If you know what you are getting into, then all will be well. It's a typical on the beach campground with over 300 sites where everyone is packed in. The grounds are kept very clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. With that said, it is very busy in the summer and the campers, rvs, etc., are packed in like sardines. Since the crowded feeling is not necessarily what we enjoy as a family, our next visit will probably be in the off season. Also, we were in site yellow 17 right at the beach entrance. Know that other campers from sites farther away tend to rudely use the yellow section as a pass through to the beach path. That means you can anticipate having to ask people to stop walking through your campsite (I wouldn't want to be yellow 18). This is a huge pet peeve of ours, so it was annoying. Also, there are other miscellaneous charges for the campground that are helpful to know prior to arrival. For example, there is a fee for showing up a half-hour early, and cable is $3 extra per day. A load of laundry is $3.50 per load for washer and $2 to dry; and roads are not necessarily big rig friendly, so if you have to back in, make sure you know how to maneuver your coach and hope that your neighbor's vehicles are not blocking the road. However, once parked, there is enough room to open slides, awnings, etc. We camped at Holiday Trav-L-Park Resort in a Motorhome.

LOVE this place. Our rate included 2 dogs and no discount. Well worth the money. Tight getting in and out, but sites spacious once your settled in. All grass and need leveling. Owners trying to grow new grass and ask for "breathable" mats only. Some sites face the beach, some don't. Be sure to call and discuss with extremely friendly and helpful staff if this will be an issue for you. Bath house modern and spotless. Grocery stores, pharmacy, restaurants w/i easy drive. Probably crazy here in season, but our stay was perfect . Will be back . We camped at Holiday Trav-L-Park Resort in a Motorhome.

We're thrilled to hear that you and your dogs enjoyed your stay with us, grumpysgal! Thank you so much for leaving a review of our park, it really helps new customers gain a better perspective. You're right in the fact that it can get busy down here in the summer, but the off-season can be a perfect time to get away and relax. Give us a call anytime, and we'll be happy to help you find a campsite that will fit your needs. For future reference, sometimes it can be a little easier to park in the parking lot of the Valero gas station when checking-in (so long as there's no delivery trucks unloading). Hope to see you again soon!

Rate above includes tax and dog fee. Very clean, large sites, close to ocean. Sites all grass and not level. Sewer hose had to run uphill. Good wifi and cable. Can't put rug out so you will have grass and sand tracking inside. High wind made putting awning out impossible, and site layout will give no shade. Park homes all along each side of park. We camped at Holiday Trav-L-Park Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Thanks for staying with us and leaving your review, Padre. We're always working hard to improve our facilities, and hope that you will come back to see us again sometime. We did have a lot of wind around here during the month of April, which unfortunately is not something we can control. Site location can make your life a little easier as far as getting level, and letting your awning out during windy days. Also for future reference, some of the sites in the Blue section do offer some shade but they will be a little bit further back from the beach.

We missed the entrance to the park and had to turn around, it's actually connected to a convenience store. The staff was helpful, very nice wine/beer store. The pool is ok. The redeeming value to this park is that it is on the beach. But hardly any sites have water views because of the dunes. This park is BUSY and the sites are very small and on top of one another and few are level. I mean they are crammed in there. If you don't mind that, then this is your typical resort/beach craziness campground place. If you like a little space and quiet, this is not for you. Not knocking it, just calling it what it is. It's a high volume campground. It was maintained and kept very nice. The park itself is nice but it felt like mid town Manhattan and I prefer a little more relaxing atmosphere. We camped at Holiday Trav-L-Park Resort in a Motorhome.

This campground is immaculate. It is right on a very beautiful beach. The beach runs East/West and you get both sunrises and sunsets. Most of the campsites are behind a tall dune and can not see the water. We were in Red 64 on the top of the hill back from the dune and had a great view of the water over the top. We arrived after a big rain storm, and the Green tent sites area (which is in a low spot between 2 hills) was flooded. The staff were very helpful. We liked it here so much that we added a third night to our stay. We camped at Holiday Trav-L-Park Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a roadside shrimp shack with really fresh, local shrimp at a reasonable price about a block from the campground. Chowdah Heads restaurant down near the town pier has scrumptious clam chowder that you can also buy cold and take home to heat up later. Willis Seafood Market, also near the town pier, has good fresh local seafood.

Thanks for the wonderful review, ShoreXplorers! We are thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your camping experience at our resort last November. 64 Red is one of our most popular sites! That was some rain storm we had then, but thankfully the park has dried up well. We would love to have you guys back sometime. Keep in touch!

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $95.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed 10 nights on site 27Y end of July through August 2, 2015. The sites are easy enough to get into for the experienced camper, but witnessed some mishaps with the less experienced/skilled campers trying to squeeze into a difficult site. This was our 4th year visiting this camp, and it is by far the best oceanfront camping we know of in NC. We are steps from the dune; it couldn't be more convenient. Our site was moderate, but big enough for two pick up trucks, a pet fence, beach chairs, an ez up awning, two bicycles, the picnic table and our outdoor grill and other cooking equipment. We used the free wifi, which was spotty, but my daughter paid for internet when she arrived and it wasn't any better. If you really need wifi, there is a coffee shop on 58 that has wifi, or use a hotspot. Cable tv had plenty of options, but if you don't want to pay for it, there were over the air channels available. I don't know how many, but while I was hooking up my cable, the over the air channels were on, even without my antenna up. Only a couple of things prevent me from giving this camp a higher rating: My breaker kept tripping throughout the week, even though nothing was on in our site other than the ac, not even any lights. Also, just across from us on site 17 red, the sewer backed up, and the smell was awful. It took several complaints before they came and pumped it out and cleaned up the mess. I felt really sorry for the people on that site who had raw sewage all over their stuff. The same thing happened last year on the same site while we were there. Overall, the camp is great, and we will be returning next year. We camped at Holiday Trav-L-Park Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Food lion nearby, but plan ahead bc it gets crowded at check in time, i.e. Saturday afternoons. Restaurants nearby are just ok. Favorite ice cream is Sweet Spot. Beaufort has nice waterfront area, & ferry to Shackleford Banks to visit the wild ponies. An hr away, Harker's Island & ferry to Cape Lookout National Seashore & Lighthouse. Plenty of shopping & rental equip- kayaking, paddleboarding, surfing, etc. Visit aquarium or movie theater if you need a break from the beach.

First time at this park. Was a little surprised that the terrain wasn't flat like so much of the NC coast. Our site was located at the crest of a hill in the red section. As such, we had an ocean view...again, not something we're used to on the NC coast. The park is spotlessly clean. Management really keeps after this place. Crews go around the park all day picking up trash, cigarette butts, and dog waste left by uncaring guests (Grrrrr). The sites are grass covered and here again, it's manicured. I was really impressed with the care provided to this facility. The young gentleman behind the customer service counter has to be one of the friendliest people I've encountered in that position. He could not do enough to make us feel welcome and informed about the area. All of the staff I encountered (including the guys picking up dog waste) were pleasant, smiling, and appeared happy to be there. In short, I was impressed with this place. If you're looking for a nice oceanfront location on the Crystal Coast, look no further. This place does it right. We camped at Holiday Trav-L-Park Resort in a Motorhome.

Stayed here 4 days in the yellow section. Very close to the ocean. Site was level but we had issues staying connected to Wi-Fi even though the Wi-Fi antenna was only 20 feet away. Campground is a bit pricey but the ocean makes it bearable. Will stay here again. We camped at Holiday Trav-L-Park Resort in a Motorhome.

This was our very first RV outing and it couldn't have been better! Staff was exceptionally helpful with setup and other information. Park was lovely, very clean and well-kept (especially the bathrooms). Spacious grass site with picnic table.

Beach and ocean were just steps away. We were so pleased with this park we have already made additional reservations here! We camped at Holiday Trav-L-Park Resort in a Motorhome.

Awesome park for us, we arrived Tuesday as a stop over for Wilmington, we ended up staying 5 days. We met a lot of great people and made friends, everyone on the staff was wonderful and very helpful The beach was 1 minute away. The market was very handy. We are planning to go back next year if there would of been shade. I would went with a 10 for us, it fit our lifestyle. Perfect wine, food, beach and great company. Our campsite was a few short steps from the ocean--a nice spacious, level site, although not all the campsites are as nice. Some are on a steep grade. The restrooms are immaculate. Camp store is nice. Did not use the pool. This campground offers some amenities a la carte which is great if you don't need cable or internet for example, you can save the money. Staff is very helpful and friendly. This was our second visit, and we would definitely return. We camped at Holiday Trav-L-Park Resort in a Travel Trailer.

This is a well maintained campground with full hookups and friendly staff that checked us in.The road is paved, but the pads are grass. There is security at the front gate. The pads are level, some pull through and some back in. This is an older campground which isn't as big rig friendly and access is tight. Fairly quiet, but not a lot of privacy around the RV, a few shade trees, plenty of grass and a picnic table. We were on a slight hill, so we were lucky enough to get a view of the water. There is a trash pick up from your site. The bathrooms and laundry are spotless. Very dog friendly, but they are very strict on the pick up after your pet policy, and so there are plenty of pick up bags on most corners. However, we did find that the grass had lots of burrs in it. The beach access is great  and just steps from your RV. Cell is fine, but any extras such as WiFi, 50amps, or pets are extra per day which does add to the nightly cost. There are plenty of food stores, restaurants, and sightseeing close by. Without a doubt this is the best campground in the area. It gets pretty hectic at the weekend but is very quiet during the week. We would stay here again.         We camped at Holiday Trav-L-Park Resort in a Motorhome.

Fabulous location on the barrier island! The campground sits on a small hill that slopes towards the dunes. Sites on the hill have a view of the water. Sites fronting the dunes do not, but have great beach access. The campground has nicely paved roads, lots of well maintained grass and some (not a lot) of trees. There is lots of green, but not that much shade. Our site was near the dunes and it was generously sized and easy to access. The entrance to the campground is a little bit constricted, so watch for that. We loved this campground. The only real negative is that the base rate is expensive and there are extra charges for everything. Cable is another $2 per day, a dog is another $5 a day, and there is also a charge for guests who stay over an hour and for wifi. Laundry is also expensive, but the facilities are immaculate. Note that the coin machine and half of the dryers were not working at the time we were there. We camped at Holiday Trav-L-Park Resort in a Motorhome.

The only reason I didn't rate this campground a 10 was because, (and I fully understand why), there is a policy in place that no rugs larger than 2x3'can be put out. There's just something about being able to use a large mat to add another dimension to your space. The staff apparently have a difficult time enforcing this policy because I noticed many with large rugs out their full stay. We promptly took ours up when we found a note on our door reminding us of the policy. Although the sites for the most part are grassy, I still like to set my bare-feet on a nice clean rug. With that said we had a great time. The park is really clean and well kept, staff is great. There is an additional cost for 50 amp and cable TV. We will definitely return another day. We camped at Holiday Trav-L-Park Resort in a Motorhome.

If you are looking for a campground near the ocean and overpriced, then this is for you!! The entrance and exit is terrible and sites are as tight as you can get. Big rig, forget it. The advertising says cable TV and Wi-Fi, yes, you pay extra for that. $2 a day for cable and $7.95 a day for Internet. The site that I had could have been a bit more level. The staff in the office was very nice and very well should be for $80 a night. My family and I will not be returning. We camped at Holiday Trav-L-Park Resort in a Fifth Wheel.
