Most of the campground is taken up with permanent residents. Some of the permanents are pretty run down. Friendly staff. Wi-Fi works only at the store. Good cable TV. OK place to stay if you don't plan on being in the campground all the time. We camped at Ela Campground & Country Store in a Motorhome.

Oh yes! The staff (owners?) were very frendly and helpful indeed. This place is an older campground filled with mostly long-term residents. Very many of them with attachments (more like roots) indicating YEARS of being here. This place is more sow's ear than silk purse. I was placed in a refurbished area (on one of the very FEW pull through sites) and so had 50 amp service. Allowing for mountains and distance from the city I had almost NO Verizion cell service: but was able to use the WiFi. There were several "choke points" (including the main entrance) for larger rigs and a place or two, too tight for much more than a pop-up. I fouled some overhead phone lines while exiting and driving through one of those choke points. The place is somewhat poorly laid out as it seems to have grown in stages over the years. There are too many other places in the area to claim use just for convienence, but in line w/ the general "pricyness" of the area and time of year. Not really sure I would return or suggest others stay. We camped at Ela Campground & Country Store in a Fifth Wheel.

The Smokies are a wonderful place to visit and camp and this park is right smack in the center of everything to do on the North Carolina side. The property is an older park that is neat and well keep. Most riverfront sites have seasonal units permanently in place with cool river decks, so only a few of those are available for short term visits. The park does have several decks with walk downs to the river that are large with plenty of room-close to all the sites. The staff is friendly and very accommodating-you feel like family. We'll be back! We camped at Ela Campground & Country Store in a Travel Trailer.

Most sites for traveling RVers are small. Sites were very muddy in the week long rain we had. Staff was very friendly and very laid back. Free Wi-Fi and free cable (only a few channels). Lots of people with year long sites with makeshift covers. Not the most attractive campground but for the $10 night (Passport America), free Wi-Fi (great signal from site), free cable and close to attractions in the area - it can't be beat. Fishing in river on campground is possible without a license. We camped at Ela Campground & Country Store in a Fifth Wheel.

Sites are very small. Most sites occupied with year long residents. Available sites to travelers are beside the road. Very noisy. Neighbors are loud. First morning neighbor was talking with a buddy at 5:30 a.m. We left on Labor Day and that morning (7 a.m.) workers were putting up a metal shelter over a travel trailer. Well centralized to attractions. Would not stay there again. We camped at Ela Campground & Country Store in a Tent Trailer.
