can be reached by phone if you need him. The park is small with several long term residents. If you aren't comfortable with your rig in tight places this may not be a good place for you. This is not an "RV Resort" in my mind. We didn't put the awning out, hang lights and plan to meet and greet! We were on the river which was nice. The sites are concrete and it's the first place in a while that I didn't have to use leveling blocks. Full hook up. Wifi was above average. Bathrooms are old, relatively clean if you ask me, not so much if you ask my wife! There is a train that runs rather routinely within a couple hundred yards. It is loud, it's a train. It didn't bother me but it may bother you. Overall if we needed access to downtown for a weekend I would stay here again. It's not a place I would bring the family a weekend of "camping". If we were traveling and needed to overnight it for a rest, this place would be fine. Very close to I40. We camped at Taps RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Attractive location due to close proximity to town. Concrete pads, EXCELLENT WiFi! The owner is friendly and endeavors to maintain this older property. We camped at Taps RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Closest park to town and its attractions. The owner is friendly, helpful and attentive to the guests and works very hard maintaining this older property. We had an outage on our power pole during our stay, and he had an electrician out to repair it promptly. Sites are a bit tight, but perfectly adequate for our big rig. We camped at Taps RV Park in a Motorhome.

$250/wk. Pad sites are split concrete with gravel in middle. Tow car must be parked perpendicular at front, 1/2 on drive. Drives are all gravel and adequate width. Concrete patio w/table. Sites are very close & driver's side too close to pedestal to open one storage bay on the slide. Owner very friendly & helpful. WiFi was good but must login again each time laptop is closed. DISH satellite SD reception good but no HD for locals (out of Greenville SC)--probably a DISH issue. Easy to miss entry beside Mobil gas station, so watch closely for it. Surrounded by trees, few inside.

This is a convenience park, virtually inside the city, not a destination. No pool or stuff for kids. We camped at Taps RV Park in a Motorhome.

Older park with tighter turns and you are close to one another. However as a base for the Blue Ridge Parkway it is excellent. WE had a pull through and 50 amp service. There is cable. We camped at Taps RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Tight park for driving but nice space between units. Big rigs would have a harder time getting in and out; our 36-foot was about all I'd want. Laundry facilities limited. Concrete patio and concrete runners for tires. Grass around the coach but NO parking on the grass. Near freeway and the railroad. Don't hear traffic from freeway other than as white noise. Train noise is present a couple times a night but is short duration and we never heard a whistle. So-so water pressure but good sanitary system for dumping. Convenient to parkway and Biltmore. We camped at Taps RV Park in a Motorhome.

Location, location, location. This RV park is not fancy but can fit your need for touring around Asheville. The location is great. It is right by the Blue Ridge Parkway, close to downtown Asheville, and close to the Biltmore. The sites are a bit tight since it is an older park, but there are a number of large motorhomes which fit in. There are a few full-timers, but most people seem to be travelers like us, so it did not bother us. There is a train nearby, but it did not bother us. We would stay here again. We camped at Taps RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Location is great, just off the I-40 on a road with a grocery and a couple of restaurants and a great local bar, The Roots Bar, a few yards up the road. Also had a bus stop just outside which took you into downtown Asheville and ran every hour, hugely convenient and what is so often lacking in other city sights which are often too far out. Pretty little wooded site with a nice garden and immaculate bathrooms. Wi-Fi excellent and the owner was most helpful. Asheville is also well worth a visit particularly on a Saturday night through to the end of August when they have a free festival called Shindig on the Green which offers great bluegrass and Appalachian mountain music. We would have stayed for 3 nights, but could only stay for two as they were booked. We camped at Taps RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Good location for a short stay in the Asheville/Blue Ridge Parkway vicinity. Owner was nice. Sites are concrete and gravel, level and clean. Bathrooms were older but acceptably clean. No amenities in the park other than a picnic table at each site. The sites are narrow, and divided from the neighboring site by a short section of stockade fence to give the illusion of privacy. The park is sandwiched between a river and a gas station. Access to the gas station is easy. River access is blocked by kudzu and boards. Our site, C4, was close to the office, but the advertised Wi-Fi would not reliably connect and when it did the signal was very weak, so we gave up. Next time we are in the area we will seek other options. We camped at Taps RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

AT first glance, this place looks iffy-right off a main road, behind a gas station, gravel sites, several old, dirty RV's. However, we were lucky enough to get a site right on the stream, which also faces a small farm with horses-it was really pretty and relaxing. The site was fairly level as well. Had we been in a site that wasn't on the stream, I would have rated it lower. Internet was spotty. Only 2 bathrooms, locked with keys hanging outside. 1 washer/dryer in 1 of the bathrooms-inconvenient . It is a good location close to highway but definitely not fancy. I would stay here again. We camped at Taps RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Location, location! This is an old park that has full hookups, level paved sites, with an owner-manager. It only has one washer/dryer, no frills, but the best location and the right quality for the price. We camped at Taps RV Park in a Motorhome.
