Jul 2016 - $40.00
Yes, they honor PA, but only on a limited basis. No weekends or holidays. First night full price, second night half price. They also have a 10% military discount. No Good Sam. Park is very tight and minimally maintained. Office has limited hours. You may have to call when you arrive. You will be met and parked. Located on St Rt 133 by the airport just north of the Coastal Waterway bridge. Little or no noise from the airport.
One significant feature is they have Blazing Fast free WIFI. - CharlieB
Jun 2015 - $22.00
Small park with rigs close together. $22 a night with Passport America. Not a great park if you want to sit outside and kick back, but a great location to visit Wilmington and various beaches. If you are in the very front of the park, there will be some road noise. Friendly and helpful staff. - Nibot
May 2006 - $20.00
We stayed on Oak Island in a rented house in May 2006, and the campground was closed. - nursecave
Nov 2014 - $47.00
This park is a work in progress. The owners are super nice and more than accomodating and there are some things about the park that are great...the bath house is fully tiled and roomy. The office/bath house looks to be virtually new. There is a pool under construction that will be available in the spring of 2015. It is only about 2 miles to the beach and there are grocery and other type of stores and restuarants nearby. The campsites are quite roomy and his power is 15/30/50. There are quite a number of what appear to be permanents although they are not globbed up with add-on rooms and all that. The sites are sand (it is the beach) with grass. Most sites have a picnic table. It was raining when we arrived and we sort-of plowed in getting into the site...may have been soft because of the rain..and my coach is very heavy. There is no shrubbery to provide separation between the sites...but the sites are large. The roads in the campground are sand with a smattering of gravel. All in all, the park has good possibilities. Hopefully, the park will continue its improvements because the town really needs a good campground. - Tcamperman
Sep 2016 - $40.00
We enjoyed our stay and we would come back. We found it to be a good value. Our spot was shaded from the sun, we found the park to be quiet. The personnel were friendly and accommodating. It's 2 miles from the beach!!!
We would recommend to others. - Proctors
Jul 2016 - $40.00
Park is right on the beach, just the sand dunes separate you from a really good ocean view. The site also has a fishing pier for a small fee. We will diffently go back for the solitude and fishing. The owner does not allow you to reserve site they will give you several site numbers pick what you want first come only. Restaurant on site but limited hours more like a grill great for snacks before going to pier they also sell bait and some tackle. - Bongo204
Sep 2012 - $40.00
The absolute worst run down RV park in the country. Traveled in a 40" Motorhome and was told by the Manager that we would be real happy here shaded lots, right by the ocean etc. Upon arriving I knew we were in for a surprise. The dirt road off the highway full of ruts and we had been calling the RV "PARK" all day no answer. Looked like something right off of the sound set of "Deliverance". The majority of the toothless residents outside of their dilapidated TRAILERS drinking beer and half drunk. They were all gawking as we pulled in The only thing missing was the kid with the banjo. What a sorry excuse for an RV park. Looked at the website and thought it would be fine. Had to drive 2 more hours to find suitable quarters for the night in Myrtle Beach. DO NOT VISIT THIS DUMP. - Rick and vik
Sep 2016 - $40.00
This campground is tough to rate. The owners are kind and hospitable, and the grounds are clean. Many of the sites are occupied by full time residents. Basically, it's 50 sites for full hook-ups with nothing else. There are no bathrooms, showers, or laundry. Since all we needed was a place to park the RV while at the beach, it worked well. However, I can't see it being a great place for families with young kids needing things to do while at the campground. If heading to Holden or Ocean Isle Beach again, we would consider staying here again. - Roadschool
Jun 2012 - $35.00
The park was very nice, quiet, and very well maintained with friendly management. It is close to beaches and shopping. We had a great visit for two weeks. Will definitely be back for another visit. - ntja
Oct 2009 - $30.00
This campground is grass sites with nothing fancy. It is close to town and to several beaches. We did not see management the three days we spent here. Everything was done by phone, and they were very pleasant. Campground offers very attractive monthly rates. The grass needed mowing and the interior road had some pot holes but overall a good place to stay. We would stay here again. - Al & Joan
Feb 2017 - $32.00
Very quaint Campground right on holden beach. 32' class c motor home with tow. Just fit site. Older facility but electric 30 and 50 amp available, water & sewer. If you are looking for a resort this isn't it. Owner was so kind waited till we got here to help us. If you are looking for beach this is the place. Listened to the surf every night and walked the beach every morning. Looked at the big parks in myrtle. If you are looking for quiet then this is the place. - gmajs
Nov 2016 - $48.00
Location is outstanding! All sites are just over the sand dune from the ocean. So if you like to surf fish or walk for miles on the beach or just beach it and read a book, this is your place. All sites are on sand. This park is old and in need of some work. Originally it was designed to accommodate smaller RV's - 2 per site so now each site only accomdates 1 RV. Almost all sites are pull thrus except for end sites. Each site has a table the used to be covered. These are now getting old and some are falling down. But don't let that dissuade you if you really want to be right on the beach. The sounds of the surf are great at night. If you are looking for a boardwalk and rides and water parks and swimming pool this is not your place. The Holden Beach fishing pier (1$ to use) is part of the park. We will definitely come back. A bit pricey but location is everything. Did not use restrooms as they were closed for winter. Grocery store is close by. Not a lot of commercial activity on the island itself. - travlinphoolz
Jun 2015 - $58.00
Like other have said its is a tough one to rate. So let me say if you want a resort this is NOT the place for you, if you want pavement this is not the place for you, if you want space this is definitely not the place for you. If you do not like to track sand in your RV, this is not the place for you
It has water sewer and electric, a few sites have 50 amp, power is adequate at 118 volts, it has approximately 25 sites located in parking lot style on sand there have been little to no up grades in 40 years, it has broken down and worn out picnic table with worn wood roof over them on each site, your neighbors sewer hose is pretty close to your able, it probably started out as a fishing spot, we are one of two motor homes here, most are trailers. The camp ground provides nothing, no play ground, cable TV, they only accept cash or check for payment, it does have a greasy spoon restaurant on site and a very large fishing pier.
Now for the good, people are all very friendly, if you love the beach, walking on the 8 miles or so of pristine beach, hearing the waves crashing, fishing, surfing and hanging out in a low key place. This may be just the place for you. It is located right on the beach, just a very short walk as in less than 200 feet.
For ourselves we love it and for the beach part of it and the people I give it a 10. This is the only campground the island, I cannot believe the owners have not sold out to developers. we will definitely come back. - Camping USA
Apr 2017 - $20.00
Great State park not far from the ocean. We had one of the full hookup sites that are very nice. This particular site is odd shaped however. Rangers coming through frequently. Nice trails. - cincychic
Apr 2017 - $30.00
First time staying here since full hookup sites have been added. Had to make our reservations months in advance to get a FH site. Site was large with utilities at an appropriate location. Campground was full for Easter weekend but it was still quiet at night. The bath house was mostly clean except for one morning, I'm sure due to just a few slobs. Access to the bath house is confusing as most sites on the inner side of the loop all have trails to it but in order to avoid walking thru campsites, you may have to walk around most of the loop to find the one access trail. Lots of good seafood in the area. - jrackley
Apr 2016 - $15.00
This is a gem! We paid $15 per night with a senior discount - from out of state with no other charges. Very unusual for a state park in other states. The CG has no hookups - at least now. During our visit they were renovating approximately 15 sites. 5 of the sites have been turned into 2 room cabins with electric. 10 of the sites have been fully improved with full hook ups. Get your reservation in soon as these are outstanding sites in an outstanding location. They look like these sites will be ready by Memorial Day 2016. All the full hook sites are back in and can accommodate large rigs. All the sites in the campground are very sapcious and private. All are wooded with lots of shade. Restrooms were in reasonably good condition and showers were good. We stayed in site 62 close to the bathroom. It was very large and private. All sites are pretty much sand and leaf and tree litter. All had table and fire pit. Most sites are back ins. Reason for the 8 rating is that we noticed that due to tree placement it is difficult to get your rig in far enough so that door and awning are actually in the campsite. We managed to angle the motorhome and were able to get the awning tucked between two trees with an inch to spare each side. It was a great site. Most campers were tenting. Very quiet campground with little activity during the week. Full on the weekend. Great access to the beaches. Definitely will return. - travlinphoolz
Aug 2016 - $31.00
These are nice people and the campground is convenient to Carolina Beach. It was available and inexpensive. Now for the real review. I was lucky. I have family on the island so I spent most of my time there, not in the campground. The sign says established in 1963 and there haven't been any improvements since. The driveway was potholes with some dirt mixed in. We found our spot which was supposed to be a pull thru. It probably could have been had it not been for the tree on one side and the power pole on the other. I got backed in though from the other side. A bit tight but I made it. Got everything hooked up and of course one of my boys has to use the bathroom almost immediately. He went to wash his hands and the smell of rotten eggs permeated the camper. The water smelled horrible. I talked to another camper there and he was running two charcoal water filters inline with each other to make it bearable. The pool was similar in color to the Olympic Diving pool in Rio, a nice greenish hue. The WiFi was available almost everywhere. I connected to four different access points and got mind blowing speeds just short of 1Mbps. That's more than double what dial-up can provide. The campground is more suited to the permanent residents as there are many on site. If you have somewhere else to shower and brush your teeth, then thus is a good place to hook up and lay your head at night. If you need the campground facilities, go somewhere else. - archerspoon
Apr 2016 - $34.00
It is easy to confuse this campground with the Carolina Beach State Park. There is indeed Wi-Fi over this entire campground. We received a map when checking in which clearly shows 16 hotspots. This is also indicated on their website. The sites are actually quite large and none of them are un-level or sandy. People should really pay closer attention to at least the correct name of the business! Overall it's not a bad place. Very shady, quiet, and close to the water. - Splizz
Jun 2014 - $33.00
We did not actually stay here. We had a site reserved for 3 nights, pulled in, and pulled right back out. The website pictures are absolutely NOTHING like the actual campground. The sites are extremely small, and are awning to awning. The office was very dark inside (there were lights that were burned out and different colored bulbs), I sent several emails to them and never got a response, and the lady in the office was not very friendly. The pool looks like a concrete bowl, the sites are not level, It is really run-down and not easily accessible with anything other than a pop up or a tent!! - jennablair
Mar 2017 - $25.00
Great location, Cape Fear River at your back door. Can't wait to come and stay again. - JL Linden
Aug 2016 - $25.00
This is a wonderful campground, and in our estimation the best value for $ spent. Campsites are roomy, although some have hook-ups on the "wrong side." This was not a problem as we carry plenty of extensions. Best of all: fantastic free WiFi!!! It worked flawlessly during our entire 14 day stay. Staff was extremely pleasant. US Mail/UPS/FedEx directly to Reception Office is a big plus for full-timers. Easy walk to public beach access. Bathhouse and toilets are a bit dated, and although clean, are in need of an upgrade.
If coming from the south you might wish to consider the Southport - Ft Fisher Ferry. The ferry accommodates RVs, is very affordable, and cuts driving time as you bypass the city of Wilmington.
We will happily stay here again. - CO2RV
Apr 2016 - $25.00
First time here. I made reservations for 4 nights for full hookups, 50 amps. When we arrived, the staff in reception told us not to hook up our septic because the lift station wasn't working. We discovered later that it hadn't worked in months. Now that's not full hookups, is it? We still had to pay the full rate. They suggested we use the camp restrooms and gave us a site near the showers. They were individual rooms, a bit dated but cleaned daily (we saw the cleaning staff) and definitely old. As someone who likes showering and using the restroom in my own rig, it was a bit inconvenient for us not to be able to connect to septic.
Our site was a pull in. The electric and water were on the correct side, the septic was in the front (wrong) side. Pad was concrete. Roads were paved. Site was long and very level. No wifi so we used our jetpack. A couple sites were shady but most were open to the sky. No dogpark but lots of acreage to walk the dogs.
It's a small open base. No Exchange or commissary. The area is quiet, the beach is across the street. I'd stay here again but will make sure we can hook up to septic next time. - Flippitti
Oct 2013 - $40.00
Grass parking lot in typical, mid-level beach resort area. Full hookups, including cable, work well, but there's a fee for Wi-Fi. No restrooms or showers. Spaces are close together, but I've been in tighter parks. Sites are mostly sand and somewhat level. About 3/4 of the spaces are occupied by permanent or seasonal guests. Those we met are friendly. Good location for beach activities, restaurants and grocery shopping. Park is clean, but basic. Not much else in the Wilmington area with hook ups except the KOA which was full. - DrLewie
May 2011 - $35.00
This campground is not much more than a parking lot. It is very conveniently located. The beach and all shopping is easily walkable. However, the campground itself is a grass sites. Bumper to bumper. No trees. You can get Wi-Fi but you pay either by the day or by the week and you pay for each computer that you need access for. If you don't want to spend much time sitting outside your camper, it's fine. It's VERY convenient to the beach and boardwalk. - kvfreeman
Nov 2010 - $30.00
As my husband says, this was just a place to park. We would not have stayed here except our son lives nearby. Tiny sites (communal dining, anyone?) that resulted in our slideout nearly touching another RV's, and sewage smell everywhere. Would not stay here again! Not sure what we paid; $30 is an estimate -- but whatever, it was too much for this place! - lbeaudry
