As the owner told us, this place is NOT an RV Resort. It is, however, a perfectly acceptable place to stay that is quiet and close/convenient to Pinehurst. We came for the golf, not for lounging at the RV park. As others have described, this is a small (16 spaces) RV park located at a private airport. The spaces themselves are mostly back-in, with a couple of pull-throughs. Most of the spots are taken by long-term renters, but no problems there, other than they go to work early. Utilities worked, although we had low water pressure. I wouldn't count on getting satellite access - there are a LOT of trees. You might get lucky, but probably not. No cable, but we got a bunch of over-the-air channels from Raleigh and Greensboro. Awesome place for a dog - lots of room to roam and play! No facilities at all - no restrooms or showers - you need to be self-contained. The Pik-n-Pig BBQ restaurant across the street is excellent - and busy. The good news is they close at 8. After that, it is very quiet and dark (no night operations at the airport). Note that the restaurant is cash or local check only (ATM on site). The RV park is also cash or check - no credit cards. The owner is very friendly and helpful. We would stay here again if we go to play more golf at Pinehurst! We camped at Airport RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Groceries and other needs 10 minutes away in Carthage. Pik-n-Pig Restaurant (across the parking lot) is outstanding! 20 minutes to Pinehurst courses. Walmart in Southern Pines (20 minutes).

This is just a small park with 15 (I think) sites, all full hookup with water, electric, sewer. Never did meet the owner/operator, did all business by email and phone. Cash or check payment only. Park was rustic, no real improvements, except the sites themselves. As others mentioned, the prices is not a bargain, but it was where we needed to be to be near family. The park is a bit out of the way, but easy to find via GPS

Our site (#2) was perfectly level.

Everything was fine, no complaints since we weren't expecting much.

No issues with the airport, which is just a private grass landing strip for small planes.

There are a few pull-through sites. Ours was back-in, but easy. A very large MH was next door, seemed to have plenty of room. We camped at Airport RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Barbecue restaurant across the road from the park. It's OK, nothing to brag about, but very busy for some reason. Guess there just aren't many BBQ places around.

Date of Stay: February, 2016 - $14.00
Overall Rating:

The good: Easy access, good WiFi (DSL), owner is friendly and accommodating, extremely quiet at night, good water, electric, full hookup, convenient to groceries, good area to walk (taxiway). The 'okay': The park is a cleared out circle with 16 sites all facing the center of this circle. No facilities of any kind. The bad: Some of the sites appear to be hard to level. Not aesthetically appealing...it's a place to stay if you need to be in the area. ** When we first drove past this park, we turned around and left. After staying at another park in the area in during heavy rains, we decided to give this a chance. It was actually a pretty nice place if you can get the right site. It's VERY entertaining with the runway next door and you can watch the planes (and Blackhawk helicopters) take off and land on pretty days. This can get pretty loud during busy times, but it's just during the day. At night, there is NO noise whatsoever. Very convenient to Pinehurst. We would stay here again. The price reflects a monthly rate. We camped at Airport RV Park in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Definitely NOT worth $35, but it's the only CG we can find within reasonable distance of Pinebluff (30 mi. away) to handle a Class A 40' rig. Gravel/dirt mixture surface, little grass--no open green areas. Be careful to not miss the street; it's about 1 mile from city center.

GOOD: Entry is off a paved road with very large parking lot opposite, so it's easy to maneuver into and back out. For a satellite mounted atop the rig on the front, only the pull-thru and possibly 1-2 back-in sites will work (portable units elsewhere need to be set in the open area, susceptible to cars turning (but probably ok). The 50amp is clean and the water pressure at 60psi is very good. The Pik N Pig restaurant is just across the parking lot behind the park--haven't gone there.

BAD: Low hanging tree limbs over nearly all the back-in sites. VERY narrow sites, but nearly all do have some trees/bushes between them. Yes, they do have picnic tables, but there is barely enough space on any site to use them. No facilities of any type. No office, no CC accepted, no discounts to the inappropriately-high price. If it didn't rain every day, sun would have been on windshield in afternoon--PT sites face SW. We camped at Airport RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

For utility, this is fine. It works for a very short stay.

For an fun or vacation experience, go elsewhere.

NOT for children.

There are clearly a number of monthly or at least weekly residents who are apparently working in the area.

Previous review is right on, except I thought the meals at the Pik n Pig were wonderful. There are 16 sites in a circle with the sites being very close to each other. Some sites are shaded; some are in direct sun. Most are back-in sites. Each site does have a picnic table. I couldn't pull in the Wi-Fi at all. TV reception was pretty good. I think the cost is rather high considering there are no restroom facilities at all. It was convenient for me to stay here due to touring the area. The owner was very nice and accommodating. We camped at Airport RV Park in a Motorhome.

Wi-Fi is weak. BBQ is fare. Bluegrass is good. It has no facilities, but is next to a BBQ restaurant and an airport. It has no bathrooms, no showers, just full hookups. Nothing else. We camped at Airport RV Park in a Motorhome.
