We had a high site in a hilly park. A pleasant place to be. The wi fi was useless. The office person was in a hurry to get rid of us to the point of rudeness. The only really annoying thing was that the sewer connection was uphill which is always unpleasant. But overall, I would stay there again. We camped at Grandfather Campground in a Motorhome.

We were camped backed up to a small creek. The sites were very close together. Cable TV requires a cable box so I didn't bother. The campground wasn't ideal for us, but I would stay again. We camped at Grandfather Campground in a Motorhome.

Have stayed here many times both winter and summer, as we are big fans of this part of the country. Site was small for the M/H we have, but it worked out ok. Sewer hook up was quite higher then the site, so I had to support the hose for it to drain properly. Large park with lots of tents, but it was very quiet at night. Nice stream goes right through it, and there is fishing and gold panning next door. Propane just down the road and also ski rentals next door. Close to Boone, the Mast General Stores, Linville Caverns, Linville Falls and Grandfather Mountain. Try it, I think you will like it. We camped at Grandfather Campground in a Motorhome.

We just returned from this place and it is WONDERFUL!! It quickly became one of our favorite places to go. It's on the west side of Boone NC off of HWy 105. It is hard to find at night b/c the sign is not right next to the road and it's dark out that way. Most of the camper sites we saw had wooden porches w/ a picnic table on it and fire pit behind. Beautiful view of the mts. There are also lots of tent sites that have lots of shade. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting the Boone area.

I only used one bath house, and it was adequate..2 shower stalls. Could have been a little cleaner and refurbished, but it was clean and met the purpose of a bath house.

Arrive before dark. The campground sign is a bit farther off the road than I was looking and I passed it in the dark...Hwy 105 is dark and curvy. Had to turn around in a restaurant parking lot. Then the campground roads look different than the map. Had to do a 90 degree back in to the spot w/ just flashlights. Its a dark campground!! We camped at Grandfather Campground in a Travel Trailer.

We found the bathroom and shower facilities to be old and dated, very dirty and not cleaned very well.

The location of the park was very nice. We had a nice view of Grandfather Mountain and Banner Elk was a short distance away. The interior roads are supposed to be gravel but require re-graveling. They are now mostly dirt and dust is a constant problem. Every time a car passed a layer of dust was spread over the RV and Toad. Upon registration we were told that we would have to move on our last night to another site. We did move one space over which was an inconvenience, only to notice that nobody arrived to use our previous site. We camped at Grandfather Campground in a Motorhome.

Beautiful campground, some of the sites by the creek are close together. The kids had a great time in the creek, and so did I. Campground close to many nice areas. But, I was completely grossed out by the bathrooms. At first I thought they were just behind on cleaning, but after 4 nights, they were terrible, trash overflowing, looks like they moped once a week, toilet seats broken, etc... I preferred our itty bitty bathroom and shower in the camper. If we don't hear better results from people, we may not go back. But, it is a great location, and I thought the gravel paths were OK. We camped at Grandfather Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Upon check-in, 2 staff members smoking just outside the entrance door, dusty roads, staff drive like maniacs, short-stays are cramped, staff are personable, river site was small and noisy with road/hwy traffic all day/night, no fish to speak of in the creek, saw three rather large water snakes, bathroom was disgusting; clean them or close them. Sites are not cleaned prior to arrival, neighbors sewer line is just outside ones door. Child play area is in need of professional repair. Didn't feel safe, love the general area, quaint country store, no desire to return. We camped at Grandfather Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

I read the reviews about the ruts in the road and they are there, but not as challenging as previous reviewers. Maybe they repaired them. I drove my 38 foot MH in a mountain downpour towing a toad and had little difficulty making it up to site A95. The bathrooms and showers were close, clean and well maintained during our stay. Very large campground with great views and accommodated all types of campers. The site we were on had full hookups, was fairly level and included picnic tables and fire pit. We would return. We camped at Grandfather Campground in a Motorhome.

Lovely views in the mountain meadow area. River side is very cramped. Our motorhome door opened less than three feet from neighbors sewer. We moved up hill. Bath Houses were not cleaned on a regular basis and they need updating. Laundry area needs to be swept out. The lint behind the dryers is several inches deep. They have an ongoing battle with the road ruts and excessive raining. They worked hard to smooth things out. Pavillion was only open on Friday and Saturdays. I found the people very friendly and would return. We camped at Grandfather Campground in a Motorhome.

This campground has the worst access roads imaginable - narrow, steep, and incredibly rutted. Other than that it is an attractive campground spread out along a stream with the sites located in clusters so it doesn't feel crowded. There are several different levels because of the hilly topography. Usual amenities. The Wi-Fi signal does not work well but that seems to be the norm at campgrounds. Great campground for dogs with ample room for walking, running and playing. We camped at Grandfather Campground in a Motorhome.

We would not stay here again in a big rig. Narrow, badly rutted gravel roads with very tight turns. Had quite a hard time getting into our "pull through" site. Have never encountered such indifferent office staff. No one led us to site and it was hard to find. That said, our view was gorgeous once we got settled. Right next to big open area in the middle of the campground, surrounded by lovely mountains. In a smaller rig the setting might make it worth the trouble. We camped at Grandfather Campground in a Motorhome.

I was disappointed in the campground and glad that we only made it a one-day stopover so we could be close to Grandfather Mountain. Sites are not level and VERY close together, to the point where I couldn't tie out my dog, as she would be in someone else's site on her 6ft lead. The whole grounds looked kind of run-down, with weeds growing around the camp sites. Grass, however, appeared to be cut. Don't let the flattering photos on their website deceive you. A stream runs behind The sites in the A loop, but access to the stream is steep and rocky. We camped at Grandfather Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This park has a wide variation of site quality. Ours was not level but it was very spacious. We were on top of the mountain. Roadways are not paved and difficult to maneuver with a 35 foot rig. Narrow and winding roads are a challenge. Quiet with enough trees for shade, but not too many to be in the way. We would stay here again as there is a lot to see. Good beer store, Peabodys on route 105 towards Boone. We camped at Grandfather Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

This park is just barely accessible for big rigs. Very steep gravel driveway / road leading to upper sites with big ruts beside drive from recent rains made it difficult to negotiate turns. Lower level sites a combination of sparse gravel and mostly mud, close together, difficult to back into, no landscaping other than patches of grass and more dirt / mud, and under old trees that would worry me ref: falling limbs and debris. Gravel pull through sites on the upper level were far from level, required several leveling blocks on one side of RV. Seasonal units in park didn't look very well kept. Office staff was unenthusiastic and indifferent. Bathrooms were old, dirty, and disgusting, no way I would use them. Bath house looked newer and was just OK in condition and cleanliness. The park was nearly empty when we stayed so the views of the upper field and mountains were very pretty, that's the only nice thing I can say about this park. Rate reflects weekly stays. We would not stay here again (or at the other campground nearby on 105 which looked worse). We camped at Grandfather Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Great views and a large amount of sites. Some on the mountain view side need some serious leveling. Ours did. Stayed 2 weeks. Boone is a 15-20 minute drive away; Grandfather Mountain 10 minutes. Lots to do in area. Internet was only OK if you sat outside. Cable was good. If you want to use your dish bring a good anchor. Wind can be awesome. Will stay again next year. Rate reflects weekly rate. We camped at Grandfather Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
