This county park is huge and has a lot to offer in the way of activities and the community takes advantage of this gem. The RV section is a small part of the park, but it to is popular and very attractive. Heavily wooded and spacious sites. Large and well designed dog park. Friendly staff. Close to the many sights Winston-Salem has to offer. Though the trees prevent satellite reception, the park has an extensive selection of cable channels in hi-definition! A rare bonus. We enjoyed our stay here. We camped at Tanglewood Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Stayed in site #2, no need to level. Campground is located next to dog park, which was a plus for us, and we had a view of horses residing just outside CG. The site was paved with full hookups. No wood fires allowed but we did use our Little Red Campfire gas fire pit. A code is required to use the restroom. CG host was very friendly and helpful. This is definitely more glamping than roughing it since no tents are allowed or wood fires, but full hookups including cable and wifi are included. We camped at Tanglewood Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Great campground with so much to do. There are paved walking trails and unpaved mountain bike trails, hiking trails, and horseback riding trails that all meander through the beautiful hardwood forest. The trails are well maintained. Bring your bikes. The campground is 200 yards away from a clean, fenced, off-leash dog park that separates large dogs (greater than 25 pounds) from the small dogs. Both the trails and the dog park contain several trash cans and pet waste bags for your convenience. You can even take a horseback ride along the Yadkin river. 45 minute long ride for $30 each. Very fun. The campground is only a part of the overall 1100 acre county owned and operated park. The campground consists of 44 full hook up sites that are paved and offer 20, 30, and 50 amp connections and cable. Sites 24-37 are not very level with some having over 2 feet of fall from front to back. Sites 5-8 have a little over 1 foot of fall. Sites 1-4, 10-23, and 38-44 are the most level in the park. It seems that motorhomes have the most trouble leveling out. We stayed in our 5th wheel, so we limited how much we manually dropped our front legs before unhooking. The hosts were all very friendly and helpful and stay on sites 45-47. We camped at Tanglewood Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Stayed in slot 38, which is a nice level wide and close to bath house location.

All slots on that side, 38 - 44 are reasonably flat. On the other side slots 37 - 31 have a varying degree of slope front to back with ones in middle of row needing some 8" or so of wood to level.

Same issue with slots 24 -30 worse in middle and better toward ends.

slots 1-16 appeared to be mostly level with some front to back slope.

When you enter the park off side street be sure to turn left at first road and then to right to park to go into office to check in.

The Park consist of a lot of activities area's including 2 nice golf courses and a BMX course. There is a nice dog park just a short distance from the RV area so a nice place to run the dog.

Bath house is nothing special but is heated with no coin meters for showers like you see up north..:) The door is locked with code from office on paper work at check in.

WIFI was good at our site but hard to get when in Airstream. Walk outside and good to go. Did notice the antennas appear to be mounted up by the host sites and dumpster area and pointing toward the RV area so not sure how good the signal is for slots 1-16 at far end of RV area.

When we were there with WBCCI rally, Piedmont unit 106, they were getting to open the Christmas light drive which looked to be fabulous. We camped at Tanglewood Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed at Tanglewood by a recommendation from a camp host on a Facebook RV and I must say, it was a great referral. The RV park is maintained by the county and is part of a larger extensive public park. The RV park itself is not huge, just 44 sites laid out in 4 rows. All roads and sites in the park are paved and include a paved patio. We were in the first row, site #3 which is the best place to be. In this row the back of your site backs up to a huge grass area, and about 200 yards away is the County parks off leash dog park, which was always busy. This also worked out well for us because to the many mature trees in the RV park, roof top satellite was not possible from almost all sites. Due to the large grassy area behind the site I was able to set up the remote satellite dish and just shoot over the tops of the tall trees. The middle rows of sites, say the 20's and 30's can be a real challenge to level on. The sites slope off dramatically to the back, and since all of their sites except #10 are back ins, motorhomes need to be careful when leveling as to not get both rear wheels off of the ground. The campground restrooms are older, but are clean and handicapped accessible. The Verizon air card worked here, but signal could be sketchy due to the distance from the nearest tower. The sewer connection is a bit high (about 8" tall) and the water pressure can drop to the 20 psi range when the park is full, but these issues are minor compared to the pluses of the area. The campground's season runs from May 1 thru November 30 and then shuts down for the winter. However the last week of November the County constructs a "Festival of Lights" in the adjoining park and should be quite spectacular. We left while it was being set up so we didn't get to see it. One issue is that there are NO motorcycles allowed in the RV park, or the county park. Alcohol is also not permitted in the park, but discreet consumption is possible. We camped at Tanglewood Park Campground in a Motorhome.

We have stayed here many times and have always found this park to be a gem. The sites are paved pads, all with full hookups and good cable and wifi. While I would not say that the sites are spacious, they are not cramped and should handle most any size rig. Most sites have at least partial shade as a canopy of very large trees is throughout the campground. All sites have good picnic tables. The one word of caution is to pick your site carefully as leveling your unit can be a problem on sites 25-35. These sites range from poor to very poor on my leveling scale and sites 31-35 would be very challenging to level your rig. This is no secret as lots of other reviews point this out too. Just beware that you will need lots of leveling skills and materials on these sites. Otherwise this is a great park that has lots of amenities in the nearby Tanglewood County Park. The campground and the county park were at one time the estate of William Neal Reynolds who was the brother of tobacco king R J Reynolds. The park fee is part of your camping fee so no additional park charge is placed on campers. Within the park and just outside of the campground are biking, jogging, and walking trails. The park also has a separate mountain biking area for vaious skill levels plus a BMX track (truly a bikers dream park). The park also includes 2 18 hole championship golf courses as well as a 18 hole par 3 course. There is a pool and waterpark area, tennis area, and stable area for horseback riding. If that's not enough to do, there is a small lake for light fishing and paddleboating. The old estate home is now a B&B and you can stroll the gardens and through the arboretom. You can easily spend a week in the area which includes the old Salem historic settlement, Winston Salem, Wake Forrest University, and the estate of RJ Renolds. This is really a great area to camp and visit. We camped at Tanglewood Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Stayed here for a week while our child attended the STEM Program at Wake Forest University. My brother was with us, who has COPD. We were told we could use the golf cart for him to use, but once here, you could only go to the outdated bathhouse. All park amenities were at least a mile from the campground. Very unlevel lots. NO CABLE!!! The park hosts say Time Warner Cable recently changed the park to digital, and it has left the lots with NO SERVICE. I will not stay here again. Park is fairly clean, with beautiful gardens, you just have to get in the car to drive to everything. There are only a few level lots. We camped at Tanglewood Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a very nice campground within Tanglewood Park, very clean and the sites are nicely spaced. The 3 negatives of the campground are unlevel sites, a dated bath house and weak wireless. We really enjoyed the mountain bike trails and I also took my daughter to the Par 3 course inside the park, which is perfect for beginners(no sand and all holes are less than 90 yards long). I have already made reservations for later this year. We camped at Tanglewood Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

A city owned park. Nicely landscaped and clean. Well maintained. Asphalt, FHU-20/30/50 but numerous sites are seriously tilted. My Auto Level grounded the fiver's front jacks and we had to manually level, noting a tilt to the left. Sewer pipes just a bit too high (tended to drain "uphill"). Roads are asphalt and wide enough for the angled back-in (all sites are back-in). All utilities are at the rear of the sites. Sites are very roomy and the CG is big but I only saw one restroom/shower building to service everyone. We camped at Tanglewood Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Used this park as a one night stop on our way home. This is a large and beautiful county park. Interior roads are excellent and all sites are paved. That said leveing is the biggest problem. Some sites are fairly level but others are very slanted front to back. Staff seems to know the park well and can help chose best site for your camper. Large tall oaks for shade but no low hanging limbs. Excellent FHU. Restrroms clean but could use update. Staff and camp hosts friendly and helpful. We got to Tanglewood on their last open night of the season. We lucked out and got their only pull-through, site 10. The park has great trails and is clean and well kept. We were fortunate enough to go on the tour of lights that evening and it was spectacular. We will try to stay again if in the area. A word of caution, many of the sites are extremely uneven and would not work for a large rig. We camped at Tanglewood Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a gem of a little campground located in a huge county park. We've stayed here before and the place never disappoints. The overall Tanglewood Park offers more amenities than can be mentioned here, including two 18 hole golf courses and an equestrian center. The 44 site RV park is nestled in a quiet grove of trees. Bathhouse is modern and spotless. Roads and sites are paved, but some sites are not at all level. Water, sewer, 50amp and cable hookups worked fine. WiFi availability varies with your location in the park. The issue with some unlevel sites and the weak WiFi are the only reason I don't rate this park 10. The RV sites in this park are mostly a great disappointment. Sites 39 to 44 are fairly level and back up to an open field allowing satellite reception and good wifi access. The rest of the RV park is sketchy. Many of the sites are badly sloped making leveling difficult to impossible, especially for large rigs. The further from the back row you are, the weaker the wifi and the more trees to interfere with satellite dishes. All connections are at the rear of the sites requiring lots of sewer hoses. Electric and water were fine. We started in site 41, which was fine, but had to move to site 16, which no large rig should be in. It was badly sloped. Make sure what you are getting when you reserve. We camped at Tanglewood Park Campground in a Motorhome.

This campground is located in Clemmons, NC, just off of I-40, but convenient to Winston-Salem, NC and is one of the best campgrounds that we've stayed at to date. The park itself a 1,100 acre park and you feel as though you are in the country, not close to a city.
Once you turn off of US-158/Clemmons Road pay attention to the signage for entering the Welcome Center (for check-in), or you'll pass right by it. The signs are painted green, down low and, I felt, a bit hard to read, so use caution when coming off of Clemmons Road.
The check-in process is very quick and the staff throughout the park is very nice. Roads into/out of park are wide and paved and the camp host will greet you and take you to your site. All of the campsites are back-in, paved, level, and shaded under tall willow oaks. The campground offers 44 sites all with electric (20/30/50 AMP), cable (75-channels), water, sewage connection, picnic table and Wi-Fi. Although their brochure states that Wi-Fi is available at the picnic shelter and most sites, we had no difficulty in picking up their strong Wi-Fi signal at our site (site # 39). Fire rings are not permitted but they do allow the use of grills for cooking. There is no fee for visitors to visit you at your site, but they must obey all campground rules. Motorcycles, motorbikes, motor scooters, golf carts and off road vehicles are prohibited in the campground/park.
Tanglewood Park (different area from the campground) offers an outdoor pool and a water playground, miles of hike and bike trails, horseback riding fishing, two championship golf courses, tennis courts and an Arboretum and Fragrance Garden. The normal rate to get into Tanglewood Park is $2.00; however, the fee to enter the park is waived for those staying at the campground. Definitely take advantage of going into the park as it is simply BEAUTIFUL!

This was the forth park in NC we stayed in this trip and the first to have heat in the bath house. Nice touch. The camp is beautiful. Mature trees and lots of activities available. The hosts will make sure all is well, at least twice. On the other hand the sites are seriously sloped. We stayed in 39 and the rear wheels were off the ground! Almost all are back in asphalt.
