This cg is directly across from the speedway and nestled with the ZMax Dragway. There is a separate open field nearby as well but we did not stay there. This cg was covered in shale rock but did have nice dog park. Lots to do in the area. Easy in and out. Camping World was right there and we toured a few coaches on our own just to pass the time one evening. No amenities but we are self-contained and shale is not the best play to sit outside. There had been a big event over the weekend and we pulled in on a Sunday so trash was everywhere. Clean-up crews came in early Monday morning to spruce the place up. It stayed nice and clean for the rest of our stay. Would stay again. We camped at Camping World Racing Resort (formerly Charlotte Motor Speedway CG) in a Motorhome.

Have been in this park 3 times. Twice I paid 22.50 , the other time I paid 30.00 as they were having a car show. The place is great....but when they have races they are expensive and charge for the week. When I was there I was visiting my granddaughter, on Lake Norman about 20 minute drive. I would say it is the same distance to Charlotte. Place is very clean, and after reading their hand out I see they have some 30x50 pull thrus. Sites were on an angle so you really aren't side by side to neighbor. We camped at Camping World Racing Resort (formerly Charlotte Motor Speedway CG) in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This is now called the "Camping World Racing Resort". We've stayed here 4 times now and we know what to expect. It is NOT a resort and unfortunately cheapens that term for campgrounds that really do offer resort amenities. Essentially a large parking gravel parking lot with no amenities (other than a small playground). This was built for the racetracks and if you are looking for a convenient place to base out of to visit Charlotte, this is the best choice. Convenient to town, the interstate and with plenty of restaurants and shopping nearby. If you're looking to "camp", there are other places a bit farther from Charlotte that are probably better choices. For the first time, however, we could not get level in our space and since it was right after the big Fall NASCAR race, the place needed some cleanup. That said, we'll stay here again the next time we come to Charlotte. WIFI is now available throughout and was adequate. No cable TV. AT&T signal excellent. The entry is a bit funky. If you're towing, turn right at the office and go up on the 2nd level blacktop road to park and check in. If you don't you will be on a road that dead ends and does not lead to the sites. If you do as I suggest, you won't have to unhook. We camped at Camping World Racing Resort (formerly Charlotte Motor Speedway CG) in a Motorhome.

The Iron Thunder restaurant nearby has the largest chicken sandwiches I think we've ever seen. Not only very tasty, large enough to make a second meal out of. Lots of TVs and beverages.

Basically a parking lot for the three racetracks nearby, which would not have been available had there been an event. Bathhouse a good distance away and not terribly clean. Service was ok but seems campground is an afterthought to everything else. This is adjacent to a Camping World store and service center, and relatively convenient to the interstate north of Charlotte. Sites fairly level with some slope.. We camped at Camping World Racing Resort (formerly Charlotte Motor Speedway CG) in a Travel Trailer.

The staff was very cheerful and helpful. This is a huge park, mostly flat barren space with full service sites. It was convenient for us though trees would be a plus in the summer heat. We camped at Camping World Racing Resort (formerly Charlotte Motor Speedway CG) in a Travel Trailer.

A nice RV park, but not easy to find!! Apparently town does not allow signage but we were directed by staff at Camping World. Long drive on back roads from highway, but lovely once you arrive! It wasn't easy to find someone to check us in and direct us to our site - not clear where to go and how to check in. We are here on a NHRA racing weekend, All the sites are gravel, and on a slight incline. we had enough room for our 40' Class A , tow dolly and towed vehicle. Plenty of room left to setup our outdoor patio. Bathrooms and showers are a long way away and open to the general public so they we kinda nasty. NO laundry facilities, no cable TV, no Wifi. Not sure why this place is called a "racing resort". The only reason i would come back is for a racing event. There aren't a lot of good options for RV parks near Charlotte. This is probably the best if you want to be near the city for business or sightseeing. The pros: great, friendly staff; nice long pull through sites with some leveling needed, good location, good cell service for Verizon, and a lot of over the air channels. There is a large mall and several places to eat and shop nearby. The cons: only one dumpster for a lot of sites, trash pickup is spotty, limited laundry facilities, showers are a hike (but the bathhouse is huge). Keep in mind for a race weekend the big pull through sites are cut in half, so spaces would be tight. But, you're a short walk from the Speedway, Dirt Track or Drag-strip. The main thing to know is that this is really a big gravel parking lot. It's convenient to the city and race attractions as well as shopping, but it's not a bit scenic. We camped at Camping World Racing Resort (formerly Charlotte Motor Speedway CG) in a Motorhome.

We've stayed here several times with satisfaction based on the location and rate. This past time, however, we noticed a slight degradation of value. While it is still a large entirely gravel parking lot with clean restrooms a long walk from most sites, with no cable, pool or amenities, what gave us pause was that they have restricted the WIFI to just the main office. So no longer can you use wifi from your site and the office closes at 9pm. This was disappointing and with all of the above, we may seek alternatives next time. We have stayed here several times in the past. This park is a facility associated with Charlotte Motor Speedway and is available for camping throughout the year with some dates blacked out for events in the racing complex. The area is basically a large gravel lot with pull through full hook up sites, however during events they become back in sites. The shower house and laundry room are both clean and well taken care of. This park caters to fully self-contained RVs, no tents or pop-ups have ever been seen by us here. The secured shower house is quite away from the main parking area. The sites are easy to level up on and have easy central access to hookups. We camped at Camping World Racing Resort (formerly Charlotte Motor Speedway CG) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The massive Concord Mills outlet mall is about 3 miles away. Hendrick Motor Sports garages and museum are within a mile of the RV Park. Charlotte Motor Speedway Museum is close by also. IKEA in Charlotte is less than a 15 minute drive south depending on time of day traffic. Plenty of restaurants of all types can be found in the area between the RV Park and Concord Mills.

This is a great park with open, graveled sites, very close to the Charlotte Motor Speedway on Bruton Smith Blvd. It is actually located on the speedway property next to Tom Johnson Camping Center sales and service center. They are wide long pull-throughs. The only downside to staying there is you have to vacate the property every time the is an event at the speedway, unless you are willing to pay $100.00 per night for the blackout period (assuming there is a site available). Overall Rating:

We stayed 1 night while traveling through.

The park has easy access off I-85 but the entrance is not well marked. GPS device missed the entrance. Sent us well past the entrance. The area is well developed so there could be A LOT of traffic.

The campground was built on a slope so there are only a hand full of sites that are close to being level. The vast majority of the sites have a 2 directional slope making it difficult to get level.

The interior roads are paved but the traffic flow is difficult - mostly one way and the alignment of the sites to the road. The sites are stone. They are pretty wide and long if being used as a P/Ts. It seems during race week, the P/Ts might be used as back-ins. The utility connections are about midway along the side of the sites when using the sites as P/Ts. Due to the slope of the sites, sewer might have to run up hill. Not much privacy if the CG is full.

The restrooms/shower building was a long way from the CG.

Only one dumpster centrally located. No garbage collection at sites but that didn't stop people from leaving bags of garbage along the roads.

There are very few trees in the park so there isn't much to interfere with satellite reception.

Park map claimed there were 6 broadcast channels. However were able to receive more than 6.

Park's WiFi service was slow. It was difficult to use email. Our Verizon Hotspot was better. Our NET10 cell phone had no reception.

No designated pet area but there was sufficient space to walk dogs along the CG's roads. There were no bag dispensers around the park to pick up waste or collection cans to dispose of waste. Rules prohibited use of pens but that didn't stop people from setting up large pens around their RV's.

For being in a hazardous/severe weather area, there was no underground storm shelter. None of the structures in the park were identified as a severe weather shelter.

Would not stay here again. We camped at Camping World Racing Resort (formerly Charlotte Motor Speedway CG) in a Motorhome.
