1 Park near Chapel Hill, North Carolina
May 2016 - $15.00
We have adopted this park as our permanent residence for domicile purposes (though we will be traveling most of the year), so the rate is the daily equivalent of a monthly rate, to which electricity must be added. We have been here for 2 months, so have had a good taste of the park.
The park is a converted trailer park; there are several legacy mobile homes. The sites are therefore much more spread out than in a typical RV Park, and they are situated in a nice stand of hardwood forest. Ours is possibly the nicest of any RV park site we have experienced in many years of casual RVing.
The park owner and staff are superb: they are friendly and couldn't be more helpful. WiFi reception is much better than most parks we have been in, though it does occasionally go down.
Though most of the residents are semi-permanent (mostly folks in long-term hospital care situations, or traveling workers) or permanent, there are several sites for short-termers and people are coming and going all the time. So, come visit -- you can rent our site if we're not here!
For short-termers, though, the sites may not be equipped as might be expected for the usual RV Park, for instance, picnic tables and fire rings are not provided, though they are allowed. And, there are no public shower/toilet/laundry facilities. For this reason, we scored the park a 9, instead of a 10. - cwdavis
Dec 2015 - $35.00
Clean, quiet but not great for children. No facilities but nice sites. No cable works now so you have to get a box from manager and hook it up yourself if a box is available. Hard to get satellite due to trees. We had a few non friendly remarks from on site manager. But overall it is convenient and usually well maintained. Summer is an issue due to accumulated leaves on ground and no sun. Chiggers, ticks, mosquitos can be horrible do cover yourself with repellent each morning and during the day. It could be improved upon but it is the only campground that is near Chapel Hill. Very safe though and pets are welcomed. Not many campers interact so you are mostly left alone. - SkipperLee
Jun 2015 - $35.00
The primary purpose of this park is to serve as a place for those to stay who are undergoing treatment at UNC or Duke Hospitals. Secondly for contractors working in the area. There are also temporary spots available. We were here from Sept 2014 to June 2015 working a contract job. The park management are super people. The park is well kept and clean. On site trash pick up twice a week. Sewer, water, cable and electric at each site. Wi-Fi is available but not the best. If we are ever in the area and need a place we would good back. - BorntoCruise
