We stay 5 nights. The host greeted us immediately and made sure we had full water on board. Our site was back in, long enough to fit our motorcycle trailer in front. The campground is absolutely gorgeous! Wide, open, green, wonderful sites. Have water in your tanks. There is easy access to dump station and water to refill. The roads going to campground are DARK at night. But we loved it and will be back ! We camped at Cedar Point Campground USFS in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Discount reflects senior America pass rate, this campground deducts $10 per night but has an electric surcharge that makes the total discount less than 50%. Showers are individual rooms with a shower and bench. Electric, but no water or sewer at the sites. Plenty of room, it's a really nice campground near the ocean and several good-sized towns where you can shop or dine. Walmart is only a few miles away. Water access is nearby along with walking/biking paths that are well-maintained. We had reserved our site online, so didn't check in with anyone, just found our spot. It had our name and checkout date already attached. Very quiet at night, plenty to do in the vicinity. We'd like to come back and do more exploring. Our site was long enough for our 45' fifth wheel, we parked with the trailer wheels off the pavement so there would be room for the truck, but if you had to park elsewhere there is extra parking near the bath house, which is in the middle of the two loops. We're 68' connected. They seem to have recently renumbered the sites, so don't go by the photos on ReserveAmerica. Site 20 is the pull-through, even though site 21 had the picture of the pull-through when we reserved. Not an issue, just be aware. The descriptions on ReserveAmerica seem to be accurate. We camped at Cedar Point Campground USFS in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The "Crystal Coast" is only a few miles away. Try Surf's Up for daily drink specials and decent food. Fort Macon is at the north end, and Beaufort is close across the bridge back to the mainland. Lots of neat homes along the water's edge, do Ocean Drive on the island.

Total includes $10 transaction fee. We stayed here two nights and it was a good location for exploring Morehead City, Beaufort, Harker's Island. Easy to find, not too far off the main road. Wide paved roads, easy to navigate within the campground. Very spacious sites! Site very level, grounds nicely maintained (nothing scraping the top of our rig). Great fire pit and picnic table area. Beautiful trees and a nice walking trail near the water that you can walk to from the campground. Quiet place. Definitely recommend! We camped at Cedar Point Campground USFS in a Motorhome.

A real nice, clean, quiet park. Electric at sites, no water or sewer. I don't have gravity feed for water so, I need to use a hose, so water fill was doable but it was not a threaded fitting on the water. They have 1 dump station. All sites were paved and had grill/fire setups. They were far enough apart for some comfort. The Hosts were on the job, your info was posted on the site you reserved and they came right over to check you in, very helpful. There is a boat ramp and a nice walking trail 1/4 mile from the park. It is 10-15 minutes from the beaches at Emerald Isle. Short trip to Swansboro, an hour to New Bern or Cape Fear lighthouse ferry. I stayed 3 nights. I will be back and stay longer. We camped at Cedar Point Campground USFS in a Motorhome.

Basics: Paved roads easy to get around in with paved sites that are all pretty long. They just have power at the sites 20/30/50 and water scattered around the CG and the dump station. Verizon phone and MiFi work well. Showers were clean but it's a push button shower and it takes 5-8 pushes to get something other than cold water then it's just warm with mediocre pressure. They have a nice hiking trail and elevated board walk through the tidal marsh lands. If you enjoy the sound of distant thunder everyday you're in luck come rain or shine. Camp Lejeune Marine Base is just down the road and you'll be serenaded by the sounds of mortars, heavy artillery, naval gun fire, rocket fire, demolition training, some fixed winged and rotary winged aircraft. They generally limit the training from 0800 hrs to 2359 hrs (8 am-1159 pm) 7 days a week. You can get the scheduled by going to the camp website and look under "Training", "Scheduled Noise Generating Events". It won't shake you out of your chair but it will occasionally rattle a few windows. Outside of that it's very nice quiet CG that has a lot space between sites and partial shade. This is the second time we stayed here and would do so in the future. One note is that they lock the gate at 10 pm, this seems to be a North Carolina thing that I'm not particulary fond of. We camped at Cedar Point Campground USFS in a Motorhome.

Your car GPS will drive you past the entrance and makes it difficult to turn around near a dead end. When driving up VFW road look on the LEFT side about 1 mile into the road for State Park signs. My GPS said destination on the right and I missed the entrance on the left. No water hookup at sites but there's potable water to fill up just past the dump station. We got 4 days of showers in our RV before running out of water and easily towed over to the dump station and potable water station to dump and fill up. There is no office to check in. Just go directly to your reserved site. There will be a sign at your site with your name and reserved dates. Very full on weekends. Weekdays there were walk in spots available. For walk in there is a co-host that will assign you a site. We camped at Cedar Point Campground USFS in a Fifth Wheel.

Beautiful park with spacious sites. Only has electric ( 30/50 amp) no water or sewer. Concrete pads easy to level. Biggest complaint was the bathroom and shower facility. We do not usually use campground facility's, but we were here for a week and with no water or sewer we did not want to hook up to refill water and use dump. Bathrooms looked like they are not cleaned regularly and no soap provided for washing hands. The showers were not cleaned the whole week we were there and were gross, mold and fungus on everything. We would not stay here again, which is a shame because it's a very nice park. We camped at Cedar Point Campground USFS in a Fifth Wheel.

My husband and I camped at Cedar Point 9/29 to 10/2. We camp there every fall and love the facility and have never had any complaints before. This stay was different. There were 2 host campsites. One had a dog that was tied outside barking incessantly. The campground was full and this was the only site with a barking dog. I finally asked him to shut the dog up. After telling me his dog rarely barks he did take the dog in. We left shortly after. Barking dogs are one of the biggest complaints at campgrounds. The second complaint concerns dirty bathrooms. I did talk to the other host on the last day about how dirty the bathrooms were. He became defensive and told me he cleaned them every day picking up trash on the floors. I pointed out 2 gross situations in both mens and women's and he said he must not have noticed them. I explained they existed when we came on the 29th. In the men's someone had a diarrhea experience which was all over the stool. In the women's a woman's tampon removal had touched the front of the stool leaving a blood smear. Both conditions were still there on 10/2 when we left. This is a wonderful facility that needs to be taken care of. Perhaps a different host company would be able to do a better job. We camped at Cedar Point Campground USFS in a Fifth Wheel.

* Price includes $7 for electric and $3 for reservation fee. * Another great National Forest campsite. All sites are paved; minimal leveling required. Lots of trees and shade -- plenty of room for the hamock and screenhouse. No individual water at sites, but potable water available at the dump station. Hosts were visible and attentive. Bathhouse was clean with large, individual showers. Mostly TTs and big rigs -- only saw 2 tents. Hiking trails and boat ramp located 0.5 miles away, within the park. There is a marine airfield nearby, so you will hear planes and "booms" occassionally. Would have given this one a "10" if it had water hookups. This is a National Forest Service campground, so the Senior Pass ensures a 50% discount from the rate of $20/night to $10/night. BUT there is a $7 add-on for the 50 Amp electric service. No water, no sewer. Still a great value! There was plenty of room for our45' big rig to negotiate the interior roads, and the sites were more than long enough. Satellite would work from some sites, but not ours, alas! Great spot for bike riding! We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Cedar Point Campground USFS in a Motorhome.

This park has a fairly small number of sites. Each site is paved and has a side area with gravel for tents. The sites are well laid out so that you are not lined up with your neighbor and there is plenty of space. Some of the spots are shared - that is, separate electric panels, but shared picnic table and fire ring. Water is not available on site, but there are several spots to get water thoroughout the campground There are nice, easy trails near the campground, and there is also water access. GPS does not find the exact location of the campground so be sure to look for VFW Road, which is off of Route 58. The campground is off of VFW road. It doesn't say "Cedar Point Campground" just Croatan Forest so it can be confusing. Signage coming from the north on 58 is better than from the south. Showers are unisex and separate from the toilets. Each one is private. Water pressure is extremely low and you need to push the button every 20-30 seconds to get more water. You also need to be quite patient for hot water. There are lots of cobwebs high up in the showers and the bathrooms. No soap is provided in the bathroom and it is quite dark. The campground is in a good location for exploring Beaufort (45 minutes away). We camped at Cedar Point Campground USFS in a Motorhome.

I highly recommend taking the ferry from Beaufort to Shackleford Banks - an uninhabited island with wild horses and beautiful beaches and seashells. The town of Beaufort is nice too.

Our first visit back since the National Forest Service made a major upgrade investment and re-opened the campground. Roads re-paved, sewage treatment plant and dump station relocated, sites are spacious and nicely re-paved with new picnic tables. The restrooms appear the same, and the showers, which need updating, take a beating from summer visitors. Book ahead for summer stays and look for single sites (some are buddy sites.) I have recommended Cedar Point many times and will return. We camped at Cedar Point Campground USFS in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

This campground is very close to the beaches and activities of Emerald Isle without the noise and traffic, and there are convenient services a few miles away at the highway 58 intersection with highway 24 (grocery store, major drugstore and hardware chain stores, pharmacy, farm markets, etc). Don't miss Fort Macon or the state's excellent aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores.

Price reflects Nat. Park Senior Pass Price. Only thing missing is the water & Sewer hookups. Nice clean park, level sites. Dump site w/fresh water available in park. Signage from South could be better, FOLLOW sign to VFW, then straight to Park sign. When in the area again we would stay again. We camped at Cedar Point Campground USFS in a Motorhome.

Price reflects Senior Pass price. The volunteer host was more than accommodating. Very nice shaded level site. Dump station is closed for an extended time. If you are coming from the south: turn north on to NC 58 and proceed about half a mile making a left turn on to VFW Rd. I think the sign says something like National Forest Recreation Area, but doesn't specifically say Cedar Point. I went by and had to make a u-turn. If you are coming from the north the signage is correct. We camped at Cedar Point Campground USFS in a Motorhome.

The park itself is fantastic. Great sites, close to the beach without the expense of those private parks, and close enough to shopping center that grabbing that last minute item you left at home is no problem. The cause of the low review is the camp hostess - she had gone out of her way to reprimand me in front of my children which is in itself completely unprofessional and upsetting, but that it was unfounded was even worse. If you want cheap and near enough to beach, this is the place. But if you like to be treated as a reasonable adult trying to entertain kids on a family vacation - avoid it at all costs! Some things are worth paying extra for! We camped at Cedar Point Campground USFS in a Travel Trailer.
