We saw the rating on this website compared to the others campgrounds in this area. That is why we chose this one. We did not get to use any of the amenities, as it was a short stay. It was a nice campground. Would stay here again. Coming in the front gate is a little tight, but manageable. The sites were mainly level. We only stayed there so we could do the Zipline. We camped at Lakewood RV Resort (55+ park) in a Motorhome.

Paved roads with gravel sites. Patio and table. Dog walk is a narrow strip along the back. FHU with TV and Wi-Fi. Couldn't connect to Wi-Fi or were dropped soon after connection. Hotspot for Verizon signal not good. Dumpster filled to almost overflowing. Good for an overnight, but wouldn't stay any time unless I had something in the area to draw me there. Ate at a Cracker Barrel close by. We camped at Lakewood RV Resort (55+ park) in a Motorhome.

We were very disappointed in this campground having chosen it because of its rating. Not easy to get into, very steep access road. Very tight site access. Mud and standing water on our site. Very close neighbor. Not able to get satellite, good cable, good hookups but surrounded by mud. Good location. Stayed in 45ft motorhome. Would not stay again. We camped at Lakewood RV Resort (55+ park) in a Motorhome.

Campground has two sections. One part is larger pull-throughs and back-ins. WiFi works great in this section.

Section two has a few short pull-throughs on the entrance road, with the other sites back-ins. These back-ins are short and you are only a few feet from those backed in behind you. WiFi is slow in these lots.

The length of your RV determines which section you allowed to stay in...yes I said allowed. If your rig is 36 ft and above, you will allowed to camp in these large pull-throughs/back-ins. Under 36 ft. don't even think about these lots.

On our last visit, many of these nicer lots were vacant. I asked to move to one of these and was refused. This is when I found out about their length requirements. Age of vehicle/cost of vehicle doesn't matter. Just the length. FYI-Our coach is a 33 ft 2014 Winnebago.

We have traveled through 38 states so far and this is the only park with such rules. I thought segregation had been outlawed.

I don't know if we will return here or stay else where. This experience has certainly left a bad taste with us. We camped at Lakewood RV Resort (55+ park) in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

This park was a bit of a disappointment. It is well cared for and does look very nice and the staff is very good. However, entering the campground is a very, very steep decline. Resulting in sites in the flats with mountain and large trees surrounding which is lovely, but there is no internet reception. They say they have WiFi, but it doesn't work. We also have internet through our Android, but it can't get reception either. Also, we were on site 224 which is an end site whose sewer connection is too far (even with an extended hose) to hook up which is inconvenient. If you don't care for WiFi and don't take that end site, I think most folks would like the park. We camped at Lakewood RV Resort (55+ park) in a Fifth Wheel.

This is the first "over 55" campground we have stayed at and as nice as they come. Access is very near I-26, check in was quick and very courteous. We had a long, level pull thru site with all hookups where they should be and easy to use. Very nice water pressure and noticeably good water. We received 96 cable channels. Wifi and ATT cell worked well. There are many permanent park models here, but in a separate section. Everyone we came across was friendly. We liked a site across from us, next to a small pond and fountain and we checked on availability for next year and booked a months stay. Each site has a paved patio and picnic table, all in very good condition. We camped at Lakewood RV Resort (55+ park) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

You are about 10 minutes from downtown Hendersonville, a beautiful and quaint city. So much to see there, an old car show every Friday night, great restaurants, very nice shops. A half hour away is Asheville and the Biltmore House and Gardens. A drive thru the Pisgah National Forest up to the Blue Ridge Parkway shouldn't be missed.

Major grocery stores, Walmart and other needed shopping is convenient.

Rate reflects seasonal stay. I'm giving them a 9 3/4; I wish I could give them a 10, but I have to deduct for the Wi-Fi that was bad at times and the fact that there is no mountain view from inside the park. Other than that, I have nothing but good things to say about Lakeside. The park is nicely wooded, though there are sites that are out in the open and ideal for satellite. Adequate number of cable channels, but some weren't as clear as others. Our spot was level with good hookups. Water pressure and electrical were fine. The folks who run this park work hard to keep it neat and clean, constantly mowing, trimming and performing maintenance; they are very responsive to any problems. The location is excellent, with good access to the highway, stores, gas stations, and just about anything you could possibly want in Hendersonville. Asheville is about 30-40 minutes away. There is a faint hum from the highway, but it's not bad. The park is extremely quiet at night - very restful. The seasonal pool is large, clean and, best of all, HEATED! Laundry room is clean and fairly reasonable - $1.75 wash, $1.25 dry and is open 24 hours. Bathrooms and showers are always spotless. The office is open every day but Sunday and the people who work there are always helpful and friendly. There is a clubhouse with TV, lending library, pool table and two big meeting rooms and a covered outdoor deck; coffee and donuts on Tuesday mornings and a happy hour every Wednesday evening where folks bring food to share. Occasional BBQ's and other events. Activities include luncheon trips, crafts, bridge, bingo, mah-jong, music. There is a very nice work-out room with treadmills, elliptical, stationary bike, weight machine and free weights that is also open 24 hours a day (I lost 10 pounds!) We had a great summer and can't wait to come back! We camped at Lakewood RV Resort (55+ park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Two miles to a huge Ingles super market and a fantastic park for walking, biking, dogs welcome. For Mexican food, I'd recommend Tequilas. Steak is good at O'Binions. "Comfort food" is fantastic at the Moose Café. About 13 miles to the airport and even more big box stores.

Very nice park. Sites are a little tight but mostly drive-through so they can accommodate big rigs. The older side of the park has nice shade but on the newer side the trees aren't mature enough yet. Pool is very nice, and the workout room while small was nice to have. People in the park were very friendly and helpful. We camped at Lakewood RV Resort (55+ park) in a Motorhome.

Very nice park, well kept park models in a separate area. Sites were big enough for pull through, gravel and fairly level. Concrete patio and table. All utilities were good except Wi-Fi, it was down. Very quiet. We stayed here three nights, enough to see here and Ashville to keep us busy. I would recommend. We camped at Lakewood RV Resort (55+ park) in a Motorhome.

This park is convenient to I-26 but located away from the noise. There are park models in a separate section. The sites are long & flat with gravel and there is grass and a concrete slab with a usable picnic table on each site. Very clean, well kept park with good 50 amps and open sites for satellite reception. We camped at Lakewood RV Resort (55+ park) in a Motorhome.

Sites were nicely spaced and well maintained. It rained several different days during our stay and all graveled surfaces stayed firm. Grass areas became a little soggy but quickly dried out after the rain. Laundry was clean with plenty of space and machines. Staff was very friendly and even though the office was only open for 2 days out of the week (winter schedule) their phone response was very prompt. Wi-Fi worked better than the average RV park. We camped at Lakewood RV Resort (55+ park) in a Motorhome.

Very clean and quiet park. Mix of back-in and pull-thru, all with FHU, gravel sites with cement pad, picnic table. Partial shade from trees at the front of each site. Pull throughs very long, can accommodate the longest of rigs...even ones hauling a trailer. Wifi signal fast & strong. Stores, grocery, gas close by. Some road noise from I-26, although not overbearing. Would definitely stay here again. We camped at Lakewood RV Resort (55+ park) in a Motorhome.

We stayed here for an overnight while traveling. Easy to find and close to interstate 26 but no noise from the interstate in the campground. We arrived after office hours, but they had left clear instructions and a map to our campsite. Site was level and easy to get in and out of. Great for an overnight or a more extended visit. We stayed here for a month, so the nightly rate is based on that. This is a very good park to see the Hendersonville and Asheville area. It is an over 55 park, so it is quiet, nice clubhouse with few activities. There are 2 sections of the park. There is a nice level pull-through site area that can handle any big rig. This side cost a little more than the side we were in. Our side was VERY hilly with mostly park models. Some of the sites are hard to get into. While we were there, we had the water from the neighboring creek backed up and caused a knee high flood. It drained within a couple of hours but did raise a little concern. But don't get me wrong, this is a great park, just be choosey of the site you get. Plenty of room to walk the dogs, nice people, our Verizon and Sprint phones/hot-spot worked well. Good restaurants and shopping close by. We would stay here again. We camped at Lakewood RV Resort (55+ park) in a Motorhome.
