I've been staying at the Lost Mine Campground for over 7 years. It is a very nice, quiet campground run by owners who live next to the property. They are intimately involved in the maintenance, care and control of the campground. This bothers some - there is no stereos allowed, and quiet hours are strictly enforced. So, it's not for the partying youth of today. However, it IS kid friendly. There is a very nice creek that runs through the campsite, and children of all ages love to spend hours playing in it. The sound of the creek fills your tent at night - some reviewers have mentioned a "busy" road - bahhh! This is a mountain road just up from the Nantahala Outdoor Center outpost on the Nanty and only local traffic comes up it. Yes, some of the campsites are located just off this road - if the occasional vehicle passing by bothers you, request a different site. Power available for fans and basic lighting only. No cable, TV, Wi-Fi, etc. A perfect place to hide from the rest of the world. Always cool in the evenings, perfect sleeping weather. Have stayed in a tent and in a hybrid travel trailer. Does get very wet when it rains - again, choose your site carefully. Get to know the owners and you will enjoy every visit. We camped at Lost Mine Campground in a Tent.

This campground is very convenient if you are going to the Nantahala Outdoor Center, but I will try someplace difference next time. The sites are spread out on a very busy road. When walking to the bath house I thought more than once I was going to be hit by a car speeding down the road. We camped in a tent with no access to electricity that was near a stream which would have been nice if it wasn't so close to the road and road noise. We arrived in the evening and the woman who checked us in wasn't very friendly. The bathrooms and showers were clean. We camped at Lost Mine Campground in a Tent.

The campground is a great base to sight see the area. We camped on the creek. This is a family friendly place. There were many children out playing..my kids had a great time. There is a pen behind the office with adult and baby goats. You can rent tubes for $4.00 and tube on the creek. It would be nice if there was some foliage or trees between the sites for more privacy or to make it feel more wooded. Also the bathrooms need some repair or upgrading. The windows without much effort could be easily looked into with a view into the shower area.I say this because I was at a campground once where some peeping tom kids did get up to the same type windows at night to look into the women's bathrooms. Also the doors on the showers and toilet stalls do not give complete privacy, my daughter pointed this out to me. Overall, the campground was OK and we would go back if in the area. We camped at Lost Mine Campground in a Travel Trailer.

We spent 5 nights. The weekend was sold out. This is a great campground for tent campers or those with small trailers. The electric service does not support heaters or air conditioners. This is an old campground with a lot of character and a great stream that runs through it. They also have several group sites. The big attraction is they are only 1 mile from the Nantahala River and the Nantahala Outdoor Center. They attract a lot of paddlers, mountain bikers and hikers. The Appalachian Trail runs less than a mile from this camp. We camped at Lost Mine Campground in a Travel Trailer.

We spent 9 nights. A group of us have used this campground for 20 years. It is only one mile from the Nantahala River and the Nantahala Outdoor Center. At least 1/2 the sites are filled with tent campers. The electric outlets do not support a/c's or heaters. For the Memorial Day Week, the temperatures ranged from the upper 40's to a high of 81 degrees. Always below 70 degrees by 9 pm. The rushing stream is a great place for kids to play and makes for great sleeping at night. Some of the sites are set up for small groups. We camped at Lost Mine Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This is a hard campground to rate. We have camped there for over 20 years. We love it. Others hate it. The campground is old and has electric outlets nailed to trees. Electricity is only for fans, lights or electric blankets, as this was originally set up as a tent campground. Small RV’s are now allowed. The campground is one mile north of the Nantahala River and the Nantahala Outdoor Center on Silvermine Creek. We have camped from May to October and rarely is air conditioning needed. This area is in a deep gorge and doesn’t get much sunlight. 95% of the nights are below 70 degrees by 10 P.M. The owners enforce the quite hours and that along with the noise of the creek make this a very relaxed campground. We have spent as many as 16 nights at a time here. Much of our time is with a group that occupies up to 15 sites. A number of groups use this campground since it is one of the few near the river that allows pets. Holidays and weekends usually sell out. The bathhouse is over 30 years old but is kept clean. The owners clean up each site and fire ring after a camper leaves. We camped at Lost Mine Campground in a Travel Trailer.
